Thank you so much! I just wrote my first song and it’s called ‘everything’s offensive’ and it’s about how everyone takes things too seriously and gets offended so easily these days. It is kind of in a style similar to bo burnhams. It’s a comedic song and I’m gonna perform it at my school talent show and maybe upload the video

yes, i do feel inspired and motivated to write! thank you for making short videos that fill in the musical knowledge gaps I have! your voice also gives me more confidence, as its sweet instead of annoying, as I usually see soprano voices (pretty much only mine, to be honest lol). gotta work on that lack of self steem. any tips? keep the videos coming, babe xx
Yay! I'm glad you feel inspired and motivated to write... have fun! In regards to working on self esteem - have patience in knowing that self esteem is a process, and remember to be kind to yourself. Encourage yourself, remind yourself that the skills you want to attain (whether it's songwriting related, or self esteem related) will most likely not occur overnight, so it's important not to give up or lose hope :)

Subscribed after watching this. Amazing. So thankful i found your channel. The song i've written got picked in one of the songwriting competitions here in our country but honestly i know nothing about the techniques in songwriting. I just hear melodies in my head then i put lyrics then i'll record it and ask somebody to make instrumentals. I will watch your videos to start learning

I like the way you reorder the chord progressions but sorry pretty much every line is a cliche. what I do to avoid using singing in cliches is to either subvert the cliche into something else or just say the cliche with different words.
for example if your original line is
'hard times come and hard times go'
you could subvert the expectation to
'hard times come and hard times stay' or 'hard times come and hard times soften'
or you could imply the cliche without actually saying it like
'gunmetal clouds surrounding lifting, looming heavens can't forever prey'
or more simply like ' tough times will pass this much you know'
but yeah whatever no rules and all that..! :oP
Hi Sam, this song was intentionally written to be cliche and easily digestible to anyone at any songwriting level. I am a fan of cliche's and do not find them to make a song of lesser value or integrity. However, it is also good to challenge yourself here and there to find creative ways to re-write cliche's just as you did. If the point of a song is to spread a message or tell a story, some listeners may receive it best in the form of cliche's, while others may receive it best in a less cliche, storytelling format. I am not offended at all that you pointed out my entire song is cliche's, but I like to teach others that their song is no less well-written due to cliche lyrics.

How can someone be this happy
To be completely honest with you, I am so happy because of the fact that God loves me unconditionally. This brings me so much peace and joy no matter what life brings. That doesn't mean I'm never sad - I experience a full range of emotions just like anyone does; it's just that I know that I can rely on God to carry me through those more challenging times.
I remember this being a video I rewatched like a year ago and now it's in my recommended. Nice seeing again.
