I restarted playin Yu-gi-oh after 15+ years with Dark Magician 3 months ago and his videos really helped but now I'm more and more interested in modern stuff and I've finally settled on playing Traprix. Just got my 3 structure decks and eXceeds on their way. Honestly, its both a good and a bad thing. On one hand, he is proving that you can pick up a deck, play on a budget and also be successful. However, on the other hand it means most of us have to play against traptrix like its a tear 1 or 0 deck
@@sethuchiha22 I preordered the structure because I knew back when the support was announced in OCG it was gonna be decent, and now I gotta deal with 2-3 mirror matches a week. And this is not a fun mirror.
@@frig7014 So many of the people playing it don't have experience with it so if you're a decent pilot it's easy to take advantage of. Most of the main deck is unaffected by holes and a lot of your extra is unaffected by traps in general, which turns off a lot of the interaction in the mirror. The biggest thing for the mirror is to keep them off Sera as much as you can, whether that is by beating over it with your normal summon and doing things in MP2 or by using Pudica to banish it. Because Sera is only unaffected while link summoned, if they bring it back you can pop it afterwards with nightmare. I also run Heavenly Prison in main, which forces them to have another answer otherwise you just start beating them down with it and if they do burn interaction on it then that's a piece that isn't going towards redoer or zeus. In my opinion, this isn't the worse mirror we've had in the past 6 months even and I say that as someone that loved the IshTear mirrors.

(Quick little heads up)- Round 1 game 3 you actually did have lethal for game with what you had already, because you could have ss arachno then still do the normal line of holetea ss then Sera eff trigger of course ss but then xyz into pingu search second copy of dinea since you still would have your normal left summon dinea eff ss from grave summoning pudica banish then link into link 3 traptrix and boom lethal.
Seriously, the round 1 was painful to watch… The guy is reading the cards like 5 times EACH (no, text isn’t changing between games), throwing them when finished reading, trying to urge Pak to play faster at game 3 (just stop reading the damn same cards ??!!) and like the cherry on top of the cake go to Facebook or whatever during the match? That’s way to much, happy he got karma’ed… Anyway thanks Pak for this series, you make me want to play to the game again, truly inspiring :)

Yo I’ve been trying this deck out along with you in the series. Had an OTS championship tournament today at my locals and managed to get top 8 and a booster box of PHHY for prizing. Appreciate the videos it helps a lot!
Dont think it wouldve mattered since i knew where this was heading but at the 1:35:16 mark when you opponent paid 1000 to banish his facedown and the token you took the 1000 from yourself you shouldve had to use your battle phase to out the punisher and since you can swing save it then use effect but the result wouldve been the same given the advantage you looked like you could generate
Game 1 round 3 was lethal, had imperm in grave which made atypus's boost live, so atypus was 2800, allomerus was 3200, pinguicula was 3500 and dionaea was 2700, chixiao was 2800 so total damage was 9400, all he needed to do was walk over chixiao with either one of the xyz monsters
@@jwj6188 i checked before posting, it gets the boost from any normal trap, but that's probably what pak thought as well. It's a mistake that cost him a bit, could've had better prizing maybe, but the world may never know and, tbqh, it's an excusable mistake, he's human after all

At 1:48:57 , can he activate myrmeleo on that new chain ? Branded lost prevents activation of card or effect when a monster is fusion summoned right ? Or is it because it's mandatory ? I'm confused.
Normally you'd be correct, but Branded Lost only locks out the opponent if the fusion summon was the last thing to happen on CL1. Since it happened on CL3, Myrmeleo was free to activate.
What was the interaction @ 2:01:30 ? The Gravedigger had just been reset from grave this same turn? I know the guy ended up conceding knowing he was going to lose, but that wouldn’t have been able to be activated on him trying to activate the bystial right?
Slight miss by pak and his opponent in R3 at @1:36:00 the psychic end punisher paid 1k to banish set moye and nib token. This wasn't calculated into life and thus when psychic end punisher used eff it only gained 500 instead of 1500, this ended up being inconsequential because if he used eff to gain att and attacked over atypus it wouldve still put pak below his LP . In theory, his opp couldve not used eff to gain att (LP would be Opp:5k Pak 6500) and attacked over atypus doing 700 and retaining PEP's unaffected status for paks next turn.
Probably cularia, merrymaker, sargas, zeus, allomerus, and sera or exciton knight. You only want to banish 6 when you really need something specific to build a stronger board

He used Rafflesia in response to the summon of Ad Libitum. Floodgate only flips the monster(s) you are responding to the summon of, and that Ad Libitum is off the field by the time the Rafflesia effect resolves.

What i still don't understand is "how do you drop Evenly turn 1?" There's no battle phase turn 1 or even a main phase 2, you can't drop Evenly at end of battle if there's no battle phase that turn to go into to begin with. That'd be like dropping Evenly on a Runick board once it skips its battle phase entirely. You have to go into the battle phase first to be able to leave it and activate Evenly.
He set it during the end phase of his opponent's turn. There did seem to be some sort of error in communication which kind of sounded like his opponent passed turn twice, but he did all of that before he drew for turn.

What do you do against skill drain? just scoop em up, and they wont draw it next game? Ive been going on a tear on db rated, but really just been fucked by floodgates, especially lab w/ skill drain.
How do you beat labyrinth with traptrix I played with the deck got two wins then faced a labyrinth player he won first round and on the second round all I could do was raflesia pass because I knew he had lava golem so we played to time with no one doing damage cause he couldn’t rid my raflesia or play evenly to clear my board
I don't understand the play at 1:19:05. That Rafflesia activation was not legal, as Chixao was not SS'd that turn; moreover, it should have destroyed it. Am I missing something? Also, why didn't you pop Chixao last turn? Were you worried about an Evenly Mathced? Cuz you could have simply skipped your BP instead.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but at 1:03:09, you banished your Nib token to summon a traptrix from GY via your spell. Isn’t that an illegal move because your cost could not be fulfilled as the token was not banished.

It actually gets destroyed by the barrone, see trap monsters vs targeting rulings. Happens in speed duels all the time with zoma the spirit Vs cosmic cyclone
@prudx2775 zoma still a trap though, the same goes for eldlich card. Holutea is no longer a trap but is treated as a monster. Check rulings on that and you will see that the card is not destroyed because it becomes a completely different card.

Once Traptrix Holetaea is no longer treated as a Trap when its effect resolves, any effects applied to it while it was in the Spell & Trap Zone are removed. In other words, after that point, the effects “banish it during the End Phase of your next turn” and “banish them when they leave the field” are no longer applied to it.

@pak, there is this insect named beargram that is broken is this deck with 3400 ATK and 2800 defense that is like exciting knight for the main deck that nukes the board except plants and insects and can’t be responded like accesscode talker too and people can’t respond to spell and trap activations. It can be special summoned by banishing 3 plant and insect monsters from hand or graveyard and can be special summoned from hand or graveyard.
@Rucker DaGoat prosp is the most important one, though it's still a bit expensive. If you can, though, prioritize prosp. Lord is an okay tech but the deck kinda covers it's most important role with champa being backrow protection and atypus making all the traptrix big bodies. I don't know if TTT is good in the deck. Haven't tried it.
Forgive me if this is a dumb question; I’m kinda new to yugioh. What is the play with Merrymaker? I’ve read it and I’m not seeing it. I’m definitely missing something.
Merrymaker is just used to get sargas out, it's rank 4 so easy to summon for traptrix. Sargas can be used for it's effect on detachment from your other xyz to get another pop, but overall it's to get 4 materials for Zeus.
Hey my traptrix players. I have question, so if I REALLY can't afford pot of prosperity, what can I play? Traptantalizing tune or pot of extravagance? Which is better?
Traptalizing hurts vs Ash because you end up -1 off that exchange. Extrav can really mess you up. I'd recommend Extrav only if you are running a trap heavy build and you are brave enough.
Been playing this deck for a about a week now after coming back to ygo after 12 years, just wondering what you opening play is when going first and blind, there’s obviously variance but if you were to end on sera +1 other monster what would you choose.

It only gets boost from "hole" traps. So it didn't have the 1000 attack increase.

How do you beat labyrinth with traptrix I played with the deck got two wins then faced a labyrinth player he won first round and on the second round all I could do was raflesia pass because I knew he had lava golem so we played to time with no one doing damage cause he couldn’t rid my raflesia or play evenly to clear my board
I don't understand the play at 1:19:05. That Rafflesia activation was not legal, as Chixao was not SS'd that turn; moreover, it should have destroyed it. Am I missing something?
Also, why didn't you pop Chixao last turn? Were you worried about an Evenly Mathced? Cuz you could have simply skipped your BP instead.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but at 1:03:09, you banished your Nib token to summon a traptrix from GY via your spell. Isn’t that an illegal move because your cost could not be fulfilled as the token was not banished.
tokens can be banished, just not banished face-down

You can just copy the list from the previous episode. Prosperity helps with consistency with a minor cost, it's ok if you dont have them

Yes i think so becsuse card is no longer a trap but a monster, so it wasn't the original targeted card

It actually gets destroyed by the barrone, see trap monsters vs targeting rulings. Happens in speed duels all the time with zoma the spirit Vs cosmic cyclone
@prudx2775 zoma still a trap though, the same goes for eldlich card. Holutea is no longer a trap but is treated as a monster. Check rulings on that and you will see that the card is not destroyed because it becomes a completely different card.

@pak, there is this insect named beargram that is broken is this deck with 3400 ATK and 2800 defense that is like exciting knight for the main deck that nukes the board except plants and insects and can’t be responded like accesscode talker too and people can’t respond to spell and trap activations. It can be special summoned by banishing 3 plant and insect monsters from hand or graveyard and can be special summoned from hand or graveyard.
I've tried it. It's okay but it is often a brick and isn't relevant until turn 3 at which point you're likely to have already won.

@Rucker DaGoat prosp is the most important one, though it's still a bit expensive. If you can, though, prioritize prosp.
Lord is an okay tech but the deck kinda covers it's most important role with champa being backrow protection and atypus making all the traptrix big bodies.
I don't know if TTT is good in the deck. Haven't tried it.
Sun shines a tiny bit brighter now that a single copy of Prosperity does run you for ~$120.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question; I’m kinda new to yugioh. What is the play with Merrymaker? I’ve read it and I’m not seeing it. I’m definitely missing something.
Merrymaker is just used to get sargas out, it's rank 4 so easy to summon for traptrix.
Sargas can be used for it's effect on detachment from your other xyz to get another pop, but overall it's to get 4 materials for Zeus.

Hey my traptrix players. I have question, so if I REALLY can't afford pot of prosperity, what can I play? Traptantalizing tune or pot of extravagance? Which is better?
Traptalizing hurts vs Ash because you end up -1 off that exchange. Extrav can really mess you up. I'd recommend Extrav only if you are running a trap heavy build and you are brave enough.
