By FAR this whole series in China has been your best work. Informative, entertaining and reminds me that governments often argue and fight. But people are still people wanting the same basic things in life. Thank you for bringing this to us.
A couple related but tangent thoughts- 1- I like to describe one of the joys of travel as 'learning how we all do the same things differently'. 2 - It's interesting how different the world can be when you go out and experience it for yourself, compared to the world you're told is out there.

It is so damn awesome seeing everyone's face light up when they hear you speak. You're just making their day, and they become so warm and nice to you. I'm sure it's a massive sign of respect when they see an American who took the time to learn their language. Probably the only time they have and will ever see that in their little market again. every time this kind of videos makes me realise how little i know of the world, and how little i know of China. The people there seem to be spectacular, a real pleasure to interact with.
In 1997 i beacme good friends wity a classmate who was from Durango mexico. He didn't know English and I didn't know Spanish but we taught each other and in 2001 i went on a trip with him and his family to visit his family in Durango. The people there never even asked me where i was from. Cause my accent and vocabulary were very good. It only took me 2 years to be completely fluent, with accent and even jokes. I speak English, Dinē (navajo language), Spanish, and some of the Apache language that my older relatives taught me when i was little. 4 languages but im still learning
