I'm an old dude (70) and I really love to see younger people discover why the older people think we had the best music.
I couldn't agree with you more. Our generation had real music, and now the new generation are fortunate to see and appreciate thanks to internet.
I am in my late 60's and my grandchildren LOVE dire straits, pink Floyd, Eric clapton, shirley bassey, frank Sinatra, etc. Etc.
Thank goodness the music 🎶 will always live on!

Yes his vocals are a gift from God. True story about Sir Tom. When he recorded the theme song of the James Bond film "Thunderball", he passed out after singing the final note. That's how much he puts into singing. My first Tom Jones song I liked was "She's A Lady" in 1971.
Tom possesses a fantastic voice and delivery. I read in a music magazine years ago that Tom broke 2 studio microphones with his voice, that’s how powerful it is. Enjoyed your reaction here, you fell under his spell for certain!

So I'm 10 yrs old watching my mom and her friends swooning over Tom, just like Jayy. Gave me the giggles.
Well, at least they're not throwing their panties at him like women used to do whenever he performed live. So it could be worse.
He is now over 80 years of age. The voice is still powerful and beautiful.
He never had a voice lesson, either. Pure natural talent.
He had lots of lessons actually if you read his book. His voice teacher wanted him to become an opera singer but he preferred to go the pop route.

My first two crushes for this music loving black girl in the 60’s were Elvis and Tom.
Every time I hear him it reminds me of my early childhood and my mom listening to him.
Its old school music you can sing to, back then singers had talent. Back in the day we had the music, clothes, cars and women were uh uh women.
We didn't realise how lucky we were. Now, males wear their belt around their knees, with their knickers on show and do some shouting into a microphone and call it music.

my mom was a big fan of his in the early 60's, and as a child, I would play his records, and give all my neighbors a concert out my bedroom window.

Tom Jones, a true legend! "It's Not Unusual", the song that Alfonso Ribero dances to on 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air'..."The Carleton Dance". Also, the theme to the James Bond film "Thunderball" (the high note he hits at the end is astounding!). And one last one..."Kiss", a cover of the Prince song. The man was such a natural singer that Elvis was constantly in awe of Tom's voice. He is just naturally gifted and is still going strong as a performer and on UK's version of The Voice.

Tom Jones's song "Till" is a masterpiece in itself. Tom's range and vocal power have never been matched in the more than 55 years of singing. His ability to put the feeling of a song across to an audience is impeccable. No one has or ever will sing like Tom Jones ever again. He truly is the GOATS. God truly blessed him with a golden voice.

There's a lot of shit music around nowadays (as there was back then), but there are thousands of fantastic singers today. No, millions. Some humans can sing, that will never change.
@@loganjukes8820 The point is that technology is so much more advanced and singers rely on it to the point that most can't sing like that anymore. Most of these old performances were live too, not lipped synced to their studio version.

When HBO first came out, they had a weekly Tom Jones Show on their menu. I would go into the city and spend weekends with my cousin. They had HBO and we would watch his weekly show. At this time, I was probably 11; my married cousin was in her 20's so she already KNEW about Tom Jones (from a woman's point of view) and I soon followed in her footsteps into his fan base. One night my mother happened to be there when his show was on and from then on, she wouldn't let me go to my cousin's house to watch his show. I think she thought he was putting ideas into this young girl's head.... and ya know, I think she was right. What a guy! lol Thanks for your reaction, Jayy. I reeeeally enjoyed it. Theres very few male artists in my opinions that I can put near the Elvis category... Tom Jones is that for me... crazy powerful, beautiful and diverse voice... he sang show tunes, raspy rock, pop.... he did it all and I have loved looking through videos of him singing with all kinds of other famous artists. Watch him sing with Wilson Picketts! Its awesome.... I mean really his voice is untouchable by most people.
