"The first time I ever really listened to Kyle Kulinski’s show was in the back of a cab last summer. The driver had his phone hooked up through the stereo and was pumping out an episode through the car speakers - loudly, as if looking to convert a captive audience.
    “Do you like Kyle Kulinski?”
The driver, Ahmed, was a recent immigrant and apparently a die-hard fan of Secular Talk, the political talk show that Kulinski broadcasts on TH-cam. I told him, yes, in fact. I do like Kulinski, had come across his show several years ago, and, all things considered, he seemed pretty good.
“He understands what we’re up against,” Ahmed said. “Like Bernie.”
But I was surprised to hear Kulinski’s name mentioned in the same breath as Bernie Sanders, particularly with such adoration. Because what I did remember about Kulinski’s show struck me as mostly capital-P “progressive” takes on the news - the left wing of the Netroots crowd more than the democratic socialism Sanders has popularized.
It’s an impression that wasn’t entirely incorrect.
“I have no time for philosophical, airy bullshit,” Kulinski tells me from his home in Westchester, New York. “I don’t want to hear about Lenin. I don’t want to hear about Marx. I just want a super plainspoken, straightforward agenda with a straightforward way of selling it.”
With over 800,000 subscribers and nearly 670 million total views on TH-cam, selling a progressive agenda is clearly something Kulinski knows how to do - even Democracy Now, the long-standing flagship of progressive media, cannot match his reach on the platform. Chapo Trap House can certainly boast a wildly devoted fan base (and a not insignificant degree of media influence), but their audience is roughly half the size of Kulinski’s.
While Secular Talk might be more likely to be looped in with the progressive networks around Air America and Pacifica alums like Sam Seder than the more resolutely socialist world, Kulinski’s fiery rhetoric, razor-sharp class instincts, and knack for withering takedowns sets him apart from his peers. Judging by his rhetoric alone, he’s closer to a Eugene Debs than a Chris Hayes.
But unlike Hayes, Amy Goodman, or his friend Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks - who began airing Secular Talk on his web network seven years ago - the thirty-two-year-old Kulinski is virtually invisible in the mainstream media. Despite his enormous fan base, his show has never once been mentioned in the obligatory trend pieces on “the Millennial Left” pumped out by the prestige media. Nor has Kulinski’s name ever popped up at all in the New York Times, Vox, the New Yorker, New York Magazine, or the Washington Post, despite his leading role in cofounding Justice Democrats, the organization widely credited with sweeping Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the rest of “the Squad” to power.
Just last week, his Wikipedia page was deleted. The reason? “There is very simply no [reliable source] coverage of this person,” according to one moderator. In new media, he’s king - the Sean Hannity of the Berniecrat left. In old media, he’s nobody.
I suspect there are a few reasons for that. There is nothing “cool” about Kulinski’s show. (As a friend put it, “‘Welcome to Secular Talk’ sounds like something you’d hear on Egyptian radio.”) His no-nonsense social-democratic politics won’t get him much cred with the Full Communism crowd. He records his show not in Brooklyn or Los Angeles, but in a studio he built himself in his modest Westchester home. His hair is too groomed and his taste in clothes too preppy to qualify as “Dirtbag Left.” Nor has he ever attended an n+1 release party. “Not only have I not attended one,” he says, “I have no idea what that means.”
And yet he’s astonishingly plugged-in for a young man in the suburbs. Wondering how Sanders ended up on the Joe Rogan Experience? Kulinski, a frequent guest on Rogan’s wildly popular show, introduced them. “You make the most sense to me,” Rogan told Kulinski on a recent episode. “You’re a normal person.”
Much like Sanders himself, Kulinski’s show has a massive audience that just doesn’t compute with our media’s understanding of “what the kids want” or even “what the left-wing kids want.”
It’s probably for the best - the very woke and very WASP-ish decorum haunting much of the media world is nowhere to be found in Secular Talk. “Corporate Democrats over-focus on identity as a trick to divert you from the issues that unite us all - class issues,” he said on a recent episode.

Piers got obliterated by Bassem Youssef. You need to watch that one and do a video on it.
People keep making this argument that the only reason Israel is doing all this is because of Hamas, but Bassem slaps that down and leaves Piers speechless after mentioning Palestinians die in the West Bank all the time, but yet Hamas does not control that area.
He also makes a brilliant point in regards to the "exchange rate" of human life since Piers keeps asking people "What is the proportionate response to Oct 7th." With everyone hyper fixated on the way people died and not how many people died, I think this is the perfect point to hammer Israel supporters on.
The entire interview was a bit dark, and I cried for the lack of humanity that Piers was showing Bassem. It was literally heartbreaking, but I felt he had made all the right points.

In 2021, the ICC launched a probe to investigate Israel War Crimes (which the US has been blocking). In 2022, Amnesty International denounced Israel as an apartheid state, and later that year, a UN report on human rights in occupied Palestinean territories said apartheid was not sufficient, and that Israel's actions represented "the hallmark of settler-colonialism and a war crime." With thousands of people arrested every year without due process - including hundreds of minors (as young as 12).
All of that predates the terrorist attack - so, would Mr. Morgan condemn those? Of course not. He is not speaking from a position of morality. He is a cheerleader for his side - simple as that.

The Arabs refused to take in refugees from wars they started and lost.
If they did that all of those people would have been out of Israel living as good as lives as you can hope for in a Muslim country.
Instead their children and grandchildren are locked in a permanent refugee status until Palestine becomes a state inside vital Israeli territory.
The world sees Israel fight them in self defense and condemns them. Whilst failing to notice the reason why they’re in that situation in the first place. To be pawns in the Arab’s never ending attempt to destroy the Jewish State.

In a way, this perfectly demonstrates how the conflict between Israel and Palestinians(among others) is talked about: Widespread condemnation of atrocities committed by non-Israelis, and a lot of tap dancing when it comes to atrocities committed by Israel’s govt.

    • @isuriadireja91
      @isuriadireja91 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

The only "tap dancing" with that was only due to the ATROCITIES israel have been committing ON the Palestinians since before and after the existence of osrael as a state.
What and how do U think happened when israel announced the beginning of their state in 48..?
They massacred the Palestinians, including women and children, much like what they're doing NOW.
And they DID rape women back then.
One war crime and human rights violation after the next and the West keep IGNORING it.
Now, hopefully.. Eventually, everyone'll see the other side and the REAL stories that've been buried or covered up or distorted all this time.

If he agrees with your point of view you'll get all the room to talk, but if he doesn't he'll do anything in his power to derail the conversation, interrupt you at every opportunity, engage in straw men logic or simply ridicule you. He is unable to have an honest discussion. It's more important to him to pretend he's winning the debate than to actually listen what his guests are trying to say.

Some Israeli special forces kicking down the door and saving hostages might work the first time, but once that becomes known, Hamas will start executing the hostages every time they hear the wind blow. Drone attacks also have a high civilian death rate, so it´s not that different from bombing. Also, the minute some important people are killed, the hostages will start being executed. He was trying to get to these points, i believe. Does the delivery method of the bomb really matter? What is the acceptable ratio, terrorist to civilian deaths in a bombing (collateral damage math), if any in war?

it might be somewhat idealistic to say only 1:0 is okay, but 1:9 is pretty insane. If the collatoral outweighs the target massively, there's something really wrong.@@peterhorton9063

@@peterhorton9063 the thing though is that Israel has the most advanced military and intelligence resources at their disposal. They can put together strategic, surgical operations that specifically target Hamas members without having to do collective punishment, but they’re intentionally choosing not to go that route. And the mainstream is acting like that is not even an option like the only way for Israel to defend itself is to indiscriminately bomb Gaza. 🤦‍♂️

@@parkermudsen1063 Surgical, what does surgical mean in a bomb, that is marketing talk to make you feel good. I don't think you know what surgical means. So thousands of children have died from IDF bombs and you still think they are surgical. IDF has bombed and shelled UN camps multiple times in this 50 year wars, on accident. Was that medical malpractice then during failed surgical bombing? I don't know how medical jargon is injected into talk about a bomb....

It's fascinating the different reality people live in. I watched this live and thought Piers Morgan was measured and respectful. While the other guy looked and acted like an animal.

An "animal"..? Wow... I never knew any animal that can speak, let alone argue...
Just out of curiosity... Just what specifically do you see that gentleman did or say that earned him to be called an " animal"...?
Takes one to know one, usually that's the case... But in this one, i think the only animal here is U.
Ya racist f**k. Now f**k off.

You must have watched another debate. He didn’t answer any of his questions. How was that measured? He asked him to condemn the killings of civilians in Gaza and any rational human being will have no problem in answering that.
