How tall is then presenter? Curious how tight the back seats are. Is the size of this car in comparison to the Accord?
See when you reached here? 5:23 they need to make that a design feature to lift the badge. It's intuitive and natural location. I'm sure you wasn't the only one or the last to do this either.

That is what Acura was about. Building sporty cars with elagant looks and powerful engines... and RELIABLE.

@Hassan 2k Whiteside LOL Acura never does V8'S. The power will hopefully be closer to 400hp to compete with the M340i and C43, and if it's a really big hit then maybeeeee we might get something like a TLX Type R with over 500hp and a better twin turbo V6.
When you add turbo to a engine. You lose reliability

This is the most interesting looking interior Acura has ever made I think. Car looks very handsome - if people would buy sedans this would be a home run.

I would say the same but I dont think this is in my budget. I still love my TL Type S tho.
@@dr.monkeysr8160 The base TLX starts at around $35k. That's not too bad. Of course, it'll get pricier once you start adding options.

@@normt5463 but the q50 fails in everything else. Literally a similar dash layout since the g37 with a super outdated infotainment. There is more to a vehicle than just the engine size especially since this tlx will be comparable if not better than the q in performance. And this is coming from a q owner.
People talking about the Japanese renaissance when the GT-R came out, but I truly think the Japanese renaissance is happening right in front of our eyes!
type S, 400Z, the supra, new STi, new brz/86, new toyota hot hatch. Definitely liking what the Japanese are doing.

It doesn’t share platform with Accord. Acura has been building cars on its own platform lately. The RDX that came out 2 years ago also didn’t share platform with CRV.

It looks great, interested in seeing what kinda performance the TYPE-S is putting out. My guess is close to 400HP and a price point around 55k.

I totally agree on the shifter.
They went through the trouble of making their own platform but stuck with a FWD bias and a transversely-mounted engine? It’s absolutely massive, too. They really could’ve done better.
It directly states in the video that the SH AWD can send up to 70% of the power to rear. Its rear bias, not front.

It's a very meh shifter regardless. We didn't particularly care for it when we test drove the MDX Advanced. But great of Acura to do away with the dual screens.
MJ Zoom Due touchscreens aren’t a bad thing when done correctly. Look at Infiniti, Range Rover and Audi.
Perez Sykes Have you used the Infiniti system? It’s bad....bad bad bad. The Range Rover system freezes up a lot as well.
Its just a shame that they stuck with the transverse layout despite having a all new dedicated Acura exclusive platform. But credit is due where it's due, such as sticking to the almost concept like exterior, bermbos, mechanical diffs, v6TT, etc.
No TT and no DCT, what part of that is great...It's getting same trans as the Honda Accord and single "twin scroll" (BS term) is selling short. The concept idea died on board of directors meeting. They're after masses, not enthusiasts. They're catering to soccer moms and dads in crocks.
Yeah, even the new m3 and m4 won't have DCT and will STILL use one twin-scroll turbo.
Ya, considering that they specifically wanted RWD proportions. Would have been nice to turn the engine longitudinal.

Defenitely share RDx interior (which was a great success) except for panaromic sunroof which i hope the rivals will have at some point of time

This was an excellent review. I can’t wait to buy one in 2023 when they come off lease at half price. Just bought a 2017 that way for just a little over half of the original $37k window sticker.

Never mentioned that it's based on the current accord chassis. Just like the previous gen, it's a fancy accord with available awd. Nothing wrong, I have a 2020 accord sport 2.0T that I love, I'm just surprised it's not being mentioned.
This guy is what Acura represents: style and performance. He did a great job reviewing these cars. Acura needs to get him to review more vehicles, would watch them all.

I love what Acura is doing with the tlx but the c pillar could be smoother like the previous generation’s and the second row is lacking the wood trim that the front has

How do others feel about the touch pad? I test drove the RDX and was a little taken back that the display isn't touch screen

I'm a Honda and Acura Fanboy and really excited about this car. Seeing the base TLX makes me feel really good about my Honda Accord Sport 2.0T. I'm very happy, satisfied, and actually impressed by my Accord. For the price and deal i got on it, it drives and feels way more expensive. The new base TLX gets basically same engine i have and transmission. Good choice! Im very stoked about seeing the Type S and specs. I owned a 2003 Acura CL Type S 6-speed manual. Loved it! Only gripe I have currently is the front Acura plate on the front grill. I don't like the look. I wish it was more integrated like they did with the Acura RDX.
it's a shame there are no Acura dealers here in Japan, even their home country.
Would love to upgrade from my 05 TL A-Spec. But I’ve been so disappointed by the TL/TLX over the years I’ll take a wait and see on this one.

He didn't touch upon the interior ambient lighting, which I'm excited for. There's a setting called 'Kanjo loop' which sounds like a nod to the Kanjozoku civic street racers in Osaka Japan - the genesis of the JDM term. How cool is that?!
Lol I noticed the same thing and clearly a catering to really die hard Honda enthusiasts, I assume not many car people know about that. I'm glad somebody else noticed that!!

I love the touchpad and the electronic gear shift buttons.
It definitely looks much better, but I felt the rear looks a bit like the ilx. Would be interesting to see the specs and price on the type s.
I'm totally into this car, but I'm more excited about what the next Mazda 6 may be like

The TL was a great car. I owned 2 of them.
They finished testing 4 banger turbos now we getting a v6 turbo should be making somewhat 300+ hp all wheels drive I’m ALL IN

Front bias but 70 diff to the rear is indeed good. But can I lock the power split? Also it should come standard on the type S.

@Trevon Adams The S60 Polestar is a great looking car, so is this though. The S60 PE is a 2.0 Turbo/Supercahrged/EV AWD sedan. It's a plug in hybrid 2.0 turbo with 415hp and nearly 500lbft, pretty neat car.
Trevon Adams prolly thinking of the wrong Volvo. The v6 TLX type s only going to make about 350hp while the awd Volvo is making 415hp.
I hope it would driven the rear wheels with the TypeS.... I could only hope

Has anyone ever used this type of gear selector? If so how was it compared to the generic gear shift? Want to get opinions because idk if this will be a deal breaker.

Maybe I missed it but looks like I have to wait until 2021 to get the V6 variant (Type-S)? I didn't see a base/standard level V6 option with Tech Package like my 2009 TL. I have always been concerned with a 4 cylinder but looks like the turbo has kicked in a lot more power in this new offering.
Type S has a turbo 3.0 V6, the rest get the turbo 4 from the RDX which makes 272 hp/ 280 tq
plus a 2009 TL only makes 280 hp and like 250 lb-ft of torque
I’m not a fan of the duel cockpit. I feel like it should be more focused towards the driver and the screen seems kinda of far and the gear selector. Hmm. But otherwise beautiful

I was looking to purchase a new car around Labor Day but the Type S may make me wait. Stuck between BMW M340i, Genesis G70 and Acura TLX Type S

The m340i has a single twin scroll turbo
The g70 like the stinger gt is twin turbo
And the upcoming tlx type s has a single twin scroll turbo as well
... The m3 bmw should have a twin turbo. Just some stuff to think about. Perhaps think about the Kia stinger gt as well because it has a perfect 50/50 weight distribution for balance, awd as an option, adaptive cruise control and it's just really nice. I mean it's beautiful.
