I used to make the potato soup for my mom. She would make some in the afternoon or evenings when she just wanted something comforting. She passed away 2 years ago....but this reminded me of her.

They did have much money but my grandfather was a farmer and had a green thumb. Oh I miss those days but we grandchildren were tortured on the corn n purple n stringbean fields hoeing weeds all summer 😥😀 Oh boy when it came to harvest we would drop a melon on purpose just to eat it!! 🍉 He grew different kinds of squash, green chili, jalapenos, cucumbers, colored and sweet corn, beans, different melons , tomatoes, carrots, green onions and different radishes along with different herbs. His apple, peach n apricot trees were filled with so much fruit like his grapevines. He shared with the whole community no one went hungry and he never asked for payment. I learned alot from grand pa n ma they taught ua alot and I never forgot what was taught about farming raising cattle n sheep along with cooking and keeping a good home. So much I miss and you bring back all those memories. Thank you n God bless.

Like the cooking videos and I have probably gained some weight, because you make me want to cook. Between you and the Hillbilly Kitchen channel you ladies have reminded me of the simple things that tasted so good when I was a child and even when I was raising my own children. I enjoy sharing my time with people of like faith. To many people won't mention the Lord on their channel for fear of offending a subscriber. Jesus is a lot more precious to me than any social media. @@jpolinskyswife When I can tomatoes, I carefully remove the skins that are good (discard anything that looks bad). I then put the skins in a single layer on a cookie sheet/pizza sheet with holes. I use the lowest setting on my oven and let them dry completely. Once dry, grind into a powder I use my vitamix but it can be done in a food processor. Store in an air tight container.
@@davidtipton9342 Yum! I've always wanted to figure out how to make a mix like Knorr's "Parma Rosa". They used to sell it all the time in grocery stores, but it's impossible to find now. According to the reviews on their website, no one else can find it in stores either so they order it online... I knew it had tomato powder and some sort of grated parmesan in it, but I just went to the Knorr website and checked it out. It has like 20-something ingredients! =😱= Yow! When Miss Lori says her mixes are healthier, she's not kidding!!!
Fyi: you can dehydrate tomatoes for the powder. Once you powder, if you have any clumps that means there's still moisture and you should dry a bit longer so it lasts longer and doesn't mold
Mrs Lori, I give all the cafeteria ladies a 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. That’s the hardest job in a school district, physically if you ask me. I worked with early childhood and preschool age for 12 years. One year I thought I would try the cafeteria. 😳. I tweaked my back, my carpal tunnel flared back up causing my hands to go numb, and shoulders started hurting. I ran back to the early childhood!! An I’m a country girl so that says a lot. Cafeteria workers should be paid more money!!!!

Your new to me but now trying to catch up. I could write a volume for you. My sweet hubby passed. We were like you guys. Married 50 years. We still loved each very much. He was much like Mr. Brown. I was born in Tennessee. Watched my gran make bisc uits every am. So much of what you do, I did as a kid. My job was to churn milk. (By hand) to this day I cant drink buttermilk. I had small hand so guess who got to wash all the jars for canning.Beans, tomatos, peaches and on and on. They too put up all their food for winter. The only differience is mine was called "Cobb Holler". Youve touched my heart and help me to remember so many joys from my past. There all gone now but now I have you.
When I make soup or chowder it can be three or more onions that I put in when I make it fresh. It depends how many meals I need out of it or how many people I'm feeding but the potatoes and the onions are the base. I just use black pepper in place of white pepper. I grew up in chowder country and we always had black flex of pepper in our chowder and my mother was a pepper freak so when we got to the bottom of the bowl there was a spoonful of pepper down there!

Your new to me but now trying to catch up. I could write a volume for you. My sweet hubby passed. We were like you guys. Married 50 years. We still loved each very much. He was much like Mr. Brown.
I was born in Tennessee. Watched my gran make bisc uits every am. So much of what you do, I did as a kid. My job was to churn milk. (By hand) to this day I cant drink buttermilk. I had small hand so guess who got to wash all the jars for canning.Beans, tomatos, peaches and on and on. They too put up all their food for winter. The only differience is mine was called "Cobb Holler". Youve touched my heart and help me to remember so many joys from my past. There all gone now but now I have you.

When I make soup or chowder it can be three or more onions that I put in when I make it fresh. It depends how many meals I need out of it or how many people I'm feeding but the potatoes and the onions are the base. I just use black pepper in place of white pepper. I grew up in chowder country and we always had black flex of pepper in our chowder and my mother was a pepper freak so when we got to the bottom of the bowl there was a spoonful of pepper down there!
