    Maisy: I'm the most perfectly innocent kitten cat, Mommy, and I'm being framed! Besides...how can a cat resist such shiny and dangly things?!

    This musical is so amazing & I'm excited to see what you create! I've worked this touring show (costume crew) and a former student is in one of the casts!
    When dealing with the white, stretch fabric, find a way to stabilize the seam for closures. I doubt iron on interfacing will work, but always test! You got skipped stitches on the skirt because the non-stretch zipper had nothing to really hold on to. Stabilizing your closure seam (iron-on, sew-in, whatever) will force the stretch fabric to behave. Adding a non-stretch fabric lining is not enough. Especially on the fake stays, you'll get puckering (zipper or eyelets) if that back one inch or so on each side isn't stabilized.
    I know this tip wasn't asked for, but I started theatrical costuming in the ballet world. I know stretch fabric! Can't wait to see your finished product!

    I love that you chose this cosplay! It truly is a great show/cosplay for all body types because the casting isn't stuck to one "look" for everyone. I've been eyeing making me a Katherine Howard because I love the pink, lol

    I am thinking to reinforce the skirt seems so they stand out even on the hanger. I am just a craft sewer (mainly doll clothes) but that's what I would do. I always admire how custom you make everything so it fits beautifully. I'm so excited to see the finished garment!

    I would use gun metal double cap rivets. Tandy Leather has them in different sizes and has the tool to hand set them. You can buy a pressing tool to set rivets as well but I feel like that might be more money than you would want to spend for one time use. You can also buy them in different post lengths. A lot of bag makers use them as support for straps etc.

    OMG the rainbow holographic fabric... so pretty!
    Found myself nodding when you said your machine skipped every stitch on the zipper... my machines do that sometimes, well except for the antique, I don't think it knows how to skip stitches.... but it's so frustrating when the machine doesn't machine. Sometimes it's just easier to do the dang thing by hand. Also love the zipper choice, I don't think anyone will see anything, and you don't want a tiny invisible zipper trying to not get stuff caught in, for sure. My Kenmore With Problems is the worst for thick stuff, it skips stitches AND snaps the thread. Its idea of "thick" is anything more than two layers...
    Can't wait to see the whole thing together!

    I had never heard of this musical, but now I’m dying to see it. When you mentioned this project in your future sewing projects video, I had no idea what you were taking about, lol. I watch all your videos, though, so knew I’d find out. I’m not disappointed! This show sounds awesome, and your cosplay is shaping up the same way ❤

    I know this is too late but you can use a KAMsnap press. They have Pyramid Rivets that look like studs. It comes in gunmetal, silver, and antique brass sizes 8 and 10mm.

    Six is one of my fav musicals and I am sad I missed on seeing it in Seattle. Joann might have the fabric you needed but because of staffing or hours or other stuff, it might be in a box in the back room and they cant get to it due to lack of hours and other problems.

    Jane is in my "in progress bin" right now too. Currently stalling at the studs myself lol.

  • @Wombletron
    @Wombletron 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I think a snap press with appropriate sized ..bits.. is the best way to set all those studs. The large lever handle lets you use your whole arm and/or body weight rather than trying to do 300 by hand with press pliers. You can also get different bits to use them for eyelets etc. I can’t remember if I’ve already seen you using a press. Edited for clarity.

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Is that the same kind of press that would set grommets? I don't own one, since they always seem so expensive.

    • @Wombletron
      @Wombletron 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! Grommets! I couldn’t find the word. I know what you mean about the cost, I think it would be worth it to save my hands from so much overuse based on the number of studs. But you can do them slowly over time to save your hands too.

    My first thought, for setting prong-style studs, is turning the prongs manually with jewellery pliers. My second thought is putting the studded garment face down on something with a 'mould' for the stud to fit into, and smacking the prongs down with a hammer. (Can you tell I've never studded anything?)

    Do you have any recommendations for a very simple bodice pattern for a dress? I’ve already sewn a skirt, but I’ve tried two bodice patterns and I always end up giving up because it turns out too big, too small or it’s just too complicated.

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The sleeveless bodice from simplicity 8252 is a nice one, or simplicity 8396 for a princess seamed bodice.

    When working with stretch fabric - be sure to use a ball point (Stretch/jersey/knit) needle if you are not. Do not use a universal - it's not universal at all. That reduced/elimiated the number of stitches skipping for me when working with stretch fabrics.

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, unfortunately I didn't have any ballpoint needles.

    Adjust an observation but I believe you are a true redhead because everything has driven my skin crazy my entire life. And my mom is the same way and my grandfather before her. So you are dead on that anything sequined is going to scratch and if you were me make you break out. Happy times. The cosplay is awesome!

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As in, it's the same type of press with different die sets? Yeah, but they're over $200, so I'm setting them by hand.

    There are several type of stockings that are 1 background color and a net ontop allready built in so only need 2. Once I acculy had a small fishnet styled one that was sheer black. But that was like 20 years ago and was a witch for a halloween party in them. With a deep V clvage and a fake tattoo witch on my booband a verry short skirt😂 remeber that outfit becouse i had as much attention from bots as from girls and all was to afraid to acculy touch me in ways me didn't allow first and that was a new experience acculy. Sad enoth
