On April 18, 2024, Kento Momota announced his retirement, officially ending his 11-year career as a Japanese national team athlete. The Thomas Cup 2024 will mark Momota's final international competition. Congratulations to him and the team on their achievements. Kento Momota retires from the Japanese national badminton team. Thank you for your hard work as a representative of Japan for nearly a decade. Leading the forefront of Japanese badminton, he has showcased many remarkable performances that will remain in records and memories. Kento Momota has accepted and overcome numerous challenges. In the future, he will support activities and new challenges aimed at promoting badminton.
Kento Momota's exceptional skill and relentless spirit on the badminton court have been a beacon of inspiration for me. His mastery of the game and unwavering determination showcased the heights that can be reached through hard work and dedication. Hearing about his retirement leaves me with a profound sense of sadness, as his presence in the sport has been truly remarkable. Momota's departure from professional badminton marks the end of an era, but his legacy will continue to inspire countless players, including myself, to strive for greatness both on and off the court.
Kento Momota might actually have the worst story out of all players, not in like he's bad but the fact that he has had so many setbacks and his dreams taken so many times, despite this, he still is playing badminton and still love the sport, and you gotta respect that.
Imagine what Momota could've done if it weren't for that one accident. He would have been unstoppable. But the fact that he has the strength to continue playing in tournaments is an achievement in itself. If he hasn't given up on himself, neither should we.

Guys, I feel so sorry for him. This man is so inspiring and Thank you @ThisisBadminton for showing his journey so well. I want to see him win the olympic Gold
My favorite person in the world is "Kento Momota". I admire everything about him, his passion and manners, playstyle. His life story is full of ups and downs and his old ups were taken away from an accidet and back injury. I truly sympathize with him. I have thought about it many times, wishing there hadn't been an accident and back injury. But he could win in Korea in 2023. he overcame the obstacle. It is why I think he is a legend. I wish for him to find comfort in happiness. I will continue to support him from Japan. Thank you for making the great video!!
I feel like that last sentence of him saying "The word "Go forward" is written here." is such a good ending for this video. He is one of the best badminton players oat
He, who has to start all over again for a 2nd time surely will not be easy. The fact that he said badminton is not fun anymore truly shows how this series of unfortunate events were taking a toll on him. Momota has suffered from such adversary during his playing career, especially in regards to his olympic runs, near the end of the 2010s Momota had the badminton world in his hands - he really had no challenger - it seemed like he was destined to dominate for years to come.
