Hi this is an automated message
Please get out of my walls I can hear you crying
8:58 That was the angriest "FUCK" ive ever heard Prod say in the years ive been watching him 😂😂
9:00 - 9:10
I don't think in the like 4 years I've been watching prod (on yt at least) I've ever heard such actual anger and frustration come out of cookie's servants mouth xD
You can tell it was really bugging him here lol
I understand him though, that spot is horrible, but not the worst in my opinion.
I remember first watching him when he was raging vs Ludwig.
I was thinking the same thing. I legit cant blame him tho. Those flys are annoying.
9:00 the pure annoyance and anger behind that "fuck" is so relatable bro
I got second-hand anger from the part with the grab spamming fly men.
The accidental missing of a few of the messages made the reveal that they can’t be hurt way more surprising
The atmosphere in the Abyssal Woods is phenomenal and spooky.
However, it is a bit too big for how empty it is and not being able to use Torrent makes it a bit tedious to traverse.
I also wish they would put more enemies there than 90% rats.
A Frenzied Hornsent Warrior would be cool
That Shaman Village area is so beautiful and haunting at the same time.
I'm so glad you did the "one eternity later" thing twice in a row lmao
Surprised it took this long for Prod to see a "I want to go home and then edge" message
I saw one in the starting cave
The swords of light and darkness, they have an extra effect.
If the AoW on the sword of darkness hits an enemy, it debuffs they holy damage negation. If the sword of light AoW is used, it buffs your holy damage dealt.
I think lorewise the flame of frenzy is one of the few things that can truly damage spirits, and that is why Torrent is scared of that area.
Also, I found out watching someone else play that those frenzy winter lantern, while seemingly invulnerable, can be poise broken with normal attacks, so parrying them is technically not the only option. You have to hit the riposte to make them vulnerable to damage though.
One of them or just the first one you kill drops a talisman
@shinotenshi45 it's the one nearest the Abandoned Church. The others just drop swollen grapes.
1:31 Yep, it's the first few notes the game's main theme. Do you know why? Because this village is where Marika was born
2:22 If you have Jolan's spirit summon, you can bring it here and turn it into the Jolan And Anna spirit summon
that's cool i didn't know that about the spirit summons!
Its cool that they let you upgrade a spirit summon to have more entities. Its a shame they didn't do that with the spirit summon that truly deserved it; Jelly. But I suppose being able to summon 2 Jellies would be way more overpowered.
9:25 - Rakshasa: Pronounced: Rākṣasa | राक्षस in Sanskrit. Basically in simple terms means a demon.
13:14 Those are some hungry hippos
Hungry hippos havoc
Prod lore: The greater will is merely a product of Cookie's mind, a thought manifested into existence.
Putting one of those grabby flies next to one of the monks was so damn mean. Real classic Souls mean.
"sit on it?!" lmao
The winter lanterns return
34:52 Is that the Spencer Mansion from Resident Evil?
Interesting how much opinions vary on this frenzy area. A lot of people hated it, but I loved it. The atmosphere was great and it was a nice change of pace.
I was cool at first. But once you have to spend a lot of time running around on foot in the barely populated area, it just becomes a chore.
Then there's the whole "screwing up the parry timing and having to run back to the stupid winter lanterns over and over again" thing. By the time I got done mopping them up, I was completely done with the area. It's not spooky anymore. The only feeling I associate with the area now is annoyance.
@@rainbowkrampuswhy would you even go around killing the Winter Lanterns? The point if the area is to be disortiented but you eventually find your way out by elimination
@@degg7129 One of them drops a very strong talisman. Disorientation would be fine if it wasn't so painful to traverse. Its a literal expanse of nothing filler content with rats and the occasional enemy you just crouch or kill to get around. Waiting for it to teleport, parrying and killing it takes the same amount of time as just crouching and holding the stick up, so its literally the same time waster.
@@degg7129 One of them drops a talisman. The others just need to die because f*** those things in particular.
Once you realize that the time to parry is when the arm starts to pull back and not when it swings forward as you'd expect, they're very simple and consistent to kill.
Also they don't respawn. So it makes subsequent trips through the woods easier. Which, ya know, on a blind first playthrough, you don't know that there's nothing actually around to discover.
@@rainbowkrampus i played blind and after the first three or so dead ends i kinda realized there wasnt much to see, and the intention was to just escape it as soon as posible, but i agree, the intention was probably not conveyed well
The fact that we didn't get the necromancer's ricochet spell is criminal
Here is another way to look at the seemingly random items - FromSoft have always used random items to guide player's attention to either spots of interest or to ambush points. Take for example that smithing stone 1 you found after the two hippos - that is actually a great place to stand for any ranged build to safely fight the hippos. In my own blind playthrough, that is what happened. I saw one hippo and then stealthed around to see if I would get ambushed by something else while fighting the first one. Then I saw the little hill and decided to shoot at the hippos safely from range. Neither of them could get to me. And in case anyone fights the hippos first before surveying the area, they are still rewarded with an item that is useful in general. Yes, by the time of the DLC, most players will at the very least be able to buy the first level of smithing stones, but already having them is a small convenience. And for me personally, I prefer general useful items with the occasional cool weapon or armor, instead of having more weapons, spells, or armors, that are only very slightly different from ones we already have. For example, there are 5 versions of Glintsone pebble - Swift, Normal, Greatshard, Cometshard, and Comet. Out of these, only Swift is mechanically special because it has that instant cast speed and chaining ability. And every one will only use one of the other four. And personally, Night comet is better than all of them because it does not trigger AI dodges and is almost as strong as Comet with good setup.
or they could dedicate enough time for the weapons and armor to be unique in their own right, I loved the dlc, but for the size of it we didnt get as many weapons and armors as I thought we would, and no new special enemies for the areas, cerulean coast and charos hidden grave have the same enemies, none really characteristic to the area
@@lyh3815 we didn't get as many weapons as the base game but every weapon we got was unique and interesting. Quality over quantity. As for "dedicating more time", it is very easy for people who are not developers to just say stuff like this. In an interview, Miyazaki said that they had to use all of their resources to make Elden Ring. So no they really couldn't. Anything more would have likely reduced the quality. Do you really want a 6th glintstone pebble spell? Or another dagger or straight sword with quick step and square off, but with slightly different stats?
Also, it simply does not make sense for there to be zero overlap between the main land and dlc. There has to be some enemies that are common. And I would say we got a good amount of new and unique enemies and enemy variants. Of course this part is subjective so it's fine to disagree.
I aint reading all that. Happy for you though. Or sorry that happened.
What is scarier than winter lanterns? Invincible winter lanterns, of course!
"Protect me Prod, we're goon brothers now"
18:53
The exact same thing happened to me.
12:56 They made more hiding spots then new items just in case.
The devs were leaving that spot open for a cooler item but were not able to fill all the little hidden spots with unique items. That's why you sometimes get random stuff.
man never seen prod that much angry forever 😂😂
8:52
this is what i have been waiting for
Smithing stone issue, you can kill 10 Messmer soldiers and for the runes you get buy over 200 smithing stone 1s. I totally agree with you, why not a somber 7 or 9, something rare, something that buying many of is expensive.
"Her grandmother is smokin" SMOKIN HOT HELLL YEEAAAHHH
Sad to hear you got spoiled about such big elements so early on. I also really did my best to remain spoilerfree but people are really willynilly with their youtube thumbnails and instagram posts :^T
It's impossible for them to enjoy something in silence, or at the very least be considerate enough to put a damn spoiler warning.
I'm gonna hide this in a reply so it doesn't get too much attention.
I bought the dlc for 2 of my friends because I wanted them to experience it too. One of them had the audacity to express the most insincere gratitude I've ever seen as well as spoiled multiple weapons, spells, incantations and bosses because he has no self control. If I could, I would go back in time and stop myself from sending him that cash 😡
Nice video as always and great atmosphere in this area, cheers. Would have been also cool if it had some larger part where it was so dark that you could only see the light of your lantern / torch
Glad to see I'm not the only one getting oiled up watching Prod
Love you Prod. I did the exact same thing with the large pog imp :/ good thing it wasn’t too special of an item.
I really find it very funny how Prod only read like 1/3 of the messages on the ground leading up to the Winter Lanterns. Especially the "Combat is not an Option" one. Would have been priceless.
8:30 I was dying 😂
next time you're on i'll be sure to like that edge message haha
thank you
Ranni said you can parry that horror monster's attack which will render it vulnerable to attack.
The low level gear and materials in a DLC where you have to fight and beat MOHG and RADAHN just to get there was so weird. Like, bruh, I b-lined to the DLC, but I still had level capped weapons before going into the DLC. Items that are super rare? sure, but smithing stone 1's give me a break.
I completely agree with the smithing stone 1 thing. It feels kind of dissapointing to find a secret or a hidden alcove just for couple of arrows or smithing stones that I can just buy for couple of runes... If there we're some buffs like the golden vows or at least rune arcs it wouldn't feel as bad

Cool cant wait for the rest
cannot WAIT to see you fight midra :D
Flies are prod's favorite enemy
parrying those big head madness nerds to death is very satisfying ngl first time in that place was a nightmare
Love u prod thanks for editing the play through for us TH-cam dwellers
U can parry the winter lanterns by doing the parry right as they lift their hands. After that, the invulnerability goes away.
We have been blessed in Cookies light for today we have been gifted most generously by allowing Prod to upload 40mins of content.
Loving all your vids. One day you shall be free of Gravity's curse.
Hey @Prod, you might have heard the answer already since these come out a while after you streaming. But the DLC giving you all smithing stones and ghost gloveworts is likely for two reasons:
You can enter the DLC relatively early in the main game and it still helps you level your weapons.
Aaaand likely Miyazaki knows how crazy people get with challenge runs. Iron Pineapple already showed it. He started the DLC with nothing and only used items found there to level his gear.
But for most people entering the DLC lategame or NG+, it's pretty useless indeed.
It was nice to hear the halo theme, it reminded me of nicer times
1:42 "heals nearby enemies"
That's not what it says Prod!
I'm so glad I just used Assassin's Gambit to run past all those Winter Lanterns. Lol
Prod is it true that cookie took down the giant dragon
yes but it was an accident, the courts can't prove it
Gravity death counter, day 920. 1 Deaths in this video, 128 deaths this year.
shaman village was my favourite location in the game. It's so calm and peaceful, and it recontextualizes all of marika's lore
I am absolutely loving the double catalyst staff, I've missed this type of stuff
Being a mage who can give themselves every type of damage resistance depending on the situation I'm in is practically an addiction
We should've gotten more than one.
LMAOO the flies
its funnier when it happens to someone else XD
I also enjoyed the ambience of the abyssal woods. Gave me Legend of zelda ocarina of time The Well vibes
You're not the only one who hates all the smithing stone drops. You can literally buy 1-9 and 1-24 with the bell bearings
Getting smithing stones 1s, 2s etc. in DLC makes sense as From Soft knows that people do challenge runs, and potential challenge run with "DLC only" condition would mean that You can't upgrade Your weapon if there aren't basic smithing stones in the DLC.
I wish we got got the last two aspect of the crucible incantations (the centaur and freaky tongue) or even the bouncy spells those undead sorceres use (might be horrible for invaders in pvp tho) instead of the random junk scattered across the map. I guess a case can be made for the smithing stones existing because I've seen people do the dlc without using things from the lands between (except of course Hewg to upgrade the weapons) but glass shards and furcalling finger remedies are the last thing I expected to see in the dlc.
“Creates a small illusionary erdtree that continually the hp of nearby enemies” prod made an oopsie😂
Assassin's Gambit (and other Concealing Veil effects) can trivialize that area
1:38 "Creates a small, illusIONARY Erdtree that continuously restores the HP of nearby ENEMIES"
Either the badly translated has gotten to him or he just knows the people he invades will use it, ergo his enemies.
Maybe this is a hot take but this area was phenomenal to me until I actually got caught. I ran away and… was successful? It kind of ruined the immersion. The enemy needs to be faster than your running speed and needs to do more madness buildup to actually be frightening because as it stands sprinting and panic rolling is enough to get away.
it needed to be more than winter lanterns and a cool boss (who had only one phase), maybe something like the bloodborne amygdalas but with madness
I personally don't mind getting smithing stones from the DLC as it means spending less money buying them from The Roundtable and less time spent farming to get a new weapon to max level.
Yeah, I agree with the lack of rewards in a lot of sub areas. It's one of the few things I found actually irritating in the DLC.
That being said, I didn't really mind if you at least got some smithing stones, as that meant I had an easier time upgrading the new weapons I wanted to try out.
I would've preferred it if we found them close to being maxed out, though, since you're in the ensgame, anyway.
rakshasa... sir alonne!!
For upgrade drop in DLC is for who speed run new game straight into DLC
But the glass shard tho... understandable xD
Full lvl imp cannon ashes are fun!
Rakshasa reminded me of Sir Alonne too.
I agree with you about the randomly placed loot. The stuff that IS worth exploring for is also so well hidden, it's INCREDIBLY difficult to find without a guide of some sort. I'll complain about that way faster than I will the difficulty of the DLC. I did nothing but explore for the first few days of the DLC, found a ton of areas but missed so many items, spells, etc. After a few bosses in, I put even more emphasis into exploring and still missed a bunch and not because I wasn't being thorough. They just took to hiding the important stuff a little too well, and where you'd naturally think something might be in a nook or cranny, there's either smithing stones, gloveworts, or just.. nothing where you'd think there should be. OR a cookbook, which is obviously much better than the former but nowhere near as exciting as weapons, armor, talismans. This goes hand in hand with how empty some places, like Abyssal Woods, Finger Ruins, and the Cerulean Coast feels for just a few examples. Don't get me wrong, the DLC was absolutely massive, especially compared to what Miyazaki said while trying to be humble about it. I just think that was also a bit of a downside in itself, when you look at it from a density perspective. They did such a fantastic job creating this overlapping map with a bunch of paths and secrets, but what are you really putting throughout them? That's where it falls a bit short for me. I found myself exploring just to transition from one area to the next without finding much of significance.
Here is another way to look at the seemingly random items - FromSoft have always used random items to guide player's attention to either spots of interest or to ambush points. Take for example that smithing stone 1 you found after the two hippos - that is actually a great place to stand for any ranged build to safely fight the hippos. About the "empty areas" complaint I've been hearing : For the Abyssal Woods, if it was filled with stuff or enemies, it would completely lose the atmosphere they are going for. Cerulean Coast being "empty" is something I don't understand. Maybe my definitions are just different, but I don't think it is empty at all. The Finger Ruins I agree feel a bit empty, but I don't know if putting more stuff in it would help. All 3 of them have the Remembrance duplicator in them, and have incredible lore significance.
@krishnansubramoni7801 I know that item placement is often times more important than the item itself, but I'm not referring to bait items or "discovery" items if you would like to call them that. Those serve a purpose, although I can't remember the last time seeing an item made me find something I otherwise wouldn't have. I'm talking about the items I find when there are no enemies around, at some edge or corner of some place. I disagree that they are convenient unless they are high level upgrade materials, because you're in roundtable when upgrading anyway. You can take 10 seconds to buy as many as you like at that point. Me taking the time to actually go pick up that item when exploring is actually slightly inconvenient if anything.
As far as the areas - I get that Abyssal Woods had a particular vibe to it, but there weren't even that many winter lanterns. I counted maybe 5 total in the entire area, and other than that, a bunch of rats, goats, and the occasional inquisitor towards the manse area. It felt "empty" as in there was very little significant items or locations in the area for how big it was. Felt big for the sake of being big. The atmosphere was fantastic, it was just disappointing to explore such an open area with plenty of opportunity, only to random items. Particularly because it was the last area I explored aside from the final area. Cerulean coast is by far the least guilty, it was aesthetically beautiful but I can't remember anything specifically cool coming from it other than the Star-Lined Sword - which in itself was worth exploring the whole area for imo. Finger Ruins, yeah, could've done more. Put a dungeon somewhere tucked away, or a field boss. The snakelike enemies sniping you off of Torrent just felt annoying more than anything.
That being said, I still give the DLC its deserved praise and respect. It's now my favorite Fromsoft DLC for a reason. I just don't think it's without faults either and I believe it's important to recognize where they could improve so that when they hopefully do, it's all the more satisfying.
What a banger video 🫡
Honestly that stamina talisman helped get me through the final boss.
while I understands the frustration behind getting low level upgrade materials as drops, I don't think they're bad. They might seem random at first but you have to keep in mind that many people finish the game and rarely touch it again and thus they don't have all the weapons maxed out nor the smithing stones to do so, especially considering that upgrading multiple weapons can get quite pricey
for the madness forest just slap on concealing vail and makes the area a lot easier for people who might not know
What is the doom song used in the outtro? I’ve been trying to find the one for so long it’s Iconic!
I somehow did every catacomb with a death knight, but still missed them due to thinking I had completed it due to getting a good item and leaving before I found the boss fight.
A lot of people complain that this area is to empty.
Honestly the area being this empty does add a lot to atmosphere. Just instantly know something down there has to be REALLY scary.
And few things in the Elden Ring lore are scarier then a Lord of Frenzy.
I agree mostly but one problem is you get almost no real reward for exploration since there is not that much to find. Atmosphere is amazing tho
Loses pretty much all spookiness when you realize it is completely devoid of threats besides one small area that can be avoided extremely easily. I was so excited when I came to this area, but when all I saw was rats for the next 10-20 minutes I just felt disappointed. Frenzy is such a cool thing, and they could've done so, so much more with it. When I saw the messages at the start I was expecting to see eyes between the trees of this great being stalking the character. Honestly biggest disappointment for the DLC for me.
It feels like they didn't had enough time to finish this area, there's stuff on the back of the big house, place holders for items and stuff.
The vibe was kinda killed for me when I learned that you can just parry the winter lanterns though. Or just dodge their grabs.
They need to allow you to use torrent when you've killed midra
25:30 Ngl, I got frightened a little bit.
I guess the counter argument to receiving early game items like smithing stone [1], gloveworts, and whatnots, is that its for upgrading new DLC items. But then again, its DLC, a lot of people who enters it probably already have hundreds of it. You can also get it from twin maiden husk, which is very cheap for an end-game player.
Just to enter the DLC you have to get past the point where the first two smithing stone bell bearings are
The fact they are called Winter Lanterns (I think), makes me a very happy hooonter
I hope for a revenge x-scope montage of him parrying the lantern guys
Hopefully in the next game they figure out a better way of doing miscellaneous loot to scatter around instead of trash like glass shards and arrows.
Like a good option i think everyone would love that they could add dozens of would be dyes to change the color of armor.
They could also add character customization into the mix like the crafting books, have tattoo designs and extra hairstyles scattered about the place in little booklets.
Character customization stuff hidden away in dangerous areas is - at least in my opinion, way worse than even a single smithing stone 1. Most people don't change their character's appearance after they make it. But everyone can make use of an item like smithing stones. Also, finding arrows is great for any ranged build. Also, in this particular, case, finding arrows means that the devs want you to look around and maybe look at things that can only easily be hit using a bow or crossbow. I'm not going to say anymore in case of spoilers, but there are some cheeky hidden things in the DLC.
Imagine if they made the rat shoots frenzied flames at you... Ooooh
Yeah wish we found more Rune Arcs as well Anyways keep up the amazing videos Prod
There is a place in the DLC where the enemies drop rune arcs.
@prod
Parry the giant eyeball things when they try to grab u
1:13 you have to go into the secret side entrance to drain the water. I can’t really explain the path it’s hard to do so. I would suggest watching a video
those Fly grabs are the most annoying attack in the whole DLC
You can parry the madness people and it'll give you a tailsmen
I agree on the smithing stone thing. I mean who hasn’t found all the bell bearings yet. 7, 8, and 9’s are ok tho.

@krishnansubramoni7801 my problem is when I go way off path to something that seems to be hidden and it's just a crafting material.
When I first got here and saw torrent dip, I just turned my back and didn't return until I cleared two other areas. 😂
Coming here after General Sam's last upload. 😂
It's easy. You just touch the cookbook get so mad that u can't read it. So u start throwing all rats and wintern lanterns together in a pot and poof madnes pot recipe unlocked😂
To be fair... if I want to level up weapons.... I just bought smithing stones considering I have all the bell bearings
Prod died to aged ones more than every other streamer i watched combined
Bro is legit blind, running over half of the massages.
I wish more souls youtubers would critique the issues in the game more. I saw one dude on twitter criticising the last boss but then in the same tweet saying the DLC was a 10/10 ... that's why they won't fix the issues. Because they get praised for mediocrity as well as what deserves to be praised.
It's scary... until you parry!
The smithing stone shards are just padding imo. The blacksmith dungeons having a variety of smithing stones makes sense but they shove low tier smithing stones in every corner just to have an item. If they had added double the number of +10 and +25 stones and gloveworts then it would be more rewarding, or at the very least just kept it to upper tier smithing stones then it would feel better.
The fly grab attack may be the worst thing to ever happen anywhere to anyone, truly unholy.
Parry them Prod, they wont "see" it coming😅
