im glad i saw your vid, because this seems like exactly what ive been looking for. just got back into flying. used to fly a Geprc mark3, and like doing balls to the wall freestyle, but i really want to get into expressLRS and long range. seems like the best of both worlds.
Great name Rekon 5. I have an Iflight Protek 2.5" coming soon. A great review Captain as always, -17 out and the Captain is still bearing the cold. Certainly a dedicated TH-camr indeed! I think and I know , the Captain should have way more subs for his efforts on this channel.
I love the little buzzing sound. It's fast, and love the shots with the GoPro. I'm not sure about the body style but other than that, it's an awesome drone. I can tell it has power. Thanks for the video.👍👍👍
I’m really enjoying this quad on 6s!! It’s great for a nice cruise but has so much torque for freestyle and some racing! All around a wonderful quad to add to my fleet!! Thank you for your video, I always purchase the drones when I see u get excited while filming for your channel! Never has let me down! Thanks Steve

Steve your killing me, I want one, But like your Great Advice, you had mentioned to me, that most people start with Camera Drones first, So if I didn't just purchased the,Fantastic TripleTek pro tablet, I could of maybe, started slowly purchasing, Fpv components. Your amazing 👏 Steve, you are a true Drone Warrior. I degree Wow, I will pray that you will be able to, give up your Day time Job, How do you keep all your Battery's at there best performance, I already had one of my Fimi2020 batteries, bricked I think that's what they say when it won't take a charge, just two circles on the battery will start blinking forward and backwards and then finally just shut off, any ideals, is there a sequence, to hold down the power button, or press it several times, Thank you Steve, your amazing. People complain that with this kind of GoPro mount with every crash you have to reposition camera. And this drone is currently sold out. Looks like it could be a multypurpose drone instead of bying several ones. BTW, nice weather. We had -25 for a day, but mostly -17 as well. Now it's warm and melting

Hey Captain Drone, I will be driving through B.C. and the Yukon on my way to Alaska this spring and was wondering what differences there are with drone regs in Canada vs the US. I would love to see a video on this if you have the time.
In Canada people get a bit upset if you fly a drone in their vicinity, so stay away from people, moving cars, buildings and you'll be fine.
Ok, so the normal stuff still needs to be done. Is there anything different in the max altitude of 400 feet agl you can fly at, or distance of four miles from airports? Is there anything like the LAANC system that will allow you to get authorization to operate in areas where you couldn’t without authorization? I hold a part 107 license, does that make any difference with how a drone can me operated?

I'm not quite up to using 6s yet. I'm ay 4s power now lol Based on 1 of you vids I switched to FPV drones and it's so much more fun than camera drones. 💪😎 This might be a drone I pick up or a cinewhoop

This cruiser class of drones seems really up my alley. I'm not looking for balls out speed for racing or freestyle. I kinda just wanna do a casual flight with maybe some flips and rolls for fun. Is this a drone you would recommend for that? I see the Rekon 5 comes with digital or analog. I'd like digital but not necessarily the DJI system. The sharkbyte system seems more budget friendly and at least better than analog. Would it be better to juts buy a PNP analog andf the swap out the VTX/camera?
My advice is get yourself the DJI FPV Goggles, then buy any digital camera drone with the CADDX Vista system or DJI Air Unit system. Digital camera FPV drones are now more popular than analog camera FPV drones, and 99% of manufacturers are making them for the DJI FPV Goggles.

How was this drone with the GoPro - have you tried it long range with the GoPro on Li-Ion batteries? I'm trying to decide between 5 and 6 inch.
I have not tried it long range. With the Gopro is flies great but obviously flight time is reduced.
What would I need to use this easily. Drone, controller, goggles and batteries. Is that it and what do you suggest and where do you suggest to get it. Liv in USA illinois. Est cost all in.

Depends what rx you use, crossfire and dji digital will give you 10 miles (hard limit dji digital)
Out of the box, the one in this review would easily go 2.5 miles and probably much farther depending on the location flown.

Question - The Rekon 5 has a built in current meter and the Betaflight readout for "current sensing" is way way way off. Like I'm pulling 30+ amps at 45% throttle on a li-ion. (Which would toast the battery).
Has anyone calibrated the Zeus flight controller and got a proper readout on amp draw?

Captain, do you notice a difference between 4K/30 video and 2.7K/60 video shot from a drone. I am not talking about doing post production cropping and zoom ins, just regular content. I can't see much difference but then I have not been shooting 4K for long. I know you have extensive knowledge on this. Thanks

New to DJI FPV....Got everything bound and tried to set it up in Betaflight. For some reason Betaflight is not seeing my DJI transmitter. Any ideas why ?
Yup, one of the following problems:
- You are using a bad USB C cable
- You plugged the USB C Cable into the wrong input (there are two on every drone)
- You forgot to attach a battery to the drone
- Finally, your PC or MAC requires drivers to access the comm port.
Does it have follow me and orbit around me mode?
I think you are thinking of a CAMERA DRONE and not a real FPV DRONE.

Yes, many different types. The controller just needs to be able to speak to whatever receiver you stuck in the drone when you ordered it.

If you are just doing everyday flying then no real differences in flight.

How about supporting your claims (better freestyle, higher speed, etc.) with a demo? Like doing the same real freestyle moves (not the flips that you did, any drone can do this) on the 4" drones and then on this 5" drone, or actually measuring their max speed? Since you have GPS working(?). Or, say, doing the real long-range flying, since all these drones claim to be long range? I checked that I can fly out Flywoo Explorer LR to at least 5 miles, how about you doing the same with Rekon 5? What about actually testing RTH on this drone? Does it find any sats? How many? Does it come back?
You must be a young newbie in drone regulations around the world. No long distance permitted in my country. Careful how you fly, you don't want to ruin it for the rest of us.

The lose lead supposed to be for a receiver I heard. But what receiver does have a connector like this ? I checked my R-XSR.... it’s different.

If you buy the digital version and have the DJI FPV RADIO, then you don't pick any receiver.
Does the big boxy DJI race edition goggles sink to this?
They are not really designed for the FPV Hobby since they are so big in size. The RACE Edition goggles have an ANALOG option, so if you had an ANALOG FPV drone, you could get them to work together.

I don´t have any experience in FPV Drones but I watched your very interesting series "FPV for beginners" it´s very informativ. My question about this Rekon 5 drone is, would you recommend it as a beginner drone? I like the possibilities with this type of drone, the size and perhaps if I getting in this hobby the possbility for long range flights.

For beginners to the FPV world I always recommend any drone that does not cost go much because you are going to pretty much destroy the drone learning how to fly FPV. Smaller drones are sometimes easier. Remember that the FPV drone hobby has no restrictions on what the drone can do so they are extremely powerful compare to the beginner hobby of camera drones like DJI and Autel, and they take some practice before you can fly without crashing.

Sure you are right, I saw many nice videos from fpv drones flying up to mountains and along rivers, that´s really cool but much of practice is needed before I could do things like that. I only flying drones from DJI, phantom, mavic, mini but I have noticed it´s a complete different way of drone flying. A bit boring in compare to fpv drones ;)
I will start slowly with fpv and I think I will try it with the tinyhawy II kit for beginning.
So, what is meant with long range in km?
In the FPV world, Long Range means the drone is capable of going as far as you want it to. So if you want it to go 15 or 25 miles, it can because in the FPV world you select the receiver, you select the radio, you select the transmission. If you are a newbie, then out of the box the digital version will do a minimum of 2 miles.
