    IKEA CEO: I think we need to discontinue our red floral duvet.
    IKEA Emplyee: Why,? It's our best seller?
    IKEA CEO: *closing 52 CosTuber windows* It's a little old fashioned.
    Love this! I can't wait for the rest!! Stay well.

    I'm a big fan of using methods other than math to get pleats right :) Geometry rocks.
    ...and I totally understand having projects follow you home, I went in to Fabricland for purple dye to celebrate the completion of my first handsewn shirt and a hundred and sixty bucks later... but I now have silk and cotton and velvet! ...ask how much of that I've used so far... you'll get broken eye-contact and a shrug...

    This is exactly the style of skirt I want to make for myself for everyday wear - having wrap around ties means no need for a zip or other fastenings. (A mid calf version thought but with no ruffles.) I've had in my mind to make for quite a while now, it's just a case of getting the material.

    I love this petticoat! It's so pretty! What exactly is the purpose of dagging and what do recommend for a good brand of pinking shears?

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! I think dagging is mostly decorative, though the pinking is actually functional to prevent fraying. As far as shears go, I really do like my ginghers, since they do a great job at the actual cutting, but if you're doing this much cutting, they are quite rough on your hands. These are the ones I have: www.amazon.com/dp/B000MWXPKI/?tag=aiponsite-20&linkCode=ic5&ascsubtag=amzn1.infl.us.product&creativeASIN=B000MWXPKI&ref=exp_ladyrebeccafashions_dp_vv_d

    After the front box pleat, I did fork pleats. I found eyeballing too frustrating.

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have to admit that I've never tried fork pleats. But what happens if the area you need to pleat is not exactly divisible by the size of the fork? Then you'd still need to adjust the pleats anyway, right?

    another lovely video rebecca! What pattern/reference did you use for the stays you were wearing? They look pretty exactly like what I want, and I've been humming and haaaing about which style to make. I think we're also pretty similar in proportion, and you look absolutely lovely in them, which gives me a little bit of a boost to want to try

    I am not that great with stitch terminology but I believe that is called a “3 step zig zag”. I used it a lot when I would sew elastic into cloth diapers and that is what the diaper sewing groups called it!

    Love that you used bedding. My shower curtain would already be a dress if it were big enough. Will the edges of the ruffle fray when you wash your petticoat? I had never heard the term dag, so I learned something new. I have a curvey blade for my rotary cutter....I wonder how that would work vs the pinking shears...
    Anyway loved the project!

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't think you could use the rotary blade for dagging because of all the little tight corners, but it would certainly work if you just wanted to give it scalloped edges. Pinking does a great job at preventing fraying - the pinking itself will become less defined, but you can throw it in the washer/dryer, and it still won't fray!
