There may or may not be any force in the universe creating balance, but it makes sense that if you are horrible to people it increases the odds someone will do something horrible to you. Obviously its not guaranteed (as you pointed out) but it essentially becomes a numbers game, where acting a certain way can increase the odds of a certain outcome. Case in point, Dinesh is his own worst enemy because usually when he acts petty or nasty, his own poor behavior often comes back to bite him. Like when he was making fun of Gilfoyle after that code sprint, but in the end Gilfoyle made him look like a fool by faking the results (if he had just taken the supposed win and been humble in victory, he would have come off looking better when the truth was eventually revealed [even after Danny revealed he messed with both of them])

The concept of innocence versus evil is a human construct; we live on a planet where survival of the fittest is a natural law. As for terrorists living long lives, the quality of their existence is worth considering. They live in constant fear of betrayal and the uncertainty of their present and future. To me, that isn't truly living.
