    Not really into anime, so I really like that you’re branching into live action.
    What I love about this movie is that it shows the differences between the social classes really well. It starts with the toilet above the ground floor, like this family is socially classed below the toilet. Same with the storm, the rich’s family gets their fun little camping trip canceled, while the other family’s house gets flooded. The fighting between the old maid and the poor family also shows how the lower classes tear eachother down for a better place.

    Exactly - A twisted comedy in so many ways for the first half. Then the doorbell rings and it suddenly turned into a shocking unbelievable moment by moment finish. Who knew it could be so outstanding? An A+ --- Unique and unpredictable at every turn. So deserving of the best picture award.

    One thing I think folks miss is the rock is fake. It literally was floating when they went back to their apartment. And it’s why the son didn’t have his skull crushed more. And the meaning behind a rich kid giving his friend a fake rock that supposedly brings good luck is just another hidden gem in this movie.

    • @Multilipstik
      @Multilipstik 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This. I’ve yet to see a single reactioner who notices that the rock is fake. Even though the camera literally stops for a few seconds to show that it floats in the water. I think that the rock symbolizes the chance of getting a better life. The rock is introduced at the same time as Min-hyuk offers Ki-woo a well paying job. We find out that the rock is fake just after the disastrous night when they are almost caught by the rich family. Just like the rock was a fake, the audience starts wondering if the possibility of a better life is a futile dream to a Kim family. The father of the family even asks Ki-woo at the shelter as to why he keep clinging to the rock. And just like to the rock, Ki-woo keeps clinging to the idea that he can have a better life with the daughter of the rich family. And then the rock literally comes down on him and destroys any possibility of that life.
      The rich friend gifting him a fake rock is in a way a commentary on how rich people often say that they would like to help those in need, but are actually unwilling to sacrifice their own comfort for the sake of others, thus gifting “fake rocks” to them.

      amazing indeed! gotta disagree, heavily disagree even, on the latter statement. it leaves me with such a heavy feeling as an asian person who relates more to the lifestyle of the main "parasite" family, and i'm glad that a lot of discussions came after this film came out. very much deserved to win all its awards, especially in the face of those in the crowd who are definitely part of the more "elite" rich class. as mentioned by the previous commenter, there's so much more behind it all ofc than just painting the rich family out to be the bad guys!

      Darkmask This movie has an interesting message about classism, a very important social issue in many places around the world. Hollywood productions do not take this social issue in count currently. They only show a fictional reality of US society, where all people are living in fancy places without economic issues.

      Very underrated. That 15-20 end is absolutely outstanding. It’s so fucking tense. Never have I seen anything that gives you the emotional rollercoaster that end did. Plus Adam sander puts in the best performance I seen him give. You can tell it was wrote for him.

    • @SnobbyRobbie

      @@SPG-lv7wk Yeah, it's just such a vibrant movie, whether it's the cinematography, editing or the color palette. After multiple viewings the second act can drag a little tho, I am still not sure if the The Weeknd cameo was really necessary :D but the crazy ending definitely makes up for it.
