I dont personally consider it a failure honestly. Just a little side quest in matts career. A pleasant one for me as a fan. Nothing wrong with a short term commitment. It was a win win.
That's all his post WWE career has been. He hasn't landed anywhere solid cos no one wants him.

@ruben-kk2os they definitely had an incredibly lazy, repetitive formula for years of wrestlers facing each other every week leading to PPVs.
In recent times they're better about mixing it up and giving feuds better material. Not perfect, but better.

The problem with Matt is AEW is Tony and the wrestlers all doing whatever they want in different directions. No creative team in place that knows what to do. Lets face facts. AEW's biggest problem is Tony, hiring everything WWE gets rid of and then trying to get over the same garbage that took WWE from millions and millions of viewers to just about 2 million remaining on a good week. Tony wants nostalgia wrestling, why telling you that this is the alternative to that stuff nobody wants to see anymore. Matt was white hot and they didnt use that at all. He came in to wrestle a few matches with no real premise or point. I love AEW does 5 star matches that just focus on the wrestling and leave it to paint and tell the story, but when you are bringing a guy in and trying to build him, he has to have a point
Who authorized this for Cody? Why is the WWE Champion conversating with less than? Look I’m glad Vince is gon but something’s he would never allow I miss. This isn’t good for the WWE brand.
