  • Ken Ham and his team have a bi-weekly "news" show, reacting to the news stories of the day from a Christian young-earth creation perspective from the Answers in Genesis staff at his Creation Museum.
Seth Andrews (from The Thinking Atheist), AronRa and I join Ken Ham, Dr. Georgia Purdom, and Bodie Hodge as they discuss the the second anniversary of the Ark Encounter, Mini Neanderthal Brains, Churchgoers Stick Around for Theology, Not Music or Preachers and more in this episode of Answers News hosted in front of a live audience at the Creation Museum.

thewanderandhiscomp whoever you are I didn't ask you . Clearly though you have similar views showing absolute contempt for the Bible and Jesus Christ.
I don t know why you hold such hatred to God, but it can't be because you have done in-depth study if the Bible. I can assure you proper exegesis of scripture read in context and with applied understanding you would also be convinced that the Bible is NOT as you so vaguely described. The WORD OF GOD is not something to lightly push aside. YOU are accountable to its words, like a contract signed by someone else over you, you cannot NOT be accountable to God's LAWS .It's non negotiable, you like myself are accountable for our lives unto God and how we lived according TO his Word as His Word states all ha e sinned and all need to be saved through faith in Jesus Christ, the big question of WHY is a subject more important than anything else you will learn anywhere else.

I once worked in a hog semen processing lab. The barn that housed the boars had to have its own ventilation system. One night it failed. They lost about half their animals and one worker almost died because he went into the barn before he realized the fans weren't working. He passed out and another worker had to put on a respirator and go in after him. This took place in the space of 12 hours.

My husband and I were raised Roman Catholic. We left that church in 1992 and we jumped around going to 5 different Protestant churches seeking the truth, with each church being more liberal. We finally admitted that there is no truth in religion and at the age of 68 for me and 70 for my husband ,we are atheists. So, it's never too late.

Like "I have not seen a single creationist argument that did not use at least one of these" effective. yourlogicalfallacyis.com/
edit: In fact, I went and read through the list again out of curiosity, *I have seen 100% of these on that website used by creationists.* Every single one. And I've only been reading their stuff a few years. (first out of my mom recommending it to me when I was christian, then to point out to my mom how she needs to throw those darn things in a dumpster and stop buying them)

I left because of disagreements with doctrine (I'm gay).
I didn't become an atheist until 12 years later when I realized that there was no evidence for the exodus which just shattered my ability to believe any of it anymore.
I became an Anti-Theist because I really took an objective look at American history, and not only the hypocrisy, but the horrendous things that the Christians have done to the Native American tribes, African Americans, and the LGBT community. So much needless suffering for such pathetic reasons.

I genuinely can't imagine how hard it is for someone who has been indoctrinated into that as a child, when they reach the realisation as an adult, that everything they thought they knew about the world is wrong.

@@jonnysee2948 from your statement it does sound as you have not experienced the faith of a true believer who is saved. One who is biblically literate, one who thinks, who is articulate and quite sound. Is this true? God has chosen to use sinful, imperfect people to bring his message of eternal hope and salvation. Because people are flawed and sinful, though saved and being sanctified, they are (I am), still fallen and act in the flesh. Only God is perfect and we humans following salvation will only be fully free of sin when Christ returns and we are in his eternal presence. No coercion or brain washing in my journey now. Sure there absolutely are false teachers in the ‘church’ who set themselves up for selfish gain and use all manner of manipulation tactics to get money and adulation to fill their narcissistic hearts. When it is the Written Word of God faithfully read, studied, and mined to find God and Christ, then you will find sound and intelligent believers.

@@salgar1234 where was god when his servant (priest) was raping me as a child and my father letting him do it to me? When I cried and begged for mercy? As a kid…
Perhaps there’s a good reason it happened to me and many other kids and continues to happen all over the world? Maybe there’s a lesson there that I couldn’t learn another way? Maybe it’s just “His way.” Perhaps that religion is just used for power and control. A means of collecting tax free money? Or anything/everything like that.🤔
Truth is, you don’t know me, my story, my experience. I still believed after it all happened to me, bc people told me things like you just did (see previous message you sent). Maybe your faith made you blind, maybe it made you insensitive. Ever wonder why ANYONE would ask you to believe something else based on faith alone?
I personally don’t care what you believe or don’t. But there’s another human on the other side of this message, and one that cares enough to be real and vulnerable with you, without demanding anything from you or even knowing you. Think about that next time you close your eyes and ask for something from someone you’ve never met or seen.

I started getting disillusioned at about age 18 when my church imploded and I started church surfing. At 20 I finally lost enough of my religion to finally lose my virginity out of wedlock (gasp... I know, right? I heard that I was going to hell from my grandmother and my dad). After 9/11, when I was 21, I did a full, complete reading of the bible in earnest and started my turn to rationality. I'd still go on to get confirmed in the Episcopal church so that I could get married and it wasn't until about a few years ago when I finally ditched religion.

Diesel Jester, the day 9/11 became synonymous with religiously sanctioned and islamic government condoned mass murder, I was 21 yrs old and living in Iwakuni Japan. About 2am my entire world exploded as 3,200 US Marines bellowed out, "WE'RE GOING WAR MOTHERFUCKERS" That is when I began my 2nd read thru of the King James Version of the Bible. 2 yrs later, in one of saddam's palaces Al Hilla, Iraq, ancient Babylon, seeing all of Saddam's restoration projects and walking on 6,000 year old bricked roads. Thats when i realized that we are still fighting over the same soil, for the same reasons and all the shit my Marines and i had to see, do, hear, and can never forget. All made me think if there is a god, one as described by sunday morning preachers, their bible, the torah, and the qur'an, he would haved wiped humanity, his failed creations cleanly from this amazing blue marble we all share. In 2006 and 2007 i did my 3rd read thru after we got orders cut to go back to IQ. 2 weeks into my 2nd combat tour i tossed that book into the Euphrates after seeing what arabic muslims did to arabic christians and what those christians did to the muslims. Why would anyone want to worship some thing or some one that gets off to his creations painting Earth with each others blood?

    • @dieseljester3466
      @dieseljester3466 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

Hell, I went to a church one time that they didn't think that humans were animals because of that one line in the bible that separates humans from animals. It's in the first couple of chapters in Genesis if I recall off the top of my head. Either way, it was jaw droopingly stupid to me and I didn't stick around long.

I went to school and we were all jealous of the Jehovah witness, because they didn't have to go to the boring assemblies.
Everyone understood that we are mammals though.....

And the same people who refuse to accept humans as mammals because of the Bible totally ignore the verses (allegedly) written by Salomon where he say humans isn't different from animals.
And he is supposed to be the wisest guy ever, according to the Bible.
But of course, that is not a contradiction because.... reasons.

I was saved from Christian fundamentalism by finding a copy of Isaac Asimov's book, Inside the Atom, in my church school library. It started me down a road of asking questions, rather than accepting dogma. The believers have plenty of atmosphere. We who are skeptical need to bring in some fresh air.

if Aronra represents you as an atheist. I'd guess you go in public with a bag over your head in shame. If you actually fact check Aron(which I know none of his followers do. They have faith he's right.) you will see he's not correct on a lot of what he says.and most of what he says is a misconception or a slightly bent version of the truth to sell his "truth". Seriously, you guys will eat anything Ra tells you as truth. And boastfully proclaim your free thinking at the same time.

I believe that Ken Ham is genuine in his beliefs and assertions, including everything he claims about evolution, human ancestry, and so on. I do not believe that he's _deliberately_ and _consciously_ lying in order to deceive his audience. I do not believe that inside his head he's thinking "I know that what I'm saying is incorrect and a lie, but I'll say it anyway in order to fool my followers and hide the truth from them".
What I think is happening inside his head is that he has, over the years, and with copious amount of indoctrination (both self-indoctrination and indoctrination by others), built a mental barrier that rejects arguments when they don't align with his strongly-held beliefs. Whenever an argument is dangerously close to making sense to him and there's even a microscopic chance that it's going to cause him to doubt his own belief about the matter, his indoctrination automatically shuts the argument down and rejects it without allowing himself to think about it any further. His brain shoves all those thoughts, all those arguments aside, and his brain refuses to think about them, much less accept them.
In the same vein, whenever someone makes a claim that he likes, or he himself comes up with a claim he likes, he conversely accepts it easily, without question, without skepticism, without even trying to find out if it's actually true. Thus he starts believing that claim, and teaching it to others.
Of course he does all this in a manner that sound convincing to his audience. He's deluded, and he has built-in mental barriers, but he's not a fool. He doesn't say things that sound stupid to his target audience. He knows what his target audience will accept, and what would sound stupid. He carefully selects what he says, and what he believes, to sound convincing to himself, to his peers, and his target audience.

*I think he's lying.* If he actually believed the crap that came out of his mouth, he would have built a *full boat* rather than a vaguely boat-shaped building, *not used steel reinforcements* , and *filled it with animals as a zoo.* Because he would, naturally, believe such things would be trivially easy for him to do.
"He doesn't say things that sound stupid to his target audience" only because the target audience is brainwashed to one central claim that makes all stupid claims sound sane: "GOD SAYS IT, I BELIEVE IT, THAT SETTLES IT" in his own words that he teaches to children. It allows him to make out the entire world to be one enormous conspiracy, orchestrated by either God, Satan, or Big Science (which is of course orchestrated by Satan). Dinosaur bones being ancient? Artificially aged by god! Or by Satan! Or by science intentionally hiding the TRUE dates! Surely one of those!
It's the exact same tactics I see with flat earth conspiracists, but when you first assert the magical god who can do ANYTHING for ANY reason, then, by consequence, *ANYTHING* will sound reasonable.
But, if talking to religious people has taught me anything, it's that it is *very* hard to distinguish between a liar and a deluded person, because all con artists attempt to masquerade as the latter, and can even eventually trick their own brain into believing the lies (which fools polygraph tests).

    • @WarpRulez
      @WarpRulez 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

It is possible for a deeply indoctrinated person to shove aside thoughts like "it wouldn't actually be possible to build a boat of that size with wood only, and capable of floating in water". He just doesn't want to think about it, and if directly asked, he will immediately make up rationalizations and excuses. This does make him dishonest, but not necessarily _deliberately_ so. I don't think he's thinking inside his head _"yeah, all this is just a big sham to make me rich, and I don't care; haha, all those fools paying me big money for this BS. People are so gullible and easy to exploit. Losers."_
I think he's being genuine, but just fooling and deluding himself with an enormous amount of rationalizations and sophistry.

It occurred to me that their organization is essentially dying. I mentioned this to my wife and one of the pastors and asked if they considered treating it as such and come to terms with the idea that their church will die at some point. Why fight it? The problem here is most Christians will not read anything to complement the bible's history.....I have tried many times to get people who wave the bible at me and want me to read it. By telling them to read it but this time to look up what they read with actual research. There are little markers next to words and verses that lead to definitions and explanations in most bibles.....I tell them research it through history find out exactly why Hebrews did a thing and why. This happens often when I point out the revenge on the midianites chapter when I tell people that in that time most women where married by 12-14 years old so when the bible says "those who have not known the touch of a man" it literally means all young girls 14 and younger were taken as sex slaves.

Are shipbuilders people who make shipbuildings? If so, many of them would have become unemployed after shipbuilding the Ark Discounter.

Zoo. Though they'll have to cut down the amount of animals in it drastically, since those comically tiny cages and poor conditions would kill the animals within the month.

You can better take your $40 and visit the Efteling in the Netherlands... like the Ark Encounter, it's full of fairytales too (but they don't pretend those stories to be true ;) ) and they also charge $10 for parking but it's a total of $50 better spent ;) Oh, and the coasters in the Efteling are fun ;)

@Jorge Amado Soria Ramírez Good call. 'Simony' is a word that has fallen out of use and it is good to see it used correctly. I think most of the evangelical preachers are simoners, literally 'selling what belongs to God' (assuming they believe in what they say.)
