    So, to summarize:
    20CV steel: good
    aluminum scales: good (but could be a tad larger to fit larger hands better)
    plastic backspacer: good or bad, depending on whether you prefer lightweight or "quality"
    Made in U.S.A.: good (if you're in the U.S.)
    Price: great (around $80)
    Assisted open: subjective (may not be allowed where you live)
    There, just saved you 14 mins, 30 seconds

    Ordered this knife twenty minutes ago for $80 & change. USA Kershaw knives are always great deals if you use half a brain researching various vendors. I’ve got a number of BLURs and several LEEKs…in S30V, M4, Damascus, and the Carpenter tool steel, etc. …all stellar. I’ll be pleased to add this into my rotation. Very nice vid here BTW. THANKS!

      Great place to buy knives for a fair price. I've been a member since 1975.
      They have the Work Sharp Field sharpener cheaper than anywhere I've seen. It's perfect for keeping 1 or 2 knifes sharp. Sharpen 10 and you'll wear it out.

    definitely would benefit from an aluminum backspacer. Also, needs jimping for a better grip on the back side of the blade near where your thumb would go when cutting. Without tac grips or jimping it is slippery.

    The Link is a nice little knife. I agree the handle could use an extra 1/4" of length. I have a USA Made Blade exclusive Knockout in Bohler M390. Also a great little knife but also could use a little more handle. Great review.

  • @anthonym.3931
    @anthonym.3931 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I watched this review and purchased. Here is what NO ONE Mentions in their review. Apparently nobody really knows a lot about knives. The ONLY drawback on this knife is one (1). There is no jimping where your thumb would go when cutting or applying pressure. As a result it's slippery as butter. Benchmade puts jimping in the exact same spot on all their knives and on my Kershaw Blur, and all other Kershaws, it had jimping there for added grip safety. Otherwise; a great knife and value.

    I got this knife last year on sale for only $70, and it’s a cool variant of two ZT knives, which are also both assisted opening, but in different steels. That’s the really nice and lighter 0770CF in carbon fiber in S35VN, and the out of production 0770GRYBW with the same handle as the Link but in gray aluminum with an Elmax blackwash blade. All are 3.25”, and the 0770’s have a slightly smaller but functional deep pocket clip, with the screw heads off to the sides to keep them out of the way more, which helps when you put it away. They have black aluminum backspacers with alternating high and low rounded portions ((hard to describe).
    I like this Link very much, more than the slightly larger Bareknuckle, but IMO the Kershaw 20CV steel is a bit softer and holds an edge for a shorter time than the 20CV on any of the ZT’s or Benchmades or Spydercos I have with it. It sharpens up OK, but just doesn’t feel quite as polished out when I’m done. Still, when you can get 20CV for D2 prices in a nice package, you shouldn’t nit pick. Thanks for the thorough review!

      I wonder if the softer heat treat makes it tougher

    • @E.L.RipleyAtNostromo
      @E.L.RipleyAtNostromo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DL-ij7tf I don’t know, could be, but 20CV is of course very hard and I’ve never had it chip out. I’d rather have the sharpest edge possible, and the other brands I listed with that steel are sharper in comparison to the Link when fully sharpened. It’s still a great package though.

    • @DL-ij7tf
      @DL-ij7tf 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@E.L.RipleyAtNostromo Fair enough. Yeah even a soft 20CV would still make a crazy hard blade steel for that price. Props to the name by the way, Aliens is my favorite movie

    this is an insane value. my theory on how they can offer this at this price is they're subsidized by ZT so since you're already bringing in the steel just divert some to the Kershaw line at a discount and the ZT mark up covers the expense on these.

    I sat through the entire video and now understand what your likes and dislikes are about this knife, but I don't quite understand why I have to watch this BEFORE I buy a Kershaw Link. If one was not familiar with the this model then OK, good information was shared. But if I have already researched this and decided to get one, what critical information have you supplied that I needed to watch? Guess I missed the point.

    Do some homework girls, CPM-20cv is outdated by years now and has been replace by ZDP-189, M390, Elmax, CPM-S90v, S110V, CruWear, M4 and Maxamet to name a few ALL of which have 4-8 times the edge holding ability and all of you drool while acting while Kershaw is selling this knife for $80 bucks. No duh, because they know the obvious; it's outdated and surpassed steel. No jimping, plastic back spacer as opposed to aluminum or barrels like on the Blur, and after cutting every corner for quality you kids are still impressed. Must be nice to work at McDonalds and still live with mom and dad.

    Kershaws warranty is great, but if you have your knife for some time, the model gets discontinued and you cannot get it repaired. If you pass your knife onto a grandchild or someone, too bad for them if there is an issue. My buddy had a Buck given to him from his grandfather, when he needed warranty, Buck went over and above restoring this treasure that meant the world to him. I have 2 Kershaws that are useless because they no longer carry parts. I got a credit on one, but why would I buy another Kershaw?
