from a viewer in the US......thanks for taking the time to show us how you did your upgrade. i can see a lot of thinking went into the project and it paid off. i am reminded of a friend who also is working his way to provide all his own power and he said to me "i have too many panels, said no one ever". i am looking forward to watching the build out of your second system from the older parts.
Thanks Arnold. Yeah I went over how I was going to do it several times in my head before landing on the way I did it. It involved a fair bit of head scratching it has to be said. I will be stripping the old inverters down to give them a deep clean as they are covered in dust before doing the rebuild. Still scratching my head on exactly how I am going to do that one. 👍🏻
@@FarmsVilla I suppose it depends on how much energy you use on the hungriest day. I’m still grid tied and we use a lot of energy (40kWh on average daily) so 3 is OK. Remember you can’t use the full 16kWh per pack. It’s more like 13kWh, so 3 batteries is 40kWh useable.
@ yeah we got used to using a lot less power when we went fully off grid 2 years ago. Mandy actually uses the oven after dark now since this upgrade! 🤣 during summer we could use up to 40kwh per day if we had a lot of sun.
Hello... old inverter no need communication with LFP battery and BMS... you just need LFP battery with good BMS and plug it in... If you need any help in the future, let me know where I can contact you..
I see Wonder Woman and I have something else in common, a fear of heights. Mandy did way better than I would. 🫣 Great job on the solar power upgrade! ❤
I feel accomplished just by watching you-guys 😂 You are an inspiration! Well done both of you! 🙌👏
🤣 Thank you! It was a killer getting those panels onto the roof. Luckily I had Mandy to help otherwise it would not have gotten done.

brilliant well tackled & wired up, Bravo to you both :)
Thanks Kevin. The hardest part of it was dragging those panels up to the roof. Without Mandy I could not have done it! 👍🏻
Need more batteries man 😁. I bet you're already planning it.
edited to add: I said it too soon. Just caught the end of the video.
Lol. Yeah was hoping to add another 2 but one more should do fine and fit in better.

Thanks for your offer. Might take you up on it if I decide to bin the lead acid batteries in favour of a lithium battery on the old inverters. 👍🏻
Do a euro pricing man, you're in europe ;)
And in Rands as well boet!
Ja nee my calculator has not got enough zeros to calculate the Rand cost! 🤣
I will be sure to add Euro pricing into the next solar update video. 😀

Thank you! It was a big job but well worth it. Mandy actually used the oven after dark for the first time I can remember since going off grid! 🤣
@FarmsVilla That's awesome! Great progress. 🎉 Now you just need that fireplace set up! 🙃😁🥂
