I think LR will be the new thing. With the FAA wanting to change rules I think many are saying screw the changes coming and lets go stealthier and farther. The farther you can go, the harder you are to find :)

I will never install it on my quads, but I live in the middle of a 674 square mile National Forest and I do fly safe and think FPV is more safe than Line Of Site. I was a Heli Pilot and a Pilots view is the safest view if you keep an eye on your surroundings. The FAA needs to wake up and protect our hobby. FPV MATTERS!
This style has been around forever in the form of 7 inch long range drone. Dave Clendon or Dave c has been working on his project micro long range and developed this 4 inch iteration. FLYWOO produced it. All the other companies are now providing competition.

You were referring to your long range battery as a low C rating in comparison . Thats not the only difference . The long range pack is LiIon . Your high C rated pack is LiPo . You wont see a much higher c rating in those LiIon . This looks like a cool little midrange flyer with Xfire
I'm a line of eyeball flyer. I can trust myself and drone when I can see it. Distance for me out of sight is not for me. Looks okay, I don't mind changing batteries during a flight break. I like the GPS rescue feature, price is good.

Took two weeks to get mine. Analog version. I also ordered Oct 8th. Harder to get the CADDX digital cameras because of shortage. GEPRC also seems to have produced more parts. Can order the frame and such unlike the hassle that Flywoo gives.

I think you should explain to the new people the differance between LI-ON and LI-PO Batteries. It is not the C rating that is giving it longer flight times. And you should try the 7 inch Croc. Whole different beast.....
Quite a coincidence. I’m doing something similar but in a very cheap and moderately cheerful way. I’m using my prehistoric IRC Vortex 285, with IRC EzUHF, and a 4000mAh 3s Multistar battery which is only 40g heavier than my usual 4S 1400mAh packs. Flight times are about 20mins but range is, well let’s just say a bloody long way. I don’t have GPS rescue but as I’ve upgraded the flight controller I think this will be doable. My video is analog but so is my ageing eyesight. 😉 Nidge.

It is setup out of the box. Now if you are asking how did I assign it to a switch on my radio, then that is just basic BETAFLIGHT stuff (under the MODES tab).
NIce video, Would you say this exact quad flies better with 3S 18650 instead of 4S 18650? Background: I am just trying to build the lightest O3 quad that easily flies for over 15 minutes for exploring on trips. Saw all the 4" LR Models but all seem to recommend 4S instead of 3S. (3S is minimum to have enough voltage for O3..). I though the extra 50g make it more sluggish. (I know +1 18650 is 15% more weight for 33% more voltage & energy, but then you could argue, get a 7" lol)
try a 3S1P (Sony vtc6) . 46 grams less. With my flywoo LR (analog) i have almost 40 minutes of smooth cruising flight (less response . of course). Just for cruising around
as pretty much always been... those batteries are everywhere since years. old laptop? printer? 18650s.. teslas 1st gen.. 18650... easy source but a lot of fakes everywhere. only real discharge tests around the load current imposed by your quad are meaningful
@@mikeevans6926 Buy a controller and sim it for a while then when you can afford it buy the goggles. But you are 100% right very expensive for beta hardware. I’ve seen their prototype controller and it’s PS4 size also there are blueprints for a new set of goggles. So they may still come down in price bc they are very very expensive and cut a whole group of people from the hobby. Yw B
I am looking into getting into drones. I love my planes and want to fly drones as well.I like this size and style.Any tips on goggles or any other tips/accessories I should look at?Looking at around a 400ish budget. Give or take.I do NOT want a crappy cheap garbage experience so a decent mid quality setup would be great!
Just a small suggestion: could you possibly turn down the volume of your intro just as little as I don't think it really matches the rest of the audio in the video 🙂. If I'm alone in this thought, please let me know everyone as it might just be me!!
On my end it is so very hard to tell since I'm using speakers. My guess is the frequency on your end makes it sound loud (the music portions) and on other viewers computers/TVs it sounds fine. I do try and keep the volume less than max on the music.
@@theojackson3074 you can tell he’s mixing it and the levels match his voice but the music is more dynamic and sounds louder. But in my opinion that all doesn’t matter bc I have to turn it down and then wait till he starts talking and then I turn it back up.
This one is on my short list. One thing I was wondering about is how long it takes for GPS lock when first powering on? Some drones with GPS modules take forever to lock due to bad software/implementation/interference. Thanks for this awesome review.
Cold starts can take up to 5/6 mins if not correctly set up. How the wiring is run to the fc is important. But bnf versions should be trouble free .. mine takes 2-4 mins
By the time you connect the battery, then walk back to where you plan to stand or sit, put on the goggles, pick up the controller, the GPS is then locked.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 That's great to hear. I wish this one had the DJI Air Unit instead of the DJI Nebula for the DVR capability. Is there really much quality difference in close range flying betweena DJI Air unit DVR and the DVR in the goggles? (1080p vs 720p)
@@zira_fluff4105 The one in this review has the CADDX VISTA, not the Nebula. Yes due to the 1080p clean video vs the 720p video where the sides are less sharp (the Goggles do that so that the transmission feed is only focused on the center image).
@@gmivisualsjason3729 can you elaborate on how the wiring should be setup? Ive just but a Chimera 4 with TBS GPS and the gps takes more than 20 minutes to get sats in the UK. Hardly worth having it. I have the gps wired upto a mamba f405 Mk3.5 uart 4. It works but just takes too long. Thanks.
It all depends on what is available to be displayed. So if you pick something like Telemetry and your drone does not provide that info through the goggles, you won't see it. So far, the options I have selected for my use all seem to show up in the DJI goggles.
Im no expert in lr fpv but ive spent 20 years with lipo and I can tell u that 30c and 80c won't make a difference. What does make a difference is the props and motors u have. Full throttle at rated v will always draw the same power regardless of what c you have. If u simply put a higher ma pack on then a 30c pack can deliver the same instantaneous v as a smaller mah higher c pack. Keep in mind though that if u pull high power from a pack it won't last long.

@@CAPTAINDRONE798 ok I was just wondering specifically if they sent a full blown air unit cam to test and a Caddx with a Nubula when it’s actually shipped. I will go look again...[update] checked site, checked my xls frm Gep it does not say t just says it comes in 3 versions and on my xls it does give an actual category to differentiate cams but not on the Caddx Vista HD’s the category for cam is not there.
Ordered the Analog on the Oct 8th and Received on the 26th.. I plan on replacing the camera with a spare Caddx Tarsier. Did not order with it originally because I wanted to see if I could get in a reasonable time unlike the backordered Flywoo Explorer LR. Ordered the 3000 Li ion battery and this drone flies very smooth. Only issue I had was GPS was not syncing correctly even with 18 Sats. I kept getting "No GPS Rescue" after getting about 50 yards from start point. Had to keep flying back and trying to re-arm. GPS finally worked but still distance was off. Maybe a bad GPS unit? As for the flight time it was about 17 -20 minutes and that was with easy flying. Wish I ordered more than one battery from GEPRC will take a few weeks to get more from GEPRC (China). Cannot find a US based company selling them. If you know of any let me know please.
I have never had a bad GPS RESCUE unit on a drone yet. Just be sure to let it acquire the sats in an unobstructed area. For me it takes under a min for the sats to be acquired, but then again I am in an open area in the northern hemisphere and sats seem to always come quickly on any drone I use. For batteries, I like the high "C" rating ones and order direct from AMAZON. I'm surprised you only received 20 mins with the 3000 mAh 18650 battery. Plenty of people are getting much longer, but I guess you have to fly very tame in a straight line (no up/down) with no wind for the max performance, and not carry any additional camera.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 DutchRC Adventures tested it stock with only one exception: allowing the quadcopter to fly with, but also without GPS. That is not the same as disabling the GPS or am I mistaken?

Great vid as always. I only have an SG906 Pro drone , so I am new to the racing/freestlye drone business. I see this is available with various receivers , but if I had to for example get the R9mm receiver version , what does the transmitter need to have , would for example the TARANIS X9 Lite be compatible ? What is this R9MM thingy ? It seems to be some sort of seperate module on transmitters.

So if Im not bothered with long range , I need to get a standrd FRKSKY receiver version ( XM ) so that I dont need to by the extra module on the transmitter.
@@joecachia2 That is correct. 99% of people who fly FPV, will fly not for range but for the joy of flying through and under objects at all speeds. You don't need range for that.

I would like to see a height test for the 4in Baby Croc with R9M rx/tx. There are plenty LR distance tests but I haven't yet come across a height test, nobody has done it yet.

Is the long range 30C 3000mah battery included. It seams like it is in all the reviewer package but says nothing about it in the what is included part of the description for the quad.
Excellent Video ZOHD LionPack 3000 mah for my geprc crocodile baby ....... I used to fly with 4s Lipo.... Do I have to make any change on my setup on (Betaflight or in the DJI fpv goggles) to get the Lion battery voltage reading ? I flue 1 time with the Lion pack and I get the low battery warning 5 minutes after take off. Thank you.
You must select the receiver to match the radio you are using. I was using a DJI FPV RADIO so my receiver is called PNP (i.e., Plug and Play or No Receiver)
but the antenna isnt what makes it fly miles and miles and miles..... thats just to get the antenna over the battery so you dont lose signal when you turn around. same dBI as the stub
If you change antenna on a drone, then you must use compatible on your googles.... but that mostly applies to the ANALOG world and not so much the DIGITAL world.

Those are Sony VTC6 18650 cells, - they are *not* 30 C. They are 30 Amps max draw. This equates to about 10C if they are 3Ah batteries.

Yes, but it will be very difficult for you if you've never flown an FPV drone before..... very steep learning curve.

Yes. The googles are large and designed for people with glasses that do not have large frames.

FOR ANALOG: Connect it to BETAFLIGHT CONFIGURATOR and change the settings under the VIDEO TRANSMITTER tab.
FOR DIGITAL: You change it in your goggles.

It is very similar to the ZINO PRO and ZINO 2. I may review it in the future but I don't expect it to be different than the other two ZINOs.

I honestly can't say for the simple reason that a large number of quads are tuned to expect a certain voltage.

18650 is starting to become more available do to change in prices.
as pretty much always been... those batteries are everywhere since years. old laptop? printer? 18650s.. teslas 1st gen.. 18650... easy source but a lot of fakes everywhere. only real discharge tests around the load current imposed by your quad are meaningful

Get the analog version to lower the price. DJI camera and vtx makes the quad more expensive.

@@mikeevans6926 Buy a controller and sim it for a while then when you can afford it buy the goggles. But you are 100% right very expensive for beta hardware. I’ve seen their prototype controller and it’s PS4 size also there are blueprints for a new set of goggles. So they may still come down in price bc they are very very expensive and cut a whole group of people from the hobby.

Just a small suggestion: could you possibly turn down the volume of your intro just as little as I don't think it really matches the rest of the audio in the video 🙂. If I'm alone in this thought, please let me know everyone as it might just be me!!
On my end it is so very hard to tell since I'm using speakers. My guess is the frequency on your end makes it sound loud (the music portions) and on other viewers computers/TVs it sounds fine. I do try and keep the volume less than max on the music.

@@theojackson3074 you can tell he’s mixing it and the levels match his voice but the music is more dynamic and sounds louder. But in my opinion that all doesn’t matter bc I have to turn it down and then wait till he starts talking and then I turn it back up.
This one is on my short list. One thing I was wondering about is how long it takes for GPS lock when first powering on? Some drones with GPS modules take forever to lock due to bad software/implementation/interference. Thanks for this awesome review.
Cold starts can take up to 5/6 mins if not correctly set up.
How the wiring is run to the fc is important.
But bnf versions should be trouble free

By the time you connect the battery, then walk back to where you plan to stand or sit, put on the goggles, pick up the controller, the GPS is then locked.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 That's great to hear. I wish this one had the DJI Air Unit instead of the DJI Nebula for the DVR capability. Is there really much quality difference in close range flying betweena DJI Air unit DVR and the DVR in the goggles? (1080p vs 720p)
@@zira_fluff4105 The one in this review has the CADDX VISTA, not the Nebula. Yes due to the 1080p clean video vs the 720p video where the sides are less sharp (the Goggles do that so that the transmission feed is only focused on the center image).
@@gmivisualsjason3729 can you elaborate on how the wiring should be setup? Ive just but a Chimera 4 with TBS GPS and the gps takes more than 20 minutes to get sats in the UK. Hardly worth having it. I have the gps wired upto a mamba f405 Mk3.5 uart 4. It works but just takes too long.

As far as I know not all selected parameters from OSD beta flight are displayed on the DJI googles
It all depends on what is available to be displayed. So if you pick something like Telemetry and your drone does not provide that info through the goggles, you won't see it. So far, the options I have selected for my use all seem to show up in the DJI goggles.

Im no expert in lr fpv but ive spent 20 years with lipo and I can tell u that 30c and 80c won't make a difference. What does make a difference is the props and motors u have. Full throttle at rated v will always draw the same power regardless of what c you have. If u simply put a higher ma pack on then a 30c pack can deliver the same instantaneous v as a smaller mah higher c pack.
Keep in mind though that if u pull high power from a pack it won't last long.

I will go look again...[update] checked site, checked my xls frm Gep it does not say t just says it comes in 3 versions and on my xls it does give an actual category to differentiate cams but not on the Caddx Vista HD’s the category for cam is not there.

Ordered the Analog on the Oct 8th and Received on the 26th.. I plan on replacing the camera with a spare Caddx Tarsier. Did not order with it originally because I wanted to see if I could get in a reasonable time unlike the backordered Flywoo Explorer LR. Ordered the 3000 Li ion battery and this drone flies very smooth. Only issue I had was GPS was not syncing correctly even with 18 Sats. I kept getting "No GPS Rescue" after getting about 50 yards from start point. Had to keep flying back and trying to re-arm. GPS finally worked but still distance was off. Maybe a bad GPS unit? As for the flight time it was about 17 -20 minutes and that was with easy flying. Wish I ordered more than one battery from GEPRC will take a few weeks to get more from GEPRC (China). Cannot find a US based company selling them. If you know of any let me know please.
I have never had a bad GPS RESCUE unit on a drone yet. Just be sure to let it acquire the sats in an unobstructed area. For me it takes under a min for the sats to be acquired, but then again I am in an open area in the northern hemisphere and sats seem to always come quickly on any drone I use. For batteries, I like the high "C" rating ones and order direct from AMAZON. I'm surprised you only received 20 mins with the 3000 mAh 18650 battery. Plenty of people are getting much longer, but I guess you have to fly very tame in a straight line (no up/down) with no wind for the max performance, and not carry any additional camera.
Maybe because of the soft serial port.
DutchRC Adventures had less luck with the GPS. Any ideas on what the cause of his GEPRC Crocodile Baby-GPS failing?
Probably pilot error in setting up in BETAFLIGHT
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 DutchRC Adventures tested it stock with only one exception: allowing the quadcopter to fly with, but also without GPS. That is not the same as disabling the GPS or am I mistaken?

Great vid as always. I only have an SG906 Pro drone , so I am new to the racing/freestlye drone business. I see this is available with various receivers , but if I had to for example get the R9mm receiver version , what does the transmitter need to have , would for example the TARANIS X9 Lite be compatible ? What is this R9MM thingy ? It seems to be some sort of seperate module on transmitters.

So if Im not bothered with long range , I need to get a standrd FRKSKY receiver version ( XM ) so that I dont need to by the extra module on the transmitter.
@@joecachia2 That is correct. 99% of people who fly FPV, will fly not for range but for the joy of flying through and under objects at all speeds. You don't need range for that.

I would like to see a height test for the 4in Baby Croc with R9M rx/tx. There are plenty LR distance tests but I haven't yet come across a height test, nobody has done it yet.

This is not a racing drone. There are many FPV drones with GPS and all of them are consider LONG RANGE drones.

Is the long range 30C 3000mah battery included. It seams like it is in all the reviewer package but says nothing about it in the what is included part of the description for the quad.
Excellent Video ZOHD LionPack 3000 mah for my geprc crocodile baby ....... I used to fly with 4s Lipo.... Do I have to make any change on my setup on (Betaflight or in the DJI fpv goggles) to get the Lion battery voltage reading ? I flue 1 time with the Lion pack and I get the low battery warning 5 minutes after take off.

You must select the receiver to match the radio you are using. I was using a DJI FPV RADIO so my receiver is called PNP (i.e., Plug and Play or No Receiver)
Is there a gps rescue system that will bring the drone back to you and land?
So far no GPS RESCUE systems on FPV drones land in place.

The Crocodile comes with an LHCP Antenna, ist it possible to change to an RHCP one? Or will it not compatible with the Drone?
If you change antenna on a drone, then you must use compatible on your googles.... but that mostly applies to the ANALOG world and not so much the DIGITAL world.
