Agreed. And Ellie immediately regretted it and had even more trauma because of it..... Yet later Abby was about to kill Dina with no remorse KNOWING she was pregnant. No matter what anyone says, Abby is the worse of the two. Ellie showed so much more remorse and regret for her actions and understood her mistakes every step of the way (I will admit she still let emotions drive her until the end, so she didn’t fully learn until she ended up alone) But it took Abby....honestly too long to realize her mistakes, and she still didn’t show remorse for her actions against Joel or really anyone. Ellie felt guilt and had more trauma piling up with every mistake she made. And she was out of control because she was led by emotions. Abby was calculated in trapping Joel, beat him to death and knowingly tried to kill a pregnant woman. And then at some point was just like “eh, apparently I have a kid now and everyone else is dead so I’ll stop being a horrible person I GUESS.” And it was soooo too little too late.
On a side note, the panic attack Ellie had was actually done very well, from the sound in your ears that completely smothers your hearing and everything, until 2:41. The ringing/hissing in your ears never just stops that abruptly, it goes away slowly. I have 2 really bad phobias, so I speak from experience lols.
Funny how Mel is only wearing that coat in this scene which perfectly hides her bumb. Can't even claim its cold, Owen is there wearing a shirt. Also throughout the entire game they cannot stop saying she is pregnant, yet under threat they don't ask Ellie just to let her walk away for that very reason.
I will say it also doesn’t make sense that Mel is the one in the coat since Owen is the one that wants to go to the island that second. Yet again she is pregnant and that aquarium is probably hella cold and leaky so anything to stay comfortable

owen is probably one of the better characters in terms of morals in the apocalypse but man if only he'd just put mel and the baby over abby... idk why people say it's bad writing when right before this, he tries to leave mel alone to help abby and abby tells him to get his priorities in order. even after that, he's STILL trying to convince mel to risk her life for abby when she's carrying his child... he always prioritized abby over mel and the baby and it ended up getting both him and mel killed that was kinda the whole point lol

Owen completely dropped the ball. He shouldn't have gotten with Mel to begin with, Abby was a nice girl for him and if he was just a better man a lot of this story wouldn't have happened. Maybe he could've eased Abby's pain, and she could've given up her revenge campaign,

Of all the really dumb plot contrivances in this game, that one is probably the most glaring. How tf does Mel not let those be the first words she says to this new threat?! Of everyone in Abby's group, Mel was the one I truly wanted to see survive.

I love this scene because it shows Ellie is starting to go crazy over her revenge on Abby but she is still trying to be calm and spare whoever gives her what she wants, but at the same time it was Owen and Mel’s fault that they died because Owen tried to attack Ellie and she killed him in self defense and the killed Mel in self defense and I think she wouldn’t have killed them if she knew that Mel was pregnant overall this scene shows Ellie’s rage is making her unstable and she is really struggling to keep it together and she gets angry easier then she usually would, she’s more reckless, she makes bad decisions that could kill her or her friends and that she is just killing everyone even if their innocent. It also shows that Abby never should’ve killed Joel because that caused her friends to die, and it caused Ellie’s friends to die, they both started a war with each other and everyone is in the wrong of this entire game.

They probably would have assumed they were ambushed by Seraphites tbh Maybe or maybe not though, I forgot Abby had a whole confrontation with Tommy earlier on, it’s possible she may have assumed it was Tommy, but without the map she wouldn’t have known where to go… chances are she may have found her way back to Jackson with them
This scene reminds me of when Joel led Ellie out of the burning restaurant after she killed David and had a similar reaction. Except here it was Tommy. I wish we saw more of their relationship, Tommy really cared for Ellie too.
And Abby. If I remember correctly, when you watch Joel's death scene from her perspective later on in the game, she throws away the golf club and says "We're done"
Wonder how scared Mel truly is? She went with Abby to kill Joel (Her fault, she knew what she was getting into); she then hates Abby because she knows her true character (wishes she didn’t go); in her last moments she knows she’s dying for something Abby wanted! And Abby gets to live! Ouch!
This scene was so stupid, Mel's character is so stupid. She's 8 months pregnant and goes out on patrol with Abby, then this scene happens, she's conveniently wearing a quilted coat even though it's supposed to be summer, doesn't even say "wait I'm pregnant" you know, like a normal functioning human would've done in this type of situation to not only save themselves and their unborn child. THEN there's Owen who's the father of said child and he's not in the least bit concerned about Mel's recklessness nor does he open his mouth about it either. This is just God awful

Ellie is a horrible character and I don't like her she's completely bitching at Joel like she doesn't want him in her life their relationship isn't the same in TLOU1, the story mode is way too long 30 hours I lost track of everything, and the development of the game is horrible while playing Ellie for hours you don't even kill any of Abby's friends for hours when you get to where they we're they're already dead, but you finally kill some of them at the end of playing Ellie, and playing Abby is a whole different story and a waste of time and doesn't make any sense of TLOU2 and I hate her, she's comes in out of nowhere and kills off Joel the main character of TLOU we don't know why she did that but we finally find out for playing 10 hours which is a stupid way to show after killing off Joel and the story didn't make any sense the whole time. The game is also a message. All the male characters are being killed off and keeping all the female characters alive, and all the female characters are feminine they all look like guys and also pregnant women fighting. The game supports femininism, which is stupid, and once the game is horrible.

The mistake here wasn't on Ellie or Mel. Owen made the move that decided their fate, but it wasn't just at the cost of their lives, but part of Ellie's sanity. She shouldn't have to live with that.
Mel also shouldn’t have attacked Ellie after she shot Owen either though. Could have begged and had some sort of motherly instinct kick in screaming that she’s pregnant and to spare her, which Ellie would have done

It took me almost while to realize this but the relationship between Abby Owen and Mel is supposed to contrast with the relationship between Ellie Dina and Jesse Edit: also according to some concept art, Ellie was originally gonna go to the island
Yeah even though I don't like Abby or the people in her group, the only one I actually felt sympathy for was Mel. She seemed sweet, innocent, and she didn't deserve that. She should have stopped being Abby's friend a long time ago and should have just told Ellie where Abby was, and to have never reached for the gun. So yeah she didn't deserve her death or being with her so called friend and boyfriend. And if I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty sure she basically told Abby in the beginning of her story that maybe it wasn't an good idea to go after Joel or to have killed him because it was an ultimate risk. Call me crazy if you want but I still blame Abby for Mel's death. After killing Joel, she didn't realize or think about the risk that it put her and her friends. One of the rules in Art Of War, why you think in part 1, Joel wasn't taking that much risk by being involved with other people, besides Sam and his brother. So yeah Abby wasn't a good soldier at all. The rest of the crew, I didn't give a damn about. They deserved it ⚰⚰⚰✌✌✌

Both Abby and Ellie were tragic characters losing those that they love around them. Both were blinded by their hatred and vengeance towards each other that it costed them the lives of those around them.

Ellie regrets killing them both, if Mel and Owen had spoke up sooner about Mel being pregnant. Ellie would have lower her gun and let them both live and turned around and left. if they had spoken up a lot sooner, Ellie would not have killed Mel and Owen if they had told them they were both expecting a child.

Probably the worst written scene in an otherwise great game. Owen is older, bigger and a veteran fighter, and he gets both his hands, attached to some arms that are 2'5x Ellie's, on her gun in the struggle. Ellie is not getting the upper hand there in any scenario lmao. It also suffers from the typical "second enemy passivity" stigma in so many games and films; wtf is Mel doing while Owen and Ellie are struggling for the gun? The second Owen gets his hands in there she'd have got involved too if it was realistic. And then Mel, a pregnant woman half the size of Owen, wrestles Ellie's gun from her easily with one single hand pull. Like what? I get it was done this way to show clearly how Owen ultimately cared about Abby before anyone else, including his pregnant ex-girl, but the idea was very poorly translated into the scene. Very intense and cathartic on progression/emotional level but broke my immersion.
Man Owen should’ve put Mel over Abby anytime and tell Abby’s location and also mention that Mel is pregnant, I get it Owen used to love Abby but fuck it man, Mel is pregnant with his child and it would’ve been better if they just got away somewhere far from Ellie and Abby
Everyone did bad things including Joel and those have consequences and that's why he was killed. Idk why u said "except Joel" though. I think this part 2 is just about blood for blood story. Like "You killed my father so I will kill yours and the cycle repeats"
I think the point is for the player to realize Ellie killed a pregnant woman and even if Mel was a POS (which she was) that’s still very fucked up and it’s used to give Ellie a valid reason to give up back at the theatre before Abby finds them. While it’s good to empathize with characters, I don’t think this game is trying to make the player feel guilty nearly as much as everyone claims. Rather it’s just supposed to make the audience disgusted and feel sad that this is the life Ellie is choosing. I don’t think the game is trying to make YOU feel guilt. This isn’t a choice based game nor is it an RPG. Ellie is meant to be her own character with her own dissonances between hers and the players beliefs/motivations.

Ngl man, Ellie kinda wiped out everyone Abby was close to. Owen and Mel I think generally were good people too, Abby went berserk for revenge, same with Ellie. I understand the hatred for Abby but Joel killed her dad, logically speaking, Joel only knew Ellie for a year, I honestly think he should’ve allowed them to do the surgery on Ellie. In my opinion, Joel did save Abby and that’s why a lot of people were mad that she killed him. I think it’s the significance of Ellie’s condition and it being her dad I get both sides. Best written game I’ve ever seen.

I love this scene because it shows Ellie is starting to go crazy over her revenge on Abby but she is still trying to be calm and spare whoever gives her what she wants, but at the same time it was Owen and Mel’s fault that they died because Owen tried to attack Ellie and she killed him in self defense and the killed Mel in self defense and I think she wouldn’t have killed them if she knew that Mel was pregnant overall this scene shows Ellie’s rage is making her unstable and she is really struggling to keep it together and she gets angry easier then she usually would, she’s more reckless, she makes bad decisions that could kill her or her friends and that she is just killing everyone even if their innocent. It also shows that Abby never should’ve killed Joel because that caused her friends to die, and it caused Ellie’s friends to die, they both started a war with each other and everyone is in the wrong of this entire game.

Ellie is a horrible character and I don't like her she's completely bitching at Joel like she doesn't want him in her life their relationship isn't the same in TLOU1, the story mode is way too long 30 hours I lost track of everything, and the development of the game is horrible while playing Ellie for hours you don't even kill any of Abby's friends for hours when you get to where they we're they're already dead, but you finally kill some of them at the end of playing Ellie, and playing Abby is a whole different story and a waste of time and doesn't make any sense of TLOU2 and I hate her, she's comes in out of nowhere and kills off Joel the main character of TLOU we don't know why she did that but we finally find out for playing 10 hours which is a stupid way to show after killing off Joel and the story didn't make any sense the whole time.
The game is also a message. All the male characters are being killed off and keeping all the female characters alive, and all the female characters are feminine they all look like guys and also pregnant women fighting. The game supports femininism, which is stupid, and once the game is horrible.

Yeah even though I don't like Abby or the people in her group, the only one I actually felt sympathy for was Mel. She seemed sweet, innocent, and she didn't deserve that. She should have stopped being Abby's friend a long time ago and should have just told Ellie where Abby was, and to have never reached for the gun. So yeah she didn't deserve her death or being with her so called friend and boyfriend. And if I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty sure she basically told Abby in the beginning of her story that maybe it wasn't an good idea to go after Joel or to have killed him because it was an ultimate risk. Call me crazy if you want but I still blame Abby for Mel's death. After killing Joel, she didn't realize or think about the risk that it put her and her friends. One of the rules in Art Of War, why you think in part 1, Joel wasn't taking that much risk by being involved with other people, besides Sam and his brother. So yeah Abby wasn't a good soldier at all.

2:26 It's interesting how Ellie breaks down throwing up after realizing that she killed a pregnant girl. Whereas later on Abby breaksdown throwing up seeing Owen dead. Both Abby and Ellie were tragic characters losing those that they love around them. Both were blinded by their hatred and vengeance towards each other that it costed them the lives of those around them.

Probably the worst written scene in an otherwise great game. Owen is older, bigger and a veteran fighter, and he gets both his hands, attached to some arms that are 2'5x Ellie's, on her gun in the struggle. Ellie is not getting the upper hand there in any scenario lmao. It also suffers from the typical "second enemy passivity" stigma in so many games and films; wtf is Mel doing while Owen and Ellie are struggling for the gun? The second Owen gets his hands in there she'd have got involved too if it was realistic. And then Mel, a pregnant woman half the size of Owen, wrestles Ellie's gun from her easily with one single hand pull. Like what?
I get it was done this way to show clearly how Owen ultimately cared about Abby before anyone else, including his pregnant ex-girl, but the idea was very poorly translated into the scene. Very intense and cathartic on progression/emotional level but broke my immersion.

Everyone did bad things including Joel and those have consequences and that's why he was killed. Idk why u said "except Joel" though. I think this part 2 is just about blood for blood story. Like "You killed my father so I will kill yours and the cycle repeats"
I think the point is for the player to realize Ellie killed a pregnant woman and even if Mel was a POS (which she was) that’s still very fucked up and it’s used to give Ellie a valid reason to give up back at the theatre before Abby finds them.
While it’s good to empathize with characters, I don’t think this game is trying to make the player feel guilty nearly as much as everyone claims. Rather it’s just supposed to make the audience disgusted and feel sad that this is the life Ellie is choosing.
I don’t think the game is trying to make YOU feel guilt. This isn’t a choice based game nor is it an RPG. Ellie is meant to be her own character with her own dissonances between hers and the players beliefs/motivations.

They’re all Ellie’s age so they probably don’t care about Ellie being a teenager, since they’re in their teens/20’s themselves. Owen deserved to die but Mel was just plain stupid

Ngl man, Ellie kinda wiped out everyone Abby was close to. Owen and Mel I think generally were good people too, Abby went berserk for revenge, same with Ellie. I understand the hatred for Abby but Joel killed her dad, logically speaking, Joel only knew Ellie for a year, I honestly think he should’ve allowed them to do the surgery on Ellie. In my opinion, Joel did save Abby and that’s why a lot of people were mad that she killed him. I think it’s the significance of Ellie’s condition and it being her dad I get both sides. Best written game I’ve ever seen.
