Ramesh devaragappa Garu, Kantarao acted in as many as 400 pictures. Besides his 100 acres land property and huge bungalows with the princely life style, he too earned hefty amounts in his prolonged 40 years film career and owned multifarious properties in Madras in those days. But it was his misfortune and mishandling of money, that he produced films, as they were bombed at the box office, there by he became penniless in his last days. It was his peak of the situations, he used to go around studies for even smaller rolles for meagre amounts in order to meet his both ends. No one cared him, and thus ended his life with cancer in 2009. Very much sad end to such a great actor. But Kantarao ever remains in the hearts of millions of people even today. Indeed, he is a great legend.
