As they cry about how they don’t want casuals watching anyway. These people are the kind of edgelords that stop watching a good show the second it gets popular
It's not shocking at all for those of us who have been pointing out they have a lot of issues to work through for at least a year now. If Dave reported on AEW like he did for WCW and TNA maybe he could claim to have pointed this out like the rest of us.
35-49 year mens demo has a lot of lapsed WCW era fans including myself and friends who came back because of AEW. I'm the only one still watching the show - nobody cares about Top Flight, Action Andretti and Daniel Garcia yet we're force fed these barely-above average clowns on TV every week at the expense of people that can actually move the needle. Its maddening
It's a one sided war. Aew has 20 minute matches that nobody outside hardcores care about. WWE has world class storytelling and presentation. Since wrestling is scripted, the entertainment aspect is what sells. Tony refuses to try and get casual fans to watch and care. And instead is losing 32% of his fanbase in 1 week
@@RunandLift2Sorry to brag about it but watching a 3 hour sitcom that includes about 10 minutes of wrestling and 2 hours of last week's replays isn't everyone's cup of tea.

So it's Black Panthers fault. It's the College World Series fault. It's Olympic Trials fault. It's Juneteenth and Kendrick. It's Expedition Unknown. Whatever you need to tell yourself to avoid admitting that fans are REJECTING this product in increasing numbers.
This is what happens when you have no good story lines, or character development. 99% the North American audience doesn’t care about new Japan wrestling or their “stars”
Worth noting that the audience has shrunk, not just the TV audience. The Swerve/Ospreay segment has yet to reach 300,000 views on youtube. There are still foreign markets, but less people saw that on the US broadcast and TH-cam combined then would be typical for US TV alone.
That was a good segment, but damn, less than 300k on TH-cam? That's terrible. And this is coming from someone who has been critical of AEW over the last year and a half.

Dave is booking by proxy through Tony. This is the result. Maybe 5% of the potential wrestling audience has any taste for Dave's ideas and even a large percentage of them prefer the WWE's product. As expected more excuses and no willingness to accept that he's been wrong for 30+ years Anyone associated with AEW is seeing their stock collapse. So WBD is going to let Inside the NBA die and still keep AEW on TV? Why is Dave Zaslav not fired yet? Keep sinking down the hole until it’s CBS buying your company and not the other way around WBD.
He is doing his job for stock holders. That’s his concern, saving money and increasing their dtock price. NBA deal would be a net negative as they would pay too much compared what they would get back in AD dollars. Who says he is paying a high price for AEW? At this rate he can probably give them less per year. Tony Khan has no leverage in this negotiation.
@@traviskemp6222 WBD has been bleeding red ink and has botched every single creative decision outside of AEW as well. The fact you think the NBA is a net negative deal when they are the second most lucrative league in the US behind the NFL shows how little you know about business outside wrestling. Zaslav is clearly desperate and his desperation will only compound more financial losses. Dave lacks leverage here because of *his own actions*.
@@ryanfraley7113 it is a net negative. They wouldn’t make money on the deal. NBA wanted to double the rights fees and the price point would keep it at a loss. They, Zaslav and the board, could not justify paying double the rights fees, losing more money and adding to the massive debt they have. With the decline of cable subscribers and decreasing tv ratings with the NBA, cable companies cannot justify spending more money to get broadcast TNT/TVD to get Warner Bros in the green on the deal. If they knew it would make them money they would have jumped at the deal. They went with a sublicensee with ESPN to air college playoff games that will be a net positive even with splitting the revenue. NCAAF is the second most watched league in America and their playoff games generates massive AD revenue and tv ratings. Idk if AEW is worth spending more money on either with these ratings in the tank but at the right price it can be done. Not saying Zaslav is doing a great job or does not deserve criticism, just stating the fact he isn’t interested in anything but making his board and stock holders happy. I’m looking at it with my head, not my heart. What is cable and cable ratings going to look like by the end of that rights deal? Are they regrouping to get that debt taken care of and then be streaming players when the next tv rights are up for NFL, NBA, MLS, MLB? Time will tell. Hopefully you understand my original post better and I will not assume you know nothing about business as you did to me. Memes always point out the truth.
Weird how booking for the sickos, Dave Meltzer and his message board denizens, doesn't lead to good ratings.
As they cry about how they don’t want casuals watching anyway. These people are the kind of edgelords that stop watching a good show the second it gets popular
I guess a bunch of AEW fans weren't too pleased to be called sickos. 🤷🏽
Better than basement dwelling virgin losers, which is what they actually are

ummm and you know... uhhh you know um..
Or whatever.
It's not shocking at all for those of us who have been pointing out they have a lot of issues to work through for at least a year now. If Dave reported on AEW like he did for WCW and TNA maybe he could claim to have pointed this out like the rest of us.
Dave you are just giving more content to other podcasters
Well, this is his job.
Discovery Channel had a pretty big show on, how can AEW be expected to draw a rating??
The sun was also out. Weather is to blame obviously
Yea so did the food network
Back in the attitude era Shark Week or one of those other animal documentaries legit beat RAW during the "higher power" angle IIRC. 😂
It was Shark Week, I think.
Might as well be claiming people tuned out to watch BBC Question Time election coverage...
“There always a reason”. Funny how he never even entertains the idea that the reason is that AEW is bad TV…
There is no coherent analysis here
Boy what’s gonna happen if NXT starts doing 750k-850k once they move to CW and AEW continues dropping? It’s gonna be WW3 on Twitter/X.
@@muryt12 It's alot more than watching pointless matches. Wrestling is pre determined. Storylines keep people around. Not boring ass matches that mean nothing. Raw + Smackdown draws 4 million a week combined. NXT 724,000. Dynamite had 502,000. And you are actually saying that?
I predict AEW will continue to put on great shows and their fanbase will enjoy them

Dave talking himself off a ledge for 15 minutes.
"WWE does a good job recruiting good looking people.'
Meltzer doesn't seem to realise that "great matches" mean fuck all if nobody watches them.
This is what happens when you have no good story lines, or character development. 99% the North American audience doesn’t care about new Japan wrestling or their “stars”
Showing the Punk footage was really the finger poke of doom after all
Dave forgot to mention there's a new 24 hour gas station that opened in Council Bluffs.
Boy, Cornette breaks down the ratings in such a concise, honest way every week that it's really difficult to get through this video. Dave is so wonky
@@harishsubramanian1241 Oh no but according the cult experts, everything is fine as long as everyone is having fun!

Anyone associated with AEW is seeing their stock collapse. MJF had people hyping him up for so long and now he's shown not to be a draw or a good champion, why would Paul Levesque even want him now other than to rub it in Tonys face?

Although it was an ignorant comment to make, i am not going to question your business background knowledge. I do think it is safe to say that David Zaslav knows more about business than both of us. @@ryanfraley7113showing your ignorance. @@samrizza8785 Imagine being so filled with cope that you made a point that is irrelevant to my case against WBD management. The NFL is way bigger than everything else but that doesn’t excuse Zaslav letting the NBA walk when it’s the biggest property WBD and Turner currently has.

Dave most likely has an input in the shoddy aew booking, the low rating makes him look bad
The name of the show is exactly true and it’s been sizzling out for years now and now it’s boom gone dead - dynamite
Dropping close to 200K in one week is abnormal. It's not an excuse, AEW Dynamite did terribly this week, that's just what it is. If they don't bounce back to the 700-800K range next week I might start to be really worried about the future of AEW as a TV show. This is all while personally really enjoying the last few weeks of Dynamite, I felt most of the storylines are being told properly, so whatever the reason is I doubt it's the booking this time around.
