My 1st time trying it, I had one that didn't have the embryo and it tasted like a regular egg. My 2nd time it was really good and tasted like I was eating chicken.

You should try eating balut whole all at once with vinegar/salt after sipping the juice. It tastes much better. Eating it piece by piece is not how we usually do it. Filipino here btw 😊

Me too it's my favorite snack and actually for some locals here in my country the philippines they consider it as an appitizer or approdisiac. It's actually very tasteful, more savory and a winner if you put in salt and spicy vinegar on it. And you can actually choose 16 days, my favorite is the 18 days and not so much or less than the 21 days old balut. Sometimes i'm craving it together with the vinegar.
You must try Filipino Delicacies Kakanin like: Puto Kutisnta Bibingka Suman Maja Blanca Putobungbong Sapin-sapin Cassava Cake Pichi-Pichi They all delicious!! I hope one day you introduce these foods in NYC.
