Haters comments can say all you want. I have been a Malaysian badminton followers for almost 50 years. I have watched winners like Tan Aik Huang, Punch Gunlan, Tan Aik Mong ( Aik Huang brother), James Selvaraj, Sylvia Ng (lady Single player), Ong Yew Hock, Foo Kok Keong, Misbun Sidek, Lee Chong Wei, however, Lee Zii Jia is different from the rest. Most of current opponents fear of playing against LZJ because of his thunderous smashes. Lee Zii Jia has talents like "Super" Lin Dan, Yang Yang and Zhao Jian Hua of China. Coming June & July 2024, once Lee Zii Zia win the Olympic Gold medal 🏅 in Paris 2024, surely all will be forgotten. All the best LZJ, even you lose a match, you are still my Champion of all Badminton 🏸 players in the world.

This guy is my absolute favourite player and the main reason why I keep watching tournaments. Everytime a tournament ends, I look through all next ones to see if he's playing. The match against Axelsen in the all England 2021 actually made me cry of joy to see him play the absolute best badminton I'd ever seen. It's still my favourite match to rewatch. LCW used to be my favourite before his retirement, now it is LZJ. Not because they're from the same country but because both players have such a unique style. Everytimes he plays now, I'm really hoping to see the 2021 LZJ again. I thought it was happening in this year's all England but sadly not. However I will not lose faith and never will. This guy absolutely has the potential to be the number 1 of the world in his prime, with his inhumanly strong attack maybe even surpassing LCW at his prime. I keep my fingers crossed everytime he plays now. If by any chance he himself is reading this: you are my inspiration. Please never give up and don't let yourself get dragged down by others. There will always be plenty of people who believe in you and I sure am one of them. You inspire me to become a better player and play like you one day. I'm currently recovering from an ACL reconstruction but I plan on coming back stronger. Much love from Belgium. I hope to meet you one day.

Not everyone is as lucky as Lee Chong wei that got all the resources to help him get fame…Lee Chong wei is the richest athlete at his prime when government is putting all the resources on him during the time when najib was the prime minister…see how many sponsor Lee got and how many resources he got compared to zii jia…can’t blame zii jia finding another way to get rich at this era as not all people are Lee Chong wei right? All of us also want to drive fancy car, living luxurious life and financial freedom…so what’s wrong when youngster want to find another way in making money? Besides, I don’t think it’s bad decision for zii jia to pursue his career as professional player. There are at least two benefits I can state. One is to prevent injury as the training style zii jia atBAM NOT SUITABLE for him…we heard a lot of news zii jia has to retired due to injury…can I say that the training program set by BAM was having some problems? Second, our national team is only able to train one player to be at his best at a time due to financial problem…If u guys had followed budget Malaysia all along, you will see that government allocated how many money to sport division? In the end to support the BAM, how much fund can they get in the end? Zii jia leaving and now we got tze yong coming up now…look at the past, Lee using all the resources(not saying Lee is selfish) and BAM is lack of resources to train another pro athlete…every team competition only one top men’s single athlete can secure the point. Shame.
In short, I don’t think his leaving is a bad decision, at least when he’s in the team fight he always perform great.

Hi, I'm an oldster and I agree with you on him turning to professionalism to control his own destiny. Many haters think leaving BAM is treason hahahaha, I've been watching tennis since the 1980s and in tennis basically all the players especially the Top 20 ranked players are professionals so it's definitely the norm. Badminton is now going that route, just look at the Denmark players. To me NTY stroke play is vulnerable when you don't have a strong physique and it looks like NTY cannot sustain a hard training regimen. I like Justin Hoh more.

All the drama aside, if we purely consider the technicalities, I honestly don’t think he’s a great player (I can already hear all the fans calling me a hater). But hear me out, while his strong attacks did earn him an early success, his play-style quickly gets analysed and countered soon. That’s why we never see him play like he did in All England again. And for a long time he seemed to be stagnant and unable to breakthrough his own obstacles. If we look at legends like Lin Dan or Lee Chong Wei, they’re very all-rounded versatile players, because badminton isn’t just one style fits all, you need to be strong in every aspect. And I think LZJ is still far from that, his skills just aren’t good enough, he still has a long way to go, a few wins here and there isn’t gonna make you great. Anyway, I say we stop putting him under the spotlight, if he loses, just let him be, failing is in itself a lesson. He’s just not as great as we’d hoped, just think of him as a regular player. We have to focus on something else, he doesn’t deserve all the attention, which is actually hindering his growth. Let go of your expectations, and he might just actually grow into something significant.

It is a pity that when the audience is putting pressure to compare the final results to past champions, it ruins the gameplay of the sport. Sports is fun to watch for the techniques and play style, not just obtain medals to compare with previous champions.

In another era, what LZJ has achieved would've earned him legendary status. But he, for better or worse, follows the legendary LCW and how do you beat that? I think that's the yardstick fans in Malaysia have been measuring him with. It's a tall act to replicate the next LCW. His biggest problem is not his shit attitude, Lin Dan has shit attitude as well. His main issue is that he is lacking technically. His early successes are possible only because he managed to compensate his inadequacies with simple yet effective attacking plays . But as more players analysed his game, they are able to counter him, forcing him to play a more balanced game with longer rallies. That’s when all his weaknesses and lack of variation became apparent. Ng Tze Yong is actually more accomplished than him technically, of course TZ has other problems now.

Still amazes me why does BAM still using indon coaches. The lack of tactical intelegent destroys Malaysian talents.
Just because Hendrawan was coaching LCW doesn't make him a great coach! and they kick out Jeremy and hire that javanese indon as a head coach 😂

    • @jayrocks279
      @jayrocks279 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +17

NTY is just a propped up boy by BAM to save face, he's no where near LZJ's level with H2H between the two being very obvious and he will never overtake LZJ convincingly until LZJ's retirement. A few wonder wins over higher ranking players by NTY was all because of new found confidence and at the same time his opponents were unfamiliar with him, exactly just like how LZJ started.
      .
Once NTY is fully studied by his opponents in the long run, he'll not sustain his prowess and will slowly fade away. It takes real attitude and overall mental & physical strength to be Champion and NTY does not have all that. LZJ 2023's failures were part of the maturing process for all badminton players, even LCW gone through such shitty period. This is how players matures and once they've crossed this mid term hurdle, they will have better and more stable performances, and with enough luck they'll go on to be top and legendary players. Just look at Viktor Axelsen these days, he went through he same shitty period like LZJ during LCW's era, survived and go on to win big things. LZJ is now surviving all these and will soon emerge to achieve great things as well. TRUST THE PROCESS.
      .
All great winners have shitty attitude. It's that shitty attitude that makes opponents crumbles. This is why Lin Dan is the real winner and LCW is not. LCW is legendary not because he is a winner. LCW sustained being world no.1 for the longest time only proved that he was a workhorse that participated in almost all available tournaments of his time. A workhorse is not a winner, Olympic + Thomas Cup + All-England is the winner and that is Lin Dan. LZJ is going Lin Dan & Chen Long's way.
      .

In all honesty, every badminton player will have a story to tell. LZJ however lacks humility. He wins a long rally and dances, instead of reflecting as too why he had to play so hard to earn that one point. Sure, he does that to boost confident and mentally shake his opponent, but his inconsistent performance doesn't allow him to do so. He first needs to reflect on his character humility and humbleness.

@@waterbottlethatalsolikesme1670 bruh even kevin shakes hand with his opponents, its already like a reflect to badminton players, but that dance is what backfires him, confident and cocky is 2 sides of the same coin. Doing this may get him lots of supporters, but at the same time haters. The fact that he can only win ss500 rn is not a good sign and stage for him to dance, for the past 15months he only won 2 smaller competitions and he lost in R1 10times in those 15months, the moment he wins 1 round or 2 he dances, just gave the haters more reason to bash him. If he wins a final against a tough opponent and dances, its cool af but not in R2 or QF. Even Marin got haters due to her loud shouting but she proves her capability by winning a gold in the olympics, moreover she's been quite consistent throughout her whole career, often reaching QF, SF or finals whenever she joins.

Sampai krg Tat Meng dah coach 10 bulan, tak dpt lihat dia pegi mana pun. BAM offer RTG, tak nak join mcm sampai nak telingkah dgn sesiapa saje kat BAM. LCW tegur tapi tak layan. Sini dp lihat betapa besar kepalanya. Bukan nak ckp apa, attitude dia mmg tak humble langsung tu punca segalanya. Bila menang, mcm dirasuk hantu celebrate, apa tu. Humble la sikit. Ginting & Jonathan pun best example - humble saje... tak pyh pegi jauh sgt nak compare.. kat Msia, LCW pun jarang celebrate sampai gila.. LCW mmg layak celebrate mcm mana pun, kan dia legend & tahap yg bukan semua blh capai.
Yg si LZJ ni, teknikal tak kuat, hanya depend serangan skill saje, mmg tak blh pegi mana. Semua dah tau game dia, kalau dia asyik tak blh improve teknikal dia, ni mcm la.. asyik early rd exit.. Axlesen tu a complete player.. All England 2021 mcm satu fluke.... masa tu semua tak tau dia sgt...

Like to give my two cents worth on LZH. Mention LZJ and it seems to be linked to controversy. You either like him or you don't. Funny it seems there is no middle ground.
I strongly believe much of the controversy is of his own making.
He just can't deal with the negative comments he gets on the social media and tends to respond rather strongly. It creates a vicious cycle of response that delights his detractors. He should realised by now that his haters loves to see him upset and will only encourage them to do more of the same. You think LCW don't get hate mail? The volume of hateful comments will simmer down if they don't get the response they expect.
An even more crucial factor that l believe to be responsible for him being in this awkward position is the high expectations that is expected of him. Not only from others, but those from within himself. Realise that every player that ever had an outstanding career does not necessary follow the same pattern.
Some have a journey like going up Mount Everest, slow and challenging but always up. Some have starts that break records but never really get to the top. Then there are those who stay under the radar but later in the journey eventually starts summiting the top regularly. Perhaps there too much, too soon expected of him from the badminton faculty and fan? Perhaps he himself started believing that he must explode of the blocks and instantly perform at the highest level day in day out?
Ones career and performances is not rated at the beginning but at the end of it. Turn a deft ear to your detractors remarks, do not make unrealistic promises or try to fulfill other people's expectations Be satisfied and be at peace with what you have gotten so far. With the right mindset, patience and believe in your own capabilities, everything is possible.
