Thanks for the great talk! I do, however, disagree that you should use a similarity-detection tool on all papers. ENAI just completed an investigation of 15 systems (I am co-author, pre-print at arxiv.org/abs/2002.04279) and again we see: these systems do not find all text similarity and they miss a lot of similarity! So they should only be used when you are suspicious of improper text use, not generally on all papers in my opinion. They can give you some tips, but not completely assess similarity.

Thanks Debora. My point is that you should ALWAYS check for integrity before grading and tools can be helpful but they are not the silver bullet and you can't depend on them alone. I use them for a first glimpse, but then when I'm reading for integrity, I always follow up on suspicions. I never recommend that faculty only submit "suspicious" papers to these tools - that can reflect bias and perpetuate inequities. Instead, have all papers submitted to a chosen tool and use it properly.

I recall when watching live there was a slide which included stats regarding the relationship between students cheating in school and then going on to cheating in the real world. At what min:sec can the slide with these stats be found in the above recording? I think it might be missing as the start of the webinar is not recorded - can you please provide those?

There were some problems and the beginning of the webinar was not recorded. Please look at the PPT at academicintegrity.org/webinars
