The flashback revelation of Shahid Khan and Sartaj being brothers was awesome cinematography.
points that pattern was correct..
1. dilbag singh was ashwathama.. so his pattern was the most likely to be true..
2. gaitonde also says that this book is the key for next life and also for saving the world
3. there was a reason why gaitonde chose to speak to sartaj.. he could have talked to any raw intelligence officer.. but sartaj was the key to stop all this..
4. in a short scene where dilbag was sitting and malcom was planning to attack him (means he killed him).. so from all the 11-12 members, only dilbag singh was killed.. so that he cannot use his pattern to stop the bomb in future..
5. there can be different passwords for locking and unlocking..
6. in the book, sartaj saved the city.. so the makers wont go in a different direction..
EDIT..7.the scene where shahid put the password was saif's dream.. it showed ACTIVATED.. fast forward 5 min 40 sec ahead..it shows the same scene where he wrote something and again it showed ACTIVATED.. how can a password be activated 2 times..
If u look on the pattern...It is different from the one which shahid put while activating the bomb...So I guess the pattern is wrong.!!!

Varun Grover, the writer of the show, gave detailed explanations of possibility of both the cliffhangers.
“1. Bombay is saved. Because Dilbag’s pattern (which Sartaj applies) works. When Dilbag was putting his hands in Guruji’s book, he was the only one who had a doubt about Guruji’s plan of destruction. So if Guruji wanted to make his plan fail-safe, he’d the passcode (Which would disable the bomb) on the page that has Dilbag’s handprints in his book. At that time, Guruji didn’t know Dilbag will be killed by Batya and Malcolm-they do so to eliminate the very idea of fail-safe. But Sartaj cracks it.
2. Sartaj has gone too deep into the cult to actually save the world. He’s a complete convert and believes in Guruji’s cause. Which is why he says Aham Brahmasmi in the end. It ties into the theory of Balidaan (sacrifice). Guruji appointed Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) because he wanted to sacrifice Gaitonde with Bombay. When you go to a new yug, you’ve to sacrifice the thing dearest to you and for Guruji, it was Gaitonde. Now, Gaitonde killed himself. But by Sartaj converting to the cult, he’s become the dearest to Batya (Kalki Koechlin), who’s, in many ways, the new Guruji. So Batya tricks Sartaj into going towards the bomb, in an attempt to sacrifice him, along with the city."

Cyril Radcliffe was the person who drew the border lines between India and West Pakistan and India and East Pakistan.
These border lines have gone on to become the international border lines of the respective countries.

Varun Grover, lead writer of Sacred Games season 2 offered two possible theories about what happens in the end.

It may means 2 stories directed by 2 directors...so 2 parts in season 1 & 2parts in season 2....total 4...just my interpretation
That was in direction perspective it was parted in 4 parts for different directors to adjust their roles

The gaitonde story connection and how he was played by the guruji for 20 years goes back to season 1 when Trivedi, the minister and Parulkar all three characters were introduced in his life.
Anybody thinks Sartaj had to choose one of his dad's, his real dad or Gaitonde.
Gaitonde had voices of his 3rd dad in his head, Sartaj has the voice of Gaitonde in his head
I just wish that god gives me enough clarity of mind and wisdom to understand the deep things I'm going to read in the books/movies/series in the future. Just don't want to miss out the wonderful things which are waiting in the world us to be found and appreciate

There is scope for exploration , if the makers are interested enough . But I guess gaitonde character ends here and probably a new character will emerge . Remember sartaz's assistant who was killed in first season , he had kid right , makers may build up that character .
Did you guys realize the younger girl in 1947, sitting in the front seat, is named Prabhjot (Sartaj's mother), and Shahid Khan's mother was the one who got separated from that same family. A poignant way to show how the partition line tore apart millions of families. In a sense, we are parts of the same family, fighting each other and killing each other. The references to Mahabharata (like Ashwatthama) are very relevant because there, too, the battle is between two parts of the same family and in the end, almost everyone perishes.
This is why I am a subscriber to your channel! Love the way you guys investigate on the story and talk about various other things. It's one way to learn for me!

The last few minutes were poorly executed. I didn't mind the cliffhanger. But the random guessing of the pattern and the whole exchange of dialogs in the end left me underwhelmed.
Yup a nuclear bomb is going to be exploded. Only limited ways to stop it. Let's guess. No logic needed.

I think shahid Khan also says that bomb was planted in 1947 and so is the name of the episode Radcliffe which eventually the pattern that sartaj draws.
Speaking of Shahid Khan, why did he kill his men? He was guarding a bomb powerful than the Hiroshima one. He should have had an army of henchmen guarding it. It was really dumb.

Jojo's betrayal for me was deeply unsettling, cz like gaitone, in this crazy situation that he was, he found someone who was equally broken and found solace and that whole relationship was so beautiful, and to know that it was just a lie is heart breaking and real. Although, i don't think she was faking the part about a death wish, maybe she felt that someday he would truly find out her betrayal and kill her and that's what she wanted, to die.
There are going to be 4 seasons according to the show writers. We are about half way through in the book time-line so that makes sense.

Sacrifice is very intrinsic to INDIAN/Hindu philosophy. It’s the most important quality one can have.

In one of the episodes in season 1 or may be 2 Sartaaj's mom tell him his father kept on telling her that he don't know why Guruji called him his Ashwatthama. That is exactly why . His father's pattern was as the Radcliffe line and so was the correct pattern.
In an interview, the creators have said that the complete book/story is spread in 4 seasons. So season 3 is coming.
I doubt there will be season 3 maybe a prequal for Guruji. The story is quite different from the book like hardly any character of Murad. Mathur being alive till the end.
Also all characters journey is complete. Either dead or nothing more to say.

You've got to understand the symbology here, and for that you've got to know the history here. Radcliffe line is the line of partition between India and Pakistan, that's what Dilbagh Singh's pattern looks like, Radcliffe is also the name of the final episode. I personally felt that when you deactivate the Radcliffe line, that symbolises removing the line of partition between the two countries, hence reuniting them. Also, Varun Grover (main writer of the show) stated earlier this week that the deactivation pattern could only be Dilbagh Singh's, because he was the only follower who had doubt about the plan.
Nothing is random jaby. It's pre-destined. Our conflict too is not random - there is reason behind it. The reason being the exact realization that some are getting - that we are family. Conflict is required to make us understand and realise that!

The ending is highly and very cleverly connected to the storyline .If you really understood the storyline , then you would know what actually happens in the end .
It HAS A PARTICULAR ENDING , they just didn't show it because as I have said they wanted viewer to understand the storyline in order to figure out the ending .

Yes you are right. The book sacred games ends on this cliffhanger.
The directors have given their theories on both the possible ending in an interview, but they prefer to leave it on the viewer to choose the one they want.
I like the ending where it saved all, they said that since Dilbagh Singh thought before giving print of his hand, so Guruji chose his sign in case he wanted to stop the plan. He was his second thought. But Batya and Malcom didn't want it to stop at any cost and they killed Dilbagh Singh who (they suspected) had second thoughts.
This is not my theory, the directors revealed it.
They had the otherwise theory, but it was not as good (acc. to me)
Most resonating theory is "In second episode Guruji made Dilbagh Singh his ashwarthama and according to our history ashwarthama didn't die in the Mahabharata war because he was immortal. So, his pattern was the deactivation password for the bomb as Mumbai would also not die". Moreover guys I think third season will come as in the end Gaitonde said that his story is remaining!

Only dilbagh singh was one with the doubt on guruji plan, so if guruji was to make a failure safe for the apocalypse it would be dilbagh singh's cosmic pattern, which gaitonde kept telling sartaj it would be only he who can save the world.

The activation pattern and the deactivation patterns are different that's why it looks so different and of course it would have been deactivated.
"Aham Brahmasmi" ... "I am Brahma" (the creator, as per the Hindu trinity, can also be translated as "I am God") ... is the last phrase Sartaj speaks before he expends his last attempt ... I think it could be a hint and a message to the viewer ... to the average person walking on the street ... that the world is in dire straits, yet each one of us has the power to do something to save it ...to see through the smoke screens of terror, religious hatred, politics and to address the real issues ... it is a very powerful message by the creators of the series (if I am not reading too much into it) ... and I wonder how many will take the hint..

hey jaby! Sartaj did disfused the bomb. If you remember, in one episode guruji terms dilbagh singh as his ashwathama ( the one who stays forever) so a password or pattern under his name would be a correct option to diffuse the bomb.

As my opinion, there will be third season... few things we need to understand from this two seasons are... 1) Did Ganesh gaitonde really dead? Ans: No, my theory is Gaitonde has been saying about himself as Ashwathama. Its a character from Mahabharath who is one and only immortal. To prove it, Gaitonde might be tricked viewers and police with his death. How? he beat Trivedi with a rod but audience didn't see him dead. Both wear same dress (yellow..). As the story was the narration of Gaitonde, story has the perception from the Sartaj's point of view based on Gaitonde's narration. So, gaitonde might place Trivedi in his chair and blew his head but made it believable that gaitonde shot him self. Once you shot your head, the face couldn't be recognizable. Another thing, gaitonde is the follower of Guruji, who faked his death earlier and also declared Gaitonde as his successor in previous episodes. So, gaitonde might faked his death. Sartaj and gaitonde were interlinked with each other. If, Sartaj would be dead while diffusing the bomb, then we can consider the death of Gaitonde. But if, Sartaj saved the city, then obviously Ganesh gaitonde would be alive still. Because, Gaitonde only knows whereabouts Dilbangh Singh, Sartaj's father. (wait.. will explain..) The important point is, though Gaitonde killed Guruji, he couldn't erase him from his brain. So, shooting his brain is a symbolic of shooting guruji out of his brains.. so, he is no more the follower of Guruji. 2) Dibagh Singh's death... Did Sartaj's father really die? In my opinion, no... makers didn't show us that Malcom killed Dilbagh Singh. He just went after him. Guruji chosen Dilbagh Singh as his true successor but not gaitonde. That's why Dibagh's pattern would deactivate the bomb. If that happens, Dilbagh Singh only would activate it again. For that, he needed to be alive. that's why when Guruji says 'If anyone wanted to leave, leave now..' at that time Dilbagh Singh also tried to leave but Guruji stopped him with his eye sign. Sartaj can reach his father only thorough Gaitonde. 3) All guruji follwers/successors fake their deaths because most of them wanted to enter in Satya Yuga. If bomb fails, then these successors have to look for alternative plans. but this time it is going to be international. Remember the movie made by Gaitonde "International Dhamaka"? That movie is about gaitonde's life. But we only saw his childhood and mafia life through that film. But entire movie didn't show to us. That's why Sartaj took it as a key. It also tells us about the international approach of cult in the upcoming seasons. Batya also didn't die. see it carefully. One guruji might be dead. 1) Why was Dilbagh Singh's pattern chosen?
Ans-) Guruji knew he was the only one who was still reluctant so it is natural his pattern would be the one that would stop the bomb.
2) Sartaj and Shahid being cousins and the title of the episode are big hints that helps us understand what would happen in the end. Title of the show is Radcliff which also happens to be the name of the line that divides (a) India and Pakistan and (b) India and Bangladesh.
Now if you look closely at the pattern that Shahid draws you will find that it is similar to the partition line drawn between India and Bangladesh. So Shahid has drawn one part of the Radcliff line. The other half still remains.
Finally Sarataj (Shahid's cousin) draws the other half of the Radcliff line that is between India and Pakistan.

sartaaj use his father's hand expression as pattern coz guruji think of him as ashvathama , we have two ashvathama's one was elephant and other was dronacharya's son in mahabharat gaitonde was elephant and sartaj's father as son

There will be a season 3 jaby. Coz at the very ending Gaitonde says, "My story remained unfinished sardarji. Coz you just barge into me before I could complete the story." I think they will show Guruji's life story and how he plotted everybody in Gaitonde's life to become who he was.
Season is coming in 2020

Gaitonde told sartaj that he did'nt listen his half story so in the next season his remaining story would be shown and in season 2 guruji other side will be shown how he manupulated gaitonde from the begining
