Get a crossbow with +7 projectile and around 210% elemental damage to attacks, 135% + 3 socketed soul cores, then go attack speed nodes. It's crazy. Also there's a crossbow coming soon that gvies you +1 to ballista totems.

I play ripewire with gemling legion maxing out dex and accuracy for those two passive that grants attack speed per accuracy and dex. Also building crit chance, that support that gives crit for immob enemies is nice for ripwire maim / pin. if you get enough pierce and chain from terrain ripwire goes nuts, specially inside maps. Also testing new options with poison rn.

I wonder how terrible it would be to go explosive shot for clear and ballista for single target, Maybe you could go Gemling to make the stat requirements more manageable and pathing to totem nodes easier. idk if it's worth trying, but if u use the crossbow only to place the ballista and then swap to a bow with +5 lvl to proj skills, edwa and 3 sockets with edwa paired with a quiver with +2 lvl to proj skills, attack speed, adds # to # fire/lightning/phys/cold and proj speed. Imo it could be better than using only the crossbow bc of the added flat damage of the quiver. One last thing, idk if using the amulet with +1 limit is worth bc if u have 3 total totems, going to 4 is going to increase the damage abt 33% and i'm prety sure that the +3 proj in the amulet give more damage than 33%

I had a level 80 ballista character and it felt so bad, also tooltips are scuffed, no idea what scales it, almost everything seems to.. I was testing a sceptre switch off hand too

Evasion as dfefense+Reverb shield drumming is amazingly strong as far as hardcore/minimum death mentality goes. Doesnt clear even close to as fast as trigger and archmage builds tho.
I got a feeling Howa is getting gutted in the next patch... Currently, it just feels like the only correct way to play attack builds is to take the bare minimum DEX/STR, ignore Life entirely, wear ES gear, then invest every possible passive into the top part of the tree.. I like the idea of INT stacking on an attack based build, so I'd like to see it still be a niche viable item.. but knowing GGG, they'll likely nerf this item so hard it can't be used while also nerfing ES so hard that nobody will want to go to the top half of the tree if at all possible.
You could maybe use invoker to get a bunch of extra spirit and use ancestral bond and have more totems and gain extra damage as lightening and cold to have chill and more shock
@owlmostdead9492ikr it just really feels like it's still in early access/beta.There is only 6 of the promised 12 classes, we don't even get all of the ascendancies. Hardly any skill and support gems, and the end game seems thrown together. I think they need to pull it off the market and let it cook for another 3 years at least. This is the most shit game I've ever played, already asked for a refund.

ziz won't make any effect on build prices as gear for stat stackers is already the most expensive in the game, more expensive than setting up a temporalis character which makes absolutely no sense when temporalis is 10x faster and better

Does flat damage from jewelry add to the ballista? Does flat (ele) dmg from weapons add to the ballista? I would assume the answer is Yes, No? It makes sense that edwa on weapons works because that's a global modifier.
I've got artillery ballista to work on pinnacle bosses, it's actually crazy. I need to swap to deadeye though, im doing it on witch hunter and missing tailwind + other skill speed nodes is very wasteful.
i built up a nice totem build only to remember that nearly all totems need a actual weapon that can deal damage even though the totem doesn't use your weapon at all. ancestral bond is just a big middle finger for some reason. uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
the devs need to separate class from the weapon u shouldn't need a hammer on to do a warcry or totem YET u can learn any wizard spells willy nilly🤷 id suggest the devs make 4 basce class skill buckets 1🪣mages/casters 2🪣tanke/fighters 3🪣scouts/infiltrators 4🪣healers/supports .. & put everything that's not wep specific in a buckets that fits the theme
gemling inf better for art totems. better scaling and easier to get to area of effect which aoes 3/4 the map and dont need proj speed gem to hit everything 100% of the time. 30% cost reduction is also massive from gemling cause its very expensive to put down the totems 20+

You should look into Steelmages shoutbarb tree, and then alter it, fairly sure you can reach good ES nodes and the all stat wheel.

The mid air doesn't count for ballista point blank bonus, its is coded the same in POE 1 its a straight line from the unit

weapon swapping snapshots the weapon and tree at the time before the swap happens

increased attack speed from weapon does not work for totems, but increased attack speed from other sources in your gear like the in gloves works.

What are your thoughts on a blocking build with something like a svalin? Or just a shield only build using the shield skills for your damage?

Do ballistas benefit from passive tree nodes? The ones that boost AOE, attack or physical damage? How about attack speed?
Yeah they do its so odd. They scale off everything for you except your weapon lol
