When the owner says they don't remember when the oil was changed, you can expect the worst. That is the most important maintenance of any vehicle. Engine flush? Well maybe so, there is back and forth controversy when it comes to that. Those solvents can be bad on engine seals and gaskets despite what they claim. If really bad, a piece of sludge can break off and clog a lifter, push rod (depending on engine), or even worse, like a rod bearing or crankshaft port. Well I guess you have to try something. Personally, I would just do some frequent oil changes for a while and hope for the best. Anyway, nice job on the steering, I think it seemed easier the last time because you did more disassembling.

My previous car was an 05 Sonata GLS that I bought in 06. I got 11 years of issue free use out of it so i stuck with the brand. This poor Sonata.... it looks terrible.. that dashboard, the steering wheel, screen ad buttons... geeez. A little TLC would go a long way. I have the 2012 Hyundai Azera Limited with the same milage as this sonata. Still looks and runs like new. I did replace the steering coupler back in 2016 when I bought it. I did the clutch master in my 93 MX5. That was pretty much lying upside down reaching my hands up above me. The best part was I could put the roof down and avoid getting footprints on the ceiling.
That sludgy oil is a worry, seems like way more than 10000 since the last service. Might be closer to 20.

I knew near to nothing about car repairs four years ago when I stumbled upon your channel. Have watched nearly all your videos. Now I've finished major work on my 300k miles 2010 camry hybrid doing an HV battery swap, CV joints, piston+rings replacement (engine out! Had help), wheel bearings, and a window regulator. Ready for another 14 years of heavy use 🎉. Thanks for being an epic instructor Ray. Would love to get your merch but not shipping to NZ 😢. SHAPES AND COLORS FOR THE WIN!

That oil is terrible! Oil changes shouldn't go past 5,000 miles, EVER! Also, Hyundai is good short term (50,000 to 100,000 miles) engineering. Terrible long term engineering! Stay away if you keep your vehicle longer than 100,000 miles.

Winter in Florida... *Laughs in Canadian* ... You don't know winter, Son! ... Winter's so cold you have to leave your car running when you go to the shopping mall so the battery / engine doesn't freeze and won't restart. That's "Winter" 😂😂😂

"I wouldn't do it", she said. Meanwhile Ray is stuffed under the steering column of a Hyundia wiggling around while closing his eyes to visualize where a missing bolt is at. "No one else will do it" Replies Ray.... (im guessing that Rayman Rays Garage is going to be a HUGE HIT with the Hyundai Fans that cant get their cars fixed... Better get some Chiropractic insurance soon Ray!)

I've never seen a dipstick that crapped up. I've done 10K oil changes that still had nearly transparent oil. BG time. This was most likely a Theta 2 engine. Many didn't make 100K with regular maintanance, as evidenced by my stack of Hyundai/Kia engine pallets from a local dealership.

That rubber coupling was designed to FAIL . It gives the Hyundai service dept service center to unload the owner of $700 to $1000 for something that should have not failed. My 07 Chevy has not had any such problems with the pump or rack and pinion. I have sucked the oil out of the pump twice and its nearly clear now. Dash not cracked at all nor the steering wheel and it sets out side all the time and just turned to 170,000 miles. I have no plan to get rid of and buy some high priced junk of today .

So I finally got around to dropping the steering column and looking in the EPS motor but it was not like the videos. There was no little plastic gear. It was completely different. It was a motor type thing with a magnet post. Maybe it's different on my model. I have a 2015 Kia Sorento. Do you have any other thoughts?
