I had to laugh at Matthew's comment about Keidrich Sellati being blown away at the 80s technology and set pieces. I have to admit I never even thought about that; a kid born in the age of the internet and probably played with his first iPhone when he was 6 being confronted with "the way things used to be", that for me seem like just yesterday. Pretty funny. :-)
I need to catch up on this show. Saw season 1 and LOVED it. I have the season 2 dvd set. Need to watch and then season 3 all hopefully before season 4 begins.

Those of us who grew up in Cold War will likely find this a most improbable series. Of course, most of it is fictional, but the human undertext is real enough. The idea that KGB agents working in the shadows could be portrayed sympathetically was unthinkable in the 50s to 80s. Here, Philip, Elizabeth and Paige were heroic and loveable, even withstanding their murderous pursuits. And remember that dear old Stan murdered a defenceless Russian in cold blood as well. Dr Johnson got it right: patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.
