My favourite way to have scallops is with black pudding and mushy peas only Scottish black pudding the English stuff is bogging. To enhance the flavour of the mushy peas add two teaspoons of mint sauce (Colemans) and around two teaspoons of white vinegar. Serve with small boiled potatoes and salad. The orange bits you discarded @ 15:30 you can eat some people refer to it as the foot others the roe either way it's edible.

Thanks for these videos. What speed were the gusts that were in danger of taking your kayaks? More generally, at what wind speeds do you try to find anchor? And at what speeds would you worry about the anchor failing? As a novice sailor, it's hard to imagine relaxing in these conditions!
Thanks for watching. The violent but short lived gusts, coming off the mountain, were probably well in excess of 40kts. If you seek out a sheltered anchorage with good holding, and if you have good ground tackle and boat attachment points, suitable for your length and weight of vessel, you should be able to sit at anchor in 60kts+. A well designed anchor like our Spade, if well set, will bury itself deeper rather than pop out and bounce, when it’s holding capacity is exceeded - so you have time to react. The problem often comes when the wind direction changes dramatically, again, a well designed anchor that will not come out when resetting is the ideal (we love our Spade). As for relaxing....in high winds, don’t ever become complacent.

For the recipe, simply replace pasta with kelp! But highly recommend the ‘Seaweed Cookbook’ by the Cornish seaweed company for inspiration and delicious recipes! 👌

@@happyafloatsailingpodcast5772 as you saw in the video, it was brought to the boil first (turns it green!) in freshwater (removes some of the saltiness and reduces the iodine content a bit).
