Marikina River Rehabilitation is on its way. The widening and dredging of the river will help us during the typhoon season. Bamboo tree planting is also part of ythe Rehabilitation. Another kudos to DENR and this Administration. 👊
The Pasig Rehab project started in 1999 under the Ramos- Erap admin and continued to Arroyo, Aquino and now Duterte administration. The Duterte administration did not start this project ,to clarify matters lang.

As individual living in a remote province in here in philippines i already felt the presence of the government because of their concern to us. They stopped all the illegal activities and businesses that destroys natures and the environment. And build new roads from farm to market which is very important to farmers like us also created jobs beacause of the build projects. These only happened during this administration.

Pasig river current rehabilitation was inspired by how Ilongos revived their own dead Iloilo River. Pasig river rehab had had been there since ages as far as the time of Pres. Macapagal but was never succesful. Manila mayors & National leaders only become eager to rehabilitate Pasig once again after seeing the successes, awards; & goodwill reaped by Iloilo City after said city brought back to life it's once dead river.
If Philippines can do it ,I believe so can Indonesia...if we have DU30 they also have Jokowi 2 strong passionate reliable leaders known for their love for their respective people and country 👍👊💪👏

I support most of the SMC projects which will be great for our nation, all except one "The SMC Pasig River Expressway". If this project is allowed to be build it will turn out to be a monstrosity over the beautiful Pasig River. After all these years of cleaning, you now want to destroy it's beauty with thousands of concrete pillars and girders. This project will become Metro Manila's dirty eyesore and make the Pasig River resemble a concrete Jungle! Instead why not make the river a tourist park, an area of entertainment for the people to enjoy. Yes, transportation is needed there. Intead of a massive 6 lane expressway build an LRT line which was proposed Two years ago to run beside the river from Pateros and tie up with LRT Line 1, at Central Terminal station. A light rail train can carry many more people per hour than a 6 lane highway and not be so obtrusive. Also what will happen to the ferry boat service which is now transporting thousands of joyful passengers? Will these boats need to dodge the concrete pillars while swerving from side to side under an obstructive Expressway? Heaven forbid the strong river currents will never force a ferry filled with passengers into one of those concrete pillars.
It's not easy to revive the dead river if you have no empathy for nature instead you add to the problem. Kudos DUTERTE administration for regain the dignity of Pasig River, Manila Bay, Boracay & our waterways. God bless the Philippines! As an Indonesian,i can say that Indonesian people not really like to cooperate with goverment.specially they who came from outside and just work and live there temporary.jakarta,bekasi,depok,tangerang,bogor and side areas are full wih the urban workers.they just throw their garbage to the river,and some companies just dump their waste to the river. But now the goverment strongly go with their force to clean uo the river,and catch and fined whoever dump their waste to the river. Hope things get better soon in Indonesia and Philipines.

A strategy is just words on a piece paper unless is actually acted upon. Having an underground subway system was talked about back in Marcos time but nothing was done about it. The difference with this administration is that it follows through on its words instead of giving false hope.

No improvement in Citarum river until now. I've tried to read news sources in 2020 and 2021, no indication it's improving. I've seen Manila and Jakarta are among the most improving cities in Asia. Mayor Isko and Anies Baswedan are two shining smart leaders that really understand how to make a huge change in a city. Jakarta can learn how to manage a polluted river and Manila can learn how to manage pedestrian lines, parks and integrated public transportation.

E Coli is still high. Pasig river deserves award for its super significant improvement. My work involved fixing environmental problems of companies. You have a low understanding of how this administration is holding everyone's breath esp if they are violators. Nope, it wasn't Gina Lopez. She is just one or her effort. Remember this is a whole nation approach from LGU to DENR to DPWH to NhA etc. Gina Lopez is a mere leader of an organization that when Duterte put her into power as DENR secretary, she was willing to close down alot of businesses, instead of penalizing them, giving them a chance and assisting them in fixing their problems. DENR afterall is not there to just penalized and close you down - No that is not their mandate. They are there to monitor and assist you, as well. Thus, they have technical conference with every violators. You can have alot of "environmentists" but if the government will not tighten their grip and work together with agencies because no one is holding them together, you cannot revive a dead river like Pasig or bay, like Manila Bay. Only this administration I have seen a serious penalties and conference with proponents. Before, you can just simply give DENR employees money and they will just hide your violations.

The Philippines has addressed the garbage of Pasig River but not the garbage in Congress, municipal halls, provincial capitols, Bureau of Customs, Bureau of Immigration, DPWH, PNP, etc.

Its easier to clean a river that is 10times shorter that the other one. Also, informal settlers are the main reason why the Pasig river is polluted so the solution is a little easier. However with Citarum, there are so many things to consider. From economic reason to its length alone is something that can’t be fix in a short amount of time.
If there is no political will. It will not happened. Even if small river or 💯 x bigger, If you will not start cleaning it, same usual. It will not clean. Because of curruption and own interests. 😁😁😁😁

The different is when we measure its length per square area, Pasig river is sorrounded of more population and factory in just a span of 25 km. Citarum runs in 270 km but not as populated as Metro Manila. The different is even in rural area Ciratum is already polluted..

I support most of the SMC projects which will be great for our nation, all except one "The SMC Pasig River Expressway". If this project is allowed to be build it will turn out to be a monstrosity over the beautiful Pasig River. After all these years of cleaning, you now want to destroy it's beauty with thousands of concrete pillars and girders. This project will become Metro Manila's dirty eyesore and make the Pasig River resemble a concrete Jungle! Instead why not make the river a tourist park, an area of entertainment for the people to enjoy. Yes, transportation is needed there. Intead of a massive 6 lane expressway build an LRT line which was proposed Two years ago to run beside the river from Pateros and tie up with LRT Line 1, at Central Terminal station. A light rail train can carry many more people per hour than a 6 lane highway and not be so obtrusive. Also what will happen to the ferry boat service which is now transporting thousands of joyful passengers? Will these boats need to dodge the concrete pillars while swerving from side to side under an obstructive Expressway? Heaven forbid the strong river currents will never force a ferry filled with passengers into one of those concrete pillars.
It's not easy to revive the dead river if you have no empathy for nature instead you add to the problem. Kudos DUTERTE administration for regain the dignity of Pasig River, Manila Bay, Boracay & our waterways. God bless the Philippines! As an Indonesian,i can say that Indonesian people not really like to cooperate with goverment.specially they who came from outside and just work and live there temporary.jakarta,bekasi,depok,tangerang,bogor and side areas are full wih the urban workers.they just throw their garbage to the river,and some companies just dump their waste to the river.
But now the goverment strongly go with their force to clean uo the river,and catch and fined whoever dump their waste to the river.

A strategy is just words on a piece paper unless is actually acted upon. Having an underground subway system was talked about back in Marcos time but nothing was done about it. The difference with this administration is that it follows through on its words instead of giving false hope.

No improvement in Citarum river until now. I've tried to read news sources in 2020 and 2021, no indication it's improving. I've seen Manila and Jakarta are among the most improving cities in Asia. Mayor Isko and Anies Baswedan are two shining smart leaders that really understand how to make a huge change in a city. Jakarta can learn how to manage a polluted river and Manila can learn how to manage pedestrian lines, parks and integrated public transportation.

My work involved fixing environmental problems of companies. You have a low understanding of how this administration is holding everyone's breath esp if they are violators.
Nope, it wasn't Gina Lopez. She is just one or her effort. Remember this is a whole nation approach from LGU to DENR to DPWH to NhA etc.
Gina Lopez is a mere leader of an organization that when Duterte put her into power as DENR secretary, she was willing to close down alot of businesses, instead of penalizing them, giving them a chance and assisting them in fixing their problems. DENR afterall is not there to just penalized and close you down - No that is not their mandate. They are there to monitor and assist you, as well. Thus, they have technical conference with every violators.
You can have alot of "environmentists" but if the government will not tighten their grip and work together with agencies because no one is holding them together, you cannot revive a dead river like Pasig or bay, like Manila Bay.
Only this administration I have seen a serious penalties and conference with proponents. Before, you can just simply give DENR employees money and they will just hide your violations.

Its easier to clean a river that is 10times shorter that the other one. Also, informal settlers are the main reason why the Pasig river is polluted so the solution is a little easier. However with Citarum, there are so many things to consider. From economic reason to its length alone is something that can’t be fix in a short amount of time.

The different is when we measure its length per square area, Pasig river is sorrounded of more population and factory in just a span of 25 km. Citarum runs in 270 km but not as populated as Metro Manila. The different is even in rural area Ciratum is already polluted..
