Steve what a fantastic recap. It was a whirlwind of a trip and I’m already missing hanging out with you fine gentlemen for this historic Sleep Token show. Thanks for your time, your generosity and being a great tour guide too, Daddy Steve
I was supposed to go home for Christmas to my family the day of the gig so I didn’t originally buy a ticket, but my mum unexpectedly died 2 weeks before the show of cancer. My wife bought me a resale ticket short notice and I went on my own and it was the most healing thing I could have ever done. Vessels pain in a time of adversity was my pain, and the fans singing to support him was a mirror off all those who have supported me in my time of need.
Oh my... that's heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time. What a wonderful gift from your wife. That's phenomenal. Actually making me a bit emotional tbh. I'm so pleased that you were able to have that moment through this band and their music at that historic concert. One thing at a time. Keep going. Thank you for sharing this 🤍
This music has the most soul piercing effect and helped me heal and overcome an extremely stressful moment in my life as well. We love you. Your pain is meant to awaken and strengthen our bonds. Feel it. Are you in pain like I am? We are one.
I'm so sorry for your loss. My husband died unexpectedly 10yrs ago & I'm still struggling with it. But as soon as I found Sleep Token's music, I could feel it reaching a part of my soul that I never thought would be touched again. Their music is just so beautifully haunting.
In a world where the media is filled with those few people who choose to take offence at anything they perceive as negative, it is heart-warming to hear that several thousand people, when placed in just such a position, decided to take the positive approach and do whatever they could to make the best of the situation!
100%. I think helped enormously by the fact that Vessel stood on stage in humility for the announcement. He wanted to face the reality, not shy away from it. Incredibly brave move. He’s a real one.
Imagine that moment as an artist: One of the biggest moments of your life, and you can't perform. But instead, you hear the voices of all the people that you have touched with your work. And you realize that they all sing it so much better than you ever could, but also, because of what you made.
Being there and seeing Vessel walk back on stage like a shy child was so sweet and then for three songs the crowd just killing it so hard especially with the love you want as well just singing all of our hearts out. Never took away from the gig and the experience was intense for all the best reasons
Fabulous gig, even if it was very different to what we all anticipated. I think that it showed the Sleep Token fanbase is really family - we felt it deeply for Vessel and we sang it out like we always do.
Exactly! A friend of mine told me about the Wembley show, and I wasn't at all surprised. Of course, that didn't stop me from tearing up a little bit when I watched footage of the show. Sleep Token has managed to seamlessly blend multiple genres in a way that speaks to a broad group of people. While I joked with the friend who introduced me to them that he was in a cult, it took me about 2 songs to find myself also in that cult. The music they create is genius. It provides the ear with a multitude of frequencies to explore, and that's before the incredible lyrics can even be heard and interpreted. They speak to casual listeners, people with music theory backgrounds, vocalists, poets, sound engineering nerds. They are exactly what music has needed for decades, a fresh new expression that surprises the ear and pulls the heart into itself. When I say worship, I mean I see the spirit of the bard in this group. And I am in awe.
I would have been honored to be in that crowd backing him up. He’s done so much for his fans ❤️ Also, Blood Sport wasn’t originally on the setlist. They decided to add that at the last minute. Mans a legend
honestly, what a fucking trooper, most singers would have just walked away for a mere cold it seems like, but vessel still managed to keep the show going without letting anyone down. mad respect for these guys
Was my first Sleep Token show and honestly it was a beautiful unique experience I will cherish forever. I feel like im part of history in the making in some small way! Also waited 3 and a half hours for the pop up shop merch so I did my part I think 😂 WORSHIP!
A fair few of us seem to have come back from the gigs in Germany with bad throats and colds. Maybe Vessel picked the same thing up. I noticed he took a drink straight after Chokehold on Saturday which I hadn’t seen him do so soon before and fleetingly thought that was different. It was still phenomenal and although my heart breaks for his bad luck after waiting so long for this date, I’m glad I was there to be part of what you called the uniqueness of that event Steve.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I've seen clips and heard stories from my POV, all y'all that were at Wembley singing to Vessel were amazing. I feel like it made the experience special in a different way. We’ve heard it was filmed and are hoping for a DVD. I'll be first in line to order it. Thank you Wembley attendees, for showing the boys how much they mean to all of us. 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Watching this recap really gave me a sense of what it felt like to be at this concert. I was fascinated from beginning to end. I think you described it well when you said it was a celebration of their music. It’s probably the best way to look at it. Thanks Steve for reminding us that we are all humans with vulnerabilities.
This is probably going to be a gig that the band and fans will remember with warmth for years to come. Such a unique situation with problems that were overcome by the overwhelming care from the fans. These are the moments that make the metal community feel like home.
I think in todays age, people respect when a vocalist can't perform, it happens, theres much more understanding that these guys are on a high right now and it takes it's toll.
I was there and it definitely was a show to remember and I'll remember it for the rest of my life. It was incredibly emotional to see how the fans got behind Vessel and the band. I sang my little heart out that evening and felt whole once the show was over. I didn't feel like we missed out on anything for the period that Vessel couldn't sing. He came back strong - we carried him through.
Thanks for the recap! You summed up the emotions of the evening perfectly. I flew in specially and had an amazing time. What a rollercoaster, though. The disappointment when they announced that Vessel's voice had gone, then the whole crowd singing along, and then Vessel coming back again from Atlantic onwards. It was something else.
I really wondered if vessel would speak at the end, it felt like such a monumental moment and it must have been hard for them not to speak. He whispered thank you 🥹
I am speechless. What a beautiful, refreshing thing to watch! Thank so much for sharing your experience and for doing it in such a sensitive manner.☺️ I didn't know your channel, I am not even the biggest youtube consumer; but apparently being a Sleep Token fan it's a gift that keeps on giving! I found your video reacting to their TMNTE album and now this...? What a wonderful human being to watch sharing about their passions! Thank you so much for being around!❤
Ah don’t, I’m so sad we’re not just meeting up again today dude. Too much fun. I will however definitely be in Dublin in 2024 at some stage. I’ll keep ye in the loop of details when that happens 🫶🏻
A wonderful summary Steve, I’ve been torn since their performance, so gutted for Vessel and the band but blown away by his resilience and the band/crew’s professionalism in managing such a tricky situation. I’ve now come to terms with the view that we all witnessed the full positive emotional support from the fans, a unique situation to hear us all sing - it was my first time seeing Sleep Token (I’m an obsessive fan since first stumbling on Jaws during lockdown), accompanied by my 13 year old daughter who has fallen completely in love with them too and so proud to see her mesmerised by the whole performance and seeing her word perfect accompaniment to TMBTE ❤. We can’t wait to see what 2024 brings…. We love your work, especially that Euclid response (!) all the best for you and your family over Xmas and new year 🎉
Thank you so much for this comment and for the well wishes ❤️ That's so cool that you got to take your daughter along and that she was singing along. My daughters are 4 and 2 so it'll be a while yet but I can't wait to take them to gigs one day 🤘🏻
I’m 28, and my 60 year old dad and I go to metal shows together (even a few of the multiple day festivals!). They’re my favorite, most special memories. I can promise you your daughter will cherish these memories forever. Keep being awesome
Thanks for sharing your experience. Glad you had already seen them to help ease your pain. Sounds like a unique experience, and if its anything like the Bristol show I saw earlier in the year the bigger crowd all joined in unison must have been a sight to behold. Thanks, and keep up the great work.
Yeah man, especially during big chant moments like in the “take me back to Eden, take me back” build up to the end screams in that song. And of course end of The Summoning was a biggie for crowd singalong. Very cool.
Tremendous bravery on Vessels part to take that risk. I have to wonder if things might have been different had they removed Vore from the set list. I wasn't there but from the video I saw it looked like he really went hard on the screams in Vore.
Yeah Vore was intense for sure. Also he went really big on some screams late in the set like he was venting the frustration. Bit of a risk, but the emotions were so strong.
It was an amazing night and super special for all Sleep Token fans. We will definitely have to catch up at a future show for either Sleep Token or someone else. Thanks for the little mention too ❤️
100% my dude! Of course I mainly go to gigs in London, but I will be at Download Festival in 2024 which I understand you went to last year. If you go again let me know and we'll grab a beer 🍻
The fact that this concert was so unique is something you and everyone else in attendance will remember probably for the rest of your lives. Not what you expected, but certainly a memory to be cherished.
It’s amazing how the fans were willing to save the show and make it an amazing experience! Great recap! I’m a new subscriber of your channel after this! Your honesty is refreshing.
Thank you so much for your thoughts and for your recap of this amazing event. Saw them in Detroit this past September and was anxiously following the Wembley show for hours through insta and discord, wow, what a ride. Bless them all! So proud of them and thankful for their music! May they rest up and be back strong in the coming year, we look forward to continuing to enjoy their music for years to come! 🙏🏻❤
We was there too. Had an awesome time!! Was a great experience. Feel sorry for them, but as you said, I think everyone had a good time and enjoyed themselves. It was a really good experience. Can't wait to see them again sometime in the future!
I saw the drumeo video and it's snowballed since, i am absolutely a fan for life, i can't put into words how much their music means to me now. WORSHIP.
I was there pretty close to the front in the standing section. Absolutely obsessed with this band. Even just seeing and chatting to other fans was incredible. Just so grateful to get to see them live and despite Vessel losing his voice it was still beautiful. Massive post gig come down today 😢
Enjoyed hearing your experience of the evening. A special event for many reasons. So glad they carried on for the audience and also for themselves. Excited to see what the future holds for them. Can't wait.
I only started listening to Sleep Token since TMBTE came out but I've listened so much since then that I ended up in the top 1% of listeners on my Spotify wrapped. 😂 I'm actually listening to the older songs more now. There's not a song I don't like. ANYWAY....I watched the Wembley concert online and I know it's not the same but what's really different about this group is that the fans really care about Vessel as a human being. No one got mad or left because they wanted to be there to love and support him...and the rest of the band too, of coarse. That's what sucked me in as well. Vessel may not speak, but his non-verbal language to his fans is loud and clear....and the fact that he's been through hell in his life is obvious in his lyrics and the emotion in his singing. I am sure Vessel felt all the love and support. It was beautiful to see even online. I can't imagine what it must have been like to be there.
i wish i could see it. hearing what happened kinda made me feel proud to sleep token fans. and i know vessel or anybody didn't want that to happened. great video as always, steve. euclid live, we'll get it someday.
sounds like a performance that has already gone down in history. I'm glad for all those who were able to take part and attend. Sleep Token is a solid group. Like blowing a tire, sometimes crap happens and they made the best of it. God bless them.
Sleep Token pulling a Periphery move. There was a time Spencer couldn’t perform, so they went on an instrumental tour. That was wild. This approach works very well with this kind of music. I love me some Sleep Token.
It was an experience that will be very tough to beat for me - having to sing just made it all the more special. A once in a lifetime show I will never forget
Such an emotional night, I felt vessels pain but was so proud belting out the lyrics with the crowd. To blow up so quick would have been a shock to vessels voice but imo he blew it out the water
I come back to this video once a couple of weeks, you made the best recap of the show! Being in front of IV and seeing him sobbing, body shaking and everything, at the end of Bloodsport, will be forever imprinted in my brain. The most sacred moments in time
Takes a massive amount of courage to go out and ask the crowd to sing the last 75% of a shoe because you simply can't. Honestly it sounds amazing and heartwarming.
It was an amazing night regardless, it was my first time seeing Sleep Token and in some weird way it was everything I expected and some. It will for sure hold a lot of memories to me and no doubt to many others, one of the few moments in my life I wish I could relive. Blue torches for Atlantic was also a fantastic idea. I would love to hear Vessels thoughts on that night, because you could definitely tell he felt the love from the crowd, because he was absolutely BELTING it out for The Offering!
My daughter's first time seeing them, she's 14 and she absolutely loved it, even though he lost his voice. We were at the back and everything a song started we were screaming, the set list was banging the light show was insane and the atmosphere was amazing. We had a few people leave when vessel lost his voice. I agree as well, I wanted Euclid so bad, bits my favourite song on the album
So glad that the response from the audience was as supportive as it was. Bummer that you guys didn't get the full gig. I saw them in CA in October, and it was so awesome. They headlined, but the set was short. I WISH it was 2 hours of performance because I had been waiting since 2018 to see them perform, and never thought I'd get the chance. Thankfully, they blew up! I am interested to see where they go with the masks & expression, though I feel like the cloth masks and more stiff choir is a culty vibe that totally matches the band. But hey, things evolve and I understand the desire to get some personal expression through masks and now that they can afford them, why not?
Instant like and sub! Awesome video. It must have felt like an emotional rollercoaster this Sleep Token gig and they definitely got a very warm and dedicated fanbase. Worship! 🙏🏻
@@SteveOGRock kinda weird I felt both sad and happy for Vessel and the band. They've been at it this year harder than ever and know how truly important all these people, their following to them having his voice issue, happens to everyone but at sucha pivotal gig. Not everyone in metal can sell out Wembley Arena in 10min so there was huge anticipation and pressure for the band to deliver and maybe the stress of it got to Vessel's voice. I've been following Sleep Token for quite a while now and they always seemed to be giving a top notch performance and production so I totally understand how they must have felt on sucha big night with everything happening as it happened as I'm in a band as well..cheers
Thanks for sharing! I wasn’t there but even experienced from TH-cam, all around memorable show. Glad to hear you and the fellow fellas had a good time with each other!
Can only imagine the energy there that nite. Getting hyped as a fan just listening to all this. Sleep Token is 1st on my list to see live. They have definitely been THAT BAND for me to get me through my late 30s. 🤘
Thank you for sharing your expierence and expressing your thoughts about the event I am a diehard Sleep Token fan who unfortunately haven't had the pleasure of seeing the band live though I still hope to someday . It was heartbreaking to me to learn that Vessel lost his voice /was sick on what was suppose to be such a triumphant night for the band but I am thrilled about how the crowd and fans offered their love and support I commend those that showed grace and loyalty and love And I commend Vessel for doing the best he could with the cards fate gave him that night I know we are only just starting to get glimmers of the incredible potential that Sleep Token has and what they will be able to pull off in the future Worship
Thank you for sharing this!!! So wish I could have been there!! But soon! I must say I love so many bands so many styles of music but I have to say what Sleep Token has found with music the pure passion and emotion that’s in their playing has bright me a huge new hope for future music they are so unique so beautiful and original! Thank you again!
While you were there the entire SP discord was watching ready to fight to death for Vess. It’s okay to not be that strong all the time. We will protect this man with the power of a thousand suns.
I'm super happy for sleep token. This may they are coming to red rocks amphitheatre here in the states and that's when I know a band or artist has made it to the big leagues.
They hooked me with Alkaline. VESSEL hooked me with Alkaline. Im a Christian so i was reluctant to hit the thumbnail on the song for a couple of weeks but lets face it, TH-cam algorithm knows me by now. So i started down the pqth of what they had done and what they are doing. Vessels emotions was so strong in these masterpieces so of course i went down the rabbit hole of who he was. Im not disappointed. Honestly i can tell ya i love the guy. Hope i can meet him one day. I need to give the man a hug. If nothing else. Love from Kentucky yall❤
Loved your recap! I was lucky enough to get a spot at barricade and the love was there. Both coming from the band and from the fans around me. A unique experience we will never forget!
The gig was incredible despite the loss of Vessel’s voice. The crowd carrying him through those few tracks almost made it more special. The encore didn’t go the way I expected. Gutted I didn’t bump in to you either! But next time! 🤘🏻🖤
First video I’ve seen by you after seing your name pop up everywhere on the metal-reaction feed, and it did not disappoint. You are really good at telling stories to wake up the imagination. Really exciting times to be a Sleep Token fan! I was also there and travelled from Norway so it was a special show indeed! Happy to have found your channel🎉
Thanks for taking the leap and clicking on one of my videos! So pleased to hear you enjoyed this. I lived in Stavanger when I was a child actually. Much love for Norway 🇳🇴🤘🏻
A. A. Williams was an absolutely PERFECT opener for ST when they were here in the States! She set the tone for the show, so it was a very cohesive vibe!
I wasnt at the show but from the clips i saw it seemed like one of the most beautiful concerts ever. Vessels voice being lost was so sad but it was beautiful that the crowd was able to make him feel like he accomplished something because he did.❤
I've been in the congregation of Sleep Token fans for about 5 years too. There isn't a song I don't like either. Sooooo connected to Vessel and that emotion man. Love from Kentucky yall ❤️🖤🖤🖤❤️
Incredible recap my friend! Was really looking forward to this and to see Drew and Birb’s vlogs from the whole trip. Entire experience seems truly special especially all being about the greatest damn band in the world right now. Absolutely amazing how everything’s gone down even the misfortune of Vessel’s voice being unwell. Even in that moment of adversity sparked something unique and something that’s simply a spectacle. Thanks for this recap homie and so happy for you! Cheers 🍻
Thanks! Yeah it ended up being so amazing just on a very different level to expectation. As reminder that nothing is predictable, challenges will crop up at unwelcome times: it's all about how we respond 💙
I wasn't at this gig. But I'm so happy vessel carried it on to the best of his ability. And the fact they played take me back to eden is incredible. I hope to see them soon, I've only just recently got into them as a friend told me about them knowing I'd love them shortly after take me back came out. AND AS FOR EUCLID! What I believe is that's their swan song to a degree. It's my favourite song they've done, unsurprisingly because it's the finale of their three album story. The way it transforms. I've listened to it none stop this last week because even though I heard it a few months ago, I was sat on a train going home last week and it came on, and it hit me. It's the ultimate finale. Without going on about how much I love this song, they won't play it until the finale of their tour. Maybe it will become a staple after but who knows.
Wow, the fact they stayed and continued, even if Vessel couldn't sing to his full ability, thats awesome and respectful for the entire group. ❤ I regret I didn't get to be there.
Dude i havent even dove into checking out this band yet but this video has made me a fan of Sleep Token now and will be diving in immediately. Well done.
Oh wow! I did not expect for someone not already into Sleep Token to find their way to this video. That’s so cool to hear man. Enjoy the rabbit hole! What kind of music / bands do you currently listen to? I’ll see if I can think of a good gateway song for you…
Traditionally I'm a Tool, Slipknot, Deftones, Killswitch type guy. You mentioned Drew and I remember watching all his Tool reactions and loving the way he did it. Think thats what got his channel really moving. These days though I find the older I get the heavier I'm liking my music. Bleed from Within, Motionless, Gojira, Currents. You get the idea lol.
@@rchris77nd oooh, ok nice one. Based on those bands (I also like ALL of them), I reckon start with “The Summoning” and “Vore” both off their latest album. Then dip into “The Offering” from 2 albums ago. If you dig those then I reckon listen to their albums in order from there: Sundowning -> This Place Will Become Your Tomb -> Take Me Back To Eden. They aren’t always heavy, they tend to go heavy when a particular song or moment requires it. Their latest album is, genuinely, the most incredible album I’ve heard in the past 5 years at least. Incredible song writing, musicianship, lyricism, and innovating. Good luck my friend.
I found Sleep Token in maybe 2021 i think. Jaws was my first stumbling upon and it blew me away. Followed them lightly and then This Place Will Become Your Tomb came out and i became a perma-fan. Take Me Back To Edens first listen through was an amaIng experience to me. Being at this show and singing along would have been epic. And a Euclid closer? Man the whole audience would be half crying the whole time! Someday i hope to see a sleep token show!
Honestly, I wouldn't expect anything less than an emotional experience unlike anything else from Sleep Token at this scale. This will make the fans love them more. They will come back from this and only grow.
I flew from Portugal for the show. I was in the table behind u in the pub😂. I loved the show, and loved to listen all of us singing for vessel, made everything more emotional and human. And yes, would have loved for them to play Euclid, but I am so happy they played Blood Sport as it is one of my fav songs. I think vessel really took the energy from the public and came back. also, the queue for the merch I was there for a whole hour lol 0 regrets
I was able to see them in September when they came through the States, and can clearly remember the hype and conjecture surrounding the Wembley show as it approached. Were they going to play *this*, were they going to do *that*? Then the time came, and I heard about what happened. My heart broke for the band, and all the people who went. But, then as I watched clips and videos that were starting to emerge, and listened to the folks that were able to be there... it started to sound like this wonderful and unique experience. Where, instead of the band headlining this ritual, it turned into their fans giving them their own contribution. This show culminated into their fans being to give back an offering of reverence and respect. What a beautiful moment in time.
Vessels vocal performance and range in the majority of tokens tracks. Especially “take me back to Eden”. Where he gives some of his best angelic lows and highs before giving an absolutely demonic throaty scream at the end Is very definitely taxing even for one blessed by sleep. Singing that track multiple times over the course of tour especially with practice effort put in before shows. And the fact that he can actually hit those notes live. I don’t blame him for having trouble singing that day. He is like the Freddy mercury of our generation. Absolutely INCREDIBLE vocalist. His singing hits me like a truck everytime I listen to their tracks and I often can’t help but sing along Very powerful very emotional extremely passionate A true artist at heart and in soul.
We all know he can wail, such a powerful incredible voice. And we are all susceptible to human fragility, his instrument being his voice, cannot be replaced and is THE most fragile… has happened to the best of powerhouses in every genre like Freddy Mercury, Jay Buchanan, Chris Cornell, Myles Kennedy, Axel Rose basically no Legend of a singer has not had HORRIBLE vocal shows. Vessel has every right to be distraught over it, but I hope he knows his fans know what he’s capable of and know that show was actually a blessing in being crowd dependent and it was beautiful and the closest thing to a powerful spiritual experience that I’ve had. It hit me like a bullet train the emotions of singing with the crowd and knowing what vessel was suffering yet he endured and persevered. I’ve the utmost respect and reverence for him for that show.
I've only recently started listening to Sleep Token and I'm hoping to go to their Manchester gig in November. Being able to vocally carry a vocalist is an amazing experience and something I've been a part of in the past (ironically, in Manchester - not the same venue though). My other half is a massive fan of The Alarm and has been for years. During this particular gig we went to, Mike Peters (their lead vocalist/founder) was really ill and unable to sing, so as we all knew the words, we helped him along and sang to him. That show didn't involve a show-stop, though.
Just watched this first interview of a member that I know of. Recorded before the concert cause 2 had the previous mask on. Talked about his drumming and influences.
It's such a shame he wasn't able to sing the all set but not surprising. They had a pretty big year. Right at the start of January, touring with Architects in Germany, then some headline dates in England. A couple months after, the season of Festivals came in, then they quickly went to North America as headline again for weeks. Little pause and 5 dates in Germany with the biggest set they ever did, and this night of Saturday 16th December. They need some well deserved rest now. Just hope Vessel hasn't something more important than a sickness due to cold weather and singing with not enough rest. That's something that came to my mind and worries me. About the set, I did imagine one for the headlining dates of TMBTE, in 2 parts. Starting with Chokehold and ending with Take Me Back To Eden, then restart with The Night Does Not Belong To Gods and end with Euclid. Or at least a set that would mark the all concept of the trilogy. TPWBYT being my favorite Sleep Token album, I deeply wish to hear some day High Water live, my favorite Sleep Token track.
Yeah, very busy year indeed, but I’d suspect it’s less about over-use and more some sort of viral infection which just needs a bit of treatment and rest. Fingers crossed he’ll be grand in no time again.
I was there!!! I flew from D.C., went to the pop up shop too at The Black Heart, nice to see where they had the debut. Personally, it was an amazing experience, Vessel still pushed through and sang beautifully towards the rest of the set despite what happened. But it was awesome singing and screaming the lyrics all together in front of him though for the couple songs he couldnt sing much😅. The band still sounded great, ugh specially ii on the drums. I am so happy we got Blood Sport. I thought I'd never get to see that one live. I cried so many happy tears during that concert.
This was my first Sleep Token concert and it was such a magical experience. Even though we didn’t get to experience Vessel at 100%, the fact that they didn’t cancel and carried on even though they must have been feeling terrible has honestly made me love them even more and I’m so glad that I got to be a part of it. I also wasn’t much of a fan of Health tbh, I really liked some parts of their set but I think their vibe is just ever so slightly too different from Sleep Token for a lot of people there to really get into. Not sure how it was in standing but I was in seated and I was actually pretty disappointed in the crowd during Health’s set - a lot of people were just having conversations and talking over each other and not even trying to get into the music. Like I said I think their vibe was a bit too different but I still stayed respectful of their performance and listened. Must have sucked for the people that really like Health to have had so many people being pretty rude during their set.
Getting the right support act for Sleep Token is so tricky. Like no one really sounds quite like them. It was an interesting choice at least. Not sure I’d have experienced Health live otherwise as not quite my cup of tea but always good to check out other musical flavours from time to time.
I really enjoyed Health, even though I’d only heard them for the first time in Germany with Sleep Token a week or so before. I guess I was standing about 10 rows from the front at Wembley and people around me seemed to be in to it as I remember. I don’t know how to describe it but the wall of noise was so intense at times I thought my heart would burst out of my chest! The lead singer Johnny was walking up and down the merch queue in the afternoon so I got to tell him I enjoyed their music and asked him how they got that sound. He told me they use a lot of electronics 😀. He seemed a really nice guy and also man’s his own merch stand which is pretty cool.
I've rewatched your Sleep Token reactions time and time again because I really like everything you thought about their stuff - almost like listening to the albums with a friend! this one, too, is super interesting, and your love and appreciation for the band really shines through. thanks for this!! ❤ also, now that almost a full hour of II drumming content is out on Drumeo - will you be taking a look at any (all?) of it? I loved your insight on his previous offerings and I'd love to hear what you think of the new content!
Thanks! I’ve just posted a video where I watch and respond to points he makes during the interview segments. Not included any drumming footage reactions though as I didn’t have time for that today. Perhaps in future if I can wait and not just go ahead and watch it by myself in quick bursts 😅
Thank you for being so positive ive never seen a band set the world on fire as fast as Sleep Token im loving all of the new stuff. It was epic to experience through media. Id have oved to see them live. ❤❤ glad it went the way it did. This concert will be legendary for future reference 💙🎶✌️🖤💙🖤💙❓️🎸💗💥🔥
Saw them back in September in Dallas, and yeah the line just to get in the venue was nuts. Took almost 2 hours to get in the doors. And while the opening band was playing, I got in the merch line and it took about an hour and a half before i was able to get to the table. Actually missed Chokehold and Vore. The whole place was so fucking packed. But it was still an incredible show. Whenever I saw the first video posted about Vessel not being able to sing here, I hurt for him.. imagine finally getting the recognition for the music you've put your heart and soul into and selling out (I believe I read it was about 10-15 minutes) in a place this big, and NOT being able to perform. Still love that he was able to pull off his usual Vessel dance moves though
I got that heart dropping stomach churning feeling when Sam came on and said Vessel couldnt sing. That was immediately followed by a swell of supoortive and positive emotion from everyone around me in the crowd and it turned out to still be the greatest gig I've ever been to. Mayyyybe a bit less emotional than their previous gigs I've been to as I'm listening to someone screaming the lyrics next to me rather than Vessels beautiful tone but what a show, what a performance, what an effort from Vessels to sing what he did. So stoked to see what's next for the boys.
Thank you for your stories about ST/Wembley ritual. You have brought so much to my experiences with the new album. Authenticity is what I want in reactions. You deliver mightily! 🎭🍁❤️🔥
Steve what a fantastic recap. It was a whirlwind of a trip and I’m already missing hanging out with you fine gentlemen for this historic Sleep Token show. Thanks for your time, your generosity and being a great tour guide too, Daddy Steve
It was a truly magnificent couple of days my friend 🫶🏻
Some people did leave but considering the large numbers the amount that left was minimal 💖💖🤟🤟
I know i sang my heart out for him and felt the emotion in the arena
Where I was standing not a single person booed or got upset. It was a magical, beautiful experience
@@198clm a couple of people in the seating left but that's it 🤷🏻♀️ but the rest of us were screaming the lyrics 🤣
Imagine that moment as an artist: One of the biggest moments of your life, and you can't perform. But instead, you hear the voices of all the people that you have touched with your work. And you realize that they all sing it so much better than you ever could, but also, because of what you made.
at that moment, he quite literally became a vessel for the fans voice.
Being there and seeing Vessel walk back on stage like a shy child was so sweet and then for three songs the crowd just killing it so hard especially with the love you want as well just singing all of our hearts out. Never took away from the gig and the experience was intense for all the best reasons
Such dedication from Vessel and the band… I LOVE that no one left and everyone stayed and was part of it. So moving
Fabulous gig, even if it was very different to what we all anticipated. I think that it showed the Sleep Token fanbase is really family - we felt it deeply for Vessel and we sang it out like we always do.
Absolutely. It was a very immediately uniting experience. Really quite amazing.
Oh, btw, there's a new video you need to react to@@SteveOGRock- "An Offering From Drumeo | Sleep Token II" 😉🤘
The vocal blowout just confirms Oli Sykes doubles as Vessel.
@@toyotaecw No shot 😂😂
Ugh. This makes me love it even more. It really was a “thank you” to the fans.
honestly, what a fucking trooper, most singers would have just walked away for a mere cold it seems like, but vessel still managed to keep the show going without letting anyone down. mad respect for these guys
Was my first Sleep Token show and honestly it was a beautiful unique experience I will cherish forever. I feel like im part of history in the making in some small way!
Also waited 3 and a half hours for the pop up shop merch so I did my part I think 😂 WORSHIP!
3 and a half hours!?!! Good lord, Vic! That’s dedication. I tip my cap to you 🎩
Definitely a historic gig.
You ARE part of Sleep Token history. Everyone there made that moment and show what it was, and im sure it means as much to them as it does to you!.
Ahh, yeah he’s not normally one for drinking loads in the set. Good spot.
Entirely unique show indeed. Thanks for watching!
I got sick after the show in Hamburg. Really bad bug going around.
That's heartbreaking for Vessel. But it's so cool that everyone stepped up and helped make the night special.
No question!
I think in todays age, people respect when a vocalist can't perform, it happens, theres much more understanding that these guys are on a high right now and it takes it's toll.
If I'm not mistaken similar thing has happened to Periphery's live in London before pandemic where Spencer couldn't sing due to illness.
Rollercoaster is a perfect word for it! Tugged in all emotional directions.
You didnt hear Vessel say 'Thankyou... Thank you...' just before Bloodsport? That was incredible. Edit: it was more of a raspy whisper 'thank you...'.
I really wondered if vessel would speak at the end, it felt like such a monumental moment and it must have been hard for them not to speak. He whispered thank you 🥹
I am speechless. What a beautiful, refreshing thing to watch! Thank so much for sharing your experience and for doing it in such a sensitive manner.☺️
I didn't know your channel, I am not even the biggest youtube consumer; but apparently being a Sleep Token fan it's a gift that keeps on giving! I found your video reacting to their TMNTE album and now this...?
What a wonderful human being to watch sharing about their passions!
Thank you so much for being around!❤
This tells me they play everything and Vessel doesn't lip sync. HOW AMAZING for a modern band. I'm shook
One would hope that a rock band doesn’t lip synch…
Mr. Steve withdrawals starting to kick in 😢
Ah don’t, I’m so sad we’re not just meeting up again today dude.
Honoured to have you here, thank you! 💙
Babe wake up Steve Droped new sleep token video
😂 this comment brought me enormous joy
@@SteveOGRock glad i could help with that :D
Thank you so much for your thoughts and for your recap of this amazing event. Saw them in Detroit this past September and was anxiously following the Wembley show for hours through insta and discord, wow, what a ride. Bless them all! So proud of them and thankful for their music! May they rest up and be back strong in the coming year, we look forward to continuing to enjoy their music for years to come! 🙏🏻❤
Glad you enjoyed it! ❤️
that detroit show was insane
We was there too. Had an awesome time!! Was a great experience. Feel sorry for them, but as you said, I think everyone had a good time and enjoyed themselves. It was a really good experience. Can't wait to see them again sometime in the future!
I saw the drumeo video and it's snowballed since, i am absolutely a fan for life, i can't put into words how much their music means to me now. WORSHIP.
Welcome my friend! Never too late.
I was there pretty close to the front in the standing section. Absolutely obsessed with this band. Even just seeing and chatting to other fans was incredible. Just so grateful to get to see them live and despite Vessel losing his voice it was still beautiful. Massive post gig come down today 😢
post-gig comedown was real 🫂
What a beautiful story. I feel bad for Vessel but this shows how supportive and loving the Sleep Token fans are!
Enjoyed hearing your experience of the evening. A special event for many reasons. So glad they carried on for the audience and also for themselves. Excited to see what the future holds for them. Can't wait.
This is one of the gigs that people will remember forever. Its not what people expected. But, in a few years, people will say ''I was there''.
100%
I managed to get 0.1% somehow haha. I didn’t even think I had listened that much
I was top 2%. You two have smashed me on that 👏🏻
i wish i could see it. hearing what happened kinda made me feel proud to sleep token fans. and i know vessel or anybody didn't want that to happened. great video as always, steve. euclid live, we'll get it someday.
Thanks! Yes, still praying for live Euclid one day 🙏🏻
sounds like a performance that has already gone down in history.
The most sacred moments in time
That warms the heart to hear. Thank you for letting me know 🩵
I love how you captured what it felt like to be there; a roller-coaster of emotions, just like their music and I'll never forget it 🖤
Takes a massive amount of courage to go out and ask the crowd to sing the last 75% of a shoe because you simply can't.
Honestly it sounds amazing and heartwarming.
Im so happy for you.
I would love to be on Wembley. I was in Berlin last week and it was definitely gig of my life. They're just like nobody else.
They are exceptional indeed
It was an amazing night regardless, it was my first time seeing Sleep Token and in some weird way it was everything I expected and some. It will for sure hold a lot of memories to me and no doubt to many others, one of the few moments in my life I wish I could relive. Blue torches for Atlantic was also a fantastic idea. I would love to hear Vessels thoughts on that night, because you could definitely tell he felt the love from the crowd, because he was absolutely BELTING it out for The Offering!
And you know you're all going to have a reunion. And that bond that you gained. Is going to be magickal when it comes. Lucky you bro
Amazing video. I wasn't there and I was looking for more information about the show. You did great! Thanks. Loved your channel!
Glad you enjoyed it!
And yes, you're excellent at our job. I'm hooked on this channel. Gratitude.
You’re very kind, thank you
FANTASTIC review new sub for sure! Thanks so much for the retelling, really can’t stress enough how well done this recap is
Thanks so much for saying so 💙 It was a special experience, that gig.
After so many shows...and they just started to play so much...so sorry to hear that it happened at this specific show, but we love them SO MUCH
My daughter's first time seeing them, she's 14 and she absolutely loved it, even though he lost his voice. We were at the back and everything a song started we were screaming, the set list was banging the light show was insane and the atmosphere was amazing. We had a few people leave when vessel lost his voice. I agree as well, I wanted Euclid so bad, bits my favourite song on the album
He should go through Melissa Cross about that, she can help him possibly with losing his voice.
Yeah I reckon the masks will grow on us over time.
Instant like and sub! Awesome video. It must have felt like an emotional rollercoaster this Sleep Token gig and they definitely got a very warm and dedicated fanbase. Worship! 🙏🏻
Emotional rollercoaster is exactly right!
Thanks, and welcome! 💙
Cheers Dan! Yeah a good time was had by all 🫶🏻
Can only imagine the energy there that nite. Getting hyped as a fan just listening to all this. Sleep Token is 1st on my list to see live. They have definitely been THAT BAND for me to get me through my late 30s. 🤘
I so want to hear Euclid live as well. Thanks for sharing the experience
Thank you for sharing your expierence and expressing your thoughts about the event
I am a diehard Sleep Token fan who unfortunately haven't had the pleasure of seeing the band live though I still hope to someday .
It was heartbreaking to me to learn that Vessel lost his voice /was sick on what was suppose to be such a triumphant night for the band but I am thrilled about how the crowd and fans offered their love and support
I commend those that showed grace and loyalty and love
And I commend Vessel for doing the best he could with the cards fate gave him that night
I know we are only just starting to get glimmers of the incredible potential that Sleep Token has and what they will be able to pull off in the future
Worship
Thank you for sharing this!!! So wish I could have been there!! But soon! I must say I love so many bands so many styles of music but I have to say what Sleep Token has found with music the pure passion and emotion that’s in their playing has bright me a huge new hope for future music they are so unique so beautiful and original! Thank you again!
So glad to hear you enjoyed it! Thank you 💙
While you were there the entire SP discord was watching ready to fight to death for Vess.
Great video, unique makes the experience memorable & never forgotten….so box ticked (courageous by the band 👏👏)
Loved your recap! I was lucky enough to get a spot at barricade and the love was there. Both coming from the band and from the fans around me. A unique experience we will never forget!
Well done 👏🏻 Must have been amazing up close.
The gig was incredible despite the loss of Vessel’s voice. The crowd carrying him through those few tracks almost made it more special. The encore didn’t go the way I expected.
Gutted I didn’t bump in to you either! But next time! 🤘🏻🖤
Yeah, definitely quite special given the situation.
Fingers crossed indeed to see ya at a gig in future dude! 🤘🏻
Great review. Thanks for posting 👍
What a coincidence that is🤩 Keep doing the good work🤘
A. A. Williams was an absolutely PERFECT opener for ST when they were here in the States! She set the tone for the show, so it was a very cohesive vibe!
Didnt think i could love them more. Thats so awesome.
People didn’t come to be entertained but to be a part of something.
Wow, the fact they stayed and continued, even if Vessel couldn't sing to his full ability, thats awesome and respectful for the entire group. ❤ I regret I didn't get to be there.
It really was a beautiful emotional experience, and to be a part of it is something I will treasure forever.
The gig was f*cking amazing regardless. He powered through and started singing again a little while afterwards.
This was a really touching story, seemed like a poweful experince ❤❤ I'm gonna see them in december on O2 in London and I can't wait!!!
I’ll be there again too! Can’t wait!
🇵🇹🤘🏻
1 hour! Well earned merch ✅ Well done! Glad to hear it was worth the travel!
I got goosebumps reading this comment. It really did turn into something utterly special in a totally different way.
In many ways the adversity made me love the band, as people, even more. If you judge gigs by that shared sense of being, this was second to none 😊
In EVERY WAY this made me love them more
Vessels vocal performance and range in the majority of tokens tracks.
Yes! Just post my reaction and thoughts on that on my channel actually. So cool!
Wow, that must have been so amazing
Great video!!
My mate is also hoping for High Water at some stage.
also, now that almost a full hour of II drumming content is out on Drumeo - will you be taking a look at any (all?) of it?
I wander if you heard vessels voice through the sound booth speaker
Interesting thought that. I doubt it though, I suspect it was a crew member... possibly side-stage sound engineer.
@@SteveOGRock if it was a deeper voice with a British twang maybe it was vessel…. But never know.
Thank you so much for saying so! I feel honoured to be able to share my experience of their phenomenal music with others this way. It's a joy. 💙
