    For u-turns, drift mode and hand brake! Tightest turning radius you've ever experienced.

    Honestly I do not even think about the turning radius anymore. I have driven my 17 for more than 4.5 years. What does bother me is how quickly the rear glass and hatch area gets dirty and dusty. I could clean the rear of the vehicle every day and I only drive in the city. But really, I love this car. I have surprised more that one Mustang at a stop light.

    • @bapsd5135
      @bapsd5135  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can say the same about the rear hatch as well. I’ve never owned a car where that part gets so dirty so quickly. I take my RS to a car wash not even 10 minutes away from my house, and by time I get home the back hatch is as filthy as before I got it washed 😂

    The RS is not your typical everyday driver it is a performance car, It's meant to be that way for handling purposes it's not made to make u-turns in the middle of the street this car is meant to do the twisties and on a track it's not made to turn around and go back it's made to go forward, if you're too stressed out don't drive it , it really isn't that big of a deal dude. MAYBE YOU SHOULD STICK TO A TOYOTA COROLLA THEY GET A BETTER TURNING RADIUS

    I own 2017 Focus RS. Ford limited the turning radius more than the base Focus due to the wider tires, otherwise they would contact suspension/fender. Most AWD cars have similar turning radius to include STI. The worst turning radius is Evo8. I hated doing u turns when I owned the car.

    • @bapsd5135
      @bapsd5135  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m curious about the turning radius in the Evo 8 now... might have to drive one to find out myself!

  • @ThomMurphy
    @ThomMurphy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    The 4S is the better tire than the Super Sport in almost every way, save maaaaybe steering feedback at the very limit of grip. Neither is as good on a dry track as the Cup2. You should probably consider looking at better sources for tire information.
    The RS's turning radius isn't that bad, especially compared to similar vehicles. If you look at the actual data you' should see what I mean. You're probably just used to variable steering ratio vehicles, like mini vans, that apply more angle (and often reduced input effort) to the wheels at lower speeds, and less at higher speeds. The RS's steering ratio is fixed, which is great for performance driving, but not great for cruising parking lots/garages.
    It will take more effort to turn the wheel, and more turning of the steering wheel, to make a tight, low speed, turn than you're use to if you've never driven a vehicle with fixed ratio steering before. You should try turning the steering wheel more than you think is nessasry, initaly. Eventually you will retrain your brain, and be more comfortable and confident.
    Look at the turning radius of other vehicles, paying attention to whether they drive the front wheels and their length. Then the size of their wheel and tire. Consider the level of performance they're expected to deliver as well. You should see that the RS's is pretty much in line with others, and that it would be hard to fairly say it has a bad turning radius.
    For example, the shorter Golf R's turning radius is 17.9' (17' 10.8") and the longer Civic Type R's is 19.75' (19' 9") and the RS's sits between them in length and turning radius at 18.7' (18' 8.4")

      @@gbass7328 Excellent and if you are in the USA it would be 1 of 498 NB and I think there were 494 RR.

    I used to carry a little speed into u-turns in my ST, rip the e-brake halfway through then accelerate out of the slide on the other end. 🤣🤣. I just put the RS in drift mode and goose it
    Just kidding. I swing wide in intersections in the RS. I only slid the ST once or twice. It worked pretty good though lol.

      Hahaha. Yeah I make sure to give myself a little more room whenever I have to make a u-turn. If I noticed the u-turn is a little tight I won’t attempt it at all lol

    Thanks man. Big bummer, was looking to buy this one, now I might go get myself a Volkswagen hatchback. I can't imagine how stressed one might get on tight spots with this car.

      It’s something you can find ways to overcome and deal with over time, but it is still a little stressing and frustrating navigating through certain areas. You just have to be conscious of where you’re going and plan ahead so you don’t get caught in an embarrassing situation lol

      I own both. Get the RS it is better. The new Golf R should be good and I will probably get one to replace my current VW.
