    Correction: The army fitness test information is outdated, they actually perform: t-pushups or hand release pushups, standing power throw, spring drag carry, 3 rep max deadlift, plank, and a 2 mile run. These actually MAY require practice in a gym.

      If you can swim the length of an Olympic sized swimming pool, without flailing around, you will have no problem passing the swim your first time around.

    I will say if you are out of shape like I was it’s not the end of the world. If your body fat is over the standard you’ll be in the Future Sailor Prep program at bootcamp. All you do is eat your meals and exercise. The good news is you’ll get in shape much faster the bad news is it adds on another 3 weeks to bootcamp but at least you’ll be more prepared for the PRT.
    I enlisted to help get discipline with myself and I got it for sure. Of course prepare for bootcamp but in my case I was only in DEP for 3 weeks and even with daily runs, pushups and plank practice I still needed more work

    Going to the gym give some the hard work out spirit and that motivates us. I work out so much better when I go to the gym or outside than at home.

    Great video. Straight to the point and presented/edited well. I appreciate how you emphasize doing what you can when you can.
    The Navy ended up giving me the run-around but the Army is going to bat for me. I go to MEPS next week for them as a 13B.
    I’m a scrawny 26 year-old 5’11/145lbs kickboxer so I gotta get my pushups and deadlifts in , haha. I’m giving myself at least two months from signing before I go to BCT.

    • @HaedenBeck
      @HaedenBeck  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks. You can try a different recruiting office or recruiter before giving up on the Navy, but if you think the army is a better fit then hey here's to you.

    • @hornetnezt
      @hornetnezt 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@HaedenBeck It ended up being the best bet to go with the Army after looking at my 5 year plan with the Mrs’s. Plus they had the specific combat arms MOS open here that I wanted and I scored well high enough for it. No shade to the Navy! I’ve been told the same about it being different for every individual recruiter.
      By the way, as a history major, it would be cool if you did some videos on various US Navy sailors, officers, and events one day. Idk if that’s your style. That raid that Admiral John Jones did on the *actual British mainland* during the American War of Independence was crazy to learn about.

      @@hornetnezt Even I got basically ghosted by a recruiter and met up with a different one, but both were in the same office. They got a lot of names flying around and they probably can't tell who's really serious and who is just dipping toes. I thought of the same, but there's a lot more to cover about the Navy before covering naval history. Other channels already covered it with graphics and stuff that I don't have anyways hehe. I hope your career goes well!

      Meat and potatoes, mass gainer perhaps. You should talk to a doctor or dietician before making major changes. What I did to go from 120 pounds to 150 was just eat a bunch of mcdonalds every lunch, I don't recommend that.

    • @HaedenBeck
      @HaedenBeck  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      All branches pay the same base rate by dod paygrade, which can be googled. However there's also extra pay on top. There's a whole video about this and this answer is really not a great example to use but as an E4 in Bahrain my paycheck is around $1,500 twice a month. So $3,000.

    Dont they put you on a bike if you cant pass the run?

    • @HaedenBeck
      @HaedenBeck  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For the actual PRT yeah, or the treadmill, but in boot camp if you couldn't pass the run you were retested, and if you failed that you were sent back in training.

    • @whenhen
      @whenhen 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@HaedenBecknot true any more. They will put people on the bike who fail the run, and will ASMO the failures into a holding unit until they pass. In my division and bro div, the vast majority passed the first time on the bike and the rest passed within two weeks.
      Thanks to the recruiting crisis it’s very difficult for even obese people to fail RTC

    • @HaedenBeck
      @HaedenBeck  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's not my area, but generally speaking you need very high fitness standards. Just tell MEPS you want to go to such and such a program and if you qualify with your fitness standards and ASVAB you'll get signed up for it. Just be advised that 70-85% of people fail BUD/S, often times because of injuries.

      @@user-di7yp1ln3h Well I wish you the best of luck, you're getting pretty close to the max age for SEAL without waivers. Just know that if you don't pass the training they'll make you do something else and you'll still be in for 4+ years. I hope you pass BUD/S!

      @@user-di7yp1ln3h I met a few people who failed BUD/S training, all of them failed the first week of it. It's THAT hard. And these are rock solid men. 2 of them quit because they were injured and didn't want to slow their team down just for their own ego, they let go. A lot of "BUDS DUDS" become MAs. I believe it's after 2 years, you can go back and try again.
