This is hands down my favourite Digimon Movie. This movie is excellent, well animated, well designed, with good pacing, a decent mystery, good drama, a great story, a sympathetic villain who is a good foil for our heros, excellent fan-service for longtime Digimon fans, and it even gave us the 02 gang back! It is focused and doesn't get bogged down in evolution sequences nor does the plot digress unnecessarily. This is the bar that I hold all Digimon content to now. Very well done. I love this movie!

@@EckosamaGhostTsushima I feel like Tri was more character pieces as they were getting older. They were all in high school and facing new issues, so the focus went on to them growing up rather then focusing on the constant ongoing threats surrounding them. As well as their bonds with their digimon being tested as they werent little kids anymore
The fact that so many of the original VAs came back for this makes me *so* happy. Also, can we appreciate Tai's face at 0:16 ? X-D
Tai is the only one who sounds like himself in this clip besides Matt and Izzy -A.D.

Tai has the best facial expressions out of everyone in this movie though

Anyone know what the bike is that Matt comes in on? As a motorcycle enthusiast myself, I got a real kick seeing Matt race up on something that looks like a liter bike of some sort. Definite upgrade from the scooter he had in Tri.
Upon further investigation it looks like a Ducati 848. If you look closely at the 0:35 mark, you can faintly see 848 on the side too. You have to admire the level of detail they put into these movies like that.

@@regularslick6038 Face facts man if they haven't dubbed Digital Monster X until now they're not going to change their minds samething with Fusion season 3. App Monsters is the only one that has any hope but even then just a little bit. Honestly I'm 50/50 on the reboot getting a dub but I also don't think they would dub this movie for no reason so that's why I think it's next

@@regularslick6038 Saban hasn't been involved with Digimon since Fusions was canceled.
@@regularslick6038 If I had to guess I'd say it's because App Monsters while a fan favorite didn't actually have good ratings where as Fusion didn't do well as a dub. Overall I think Digimon series where struggling during that time. However the good reception that the reboot has had might've incentivized them to try again and dub the new series

Love that the voice actors are still the same
Some of the original cast did return but most were recast for either this film or the new actors returned from Tri. Far as the digidestened for example only Sora, Tai, Ken and Izzy's original voice actors came back. Davis was going have his original voice actor back as well but due to technical difficulties with his home studio, the role was recast. Plus technically both Joe and Mimi's (and Cody's since both his and Mimi's actor was the same person) had to be recast because of the original actors passed away after Tri but Joe's actor had retired by the time Tri was dubbed. Plus not all of the original cast came back from Tri. Some were recast due to either the original actor was unavailable, chose not to come back, or retired. Sure they got an little more of the original cast members who voiced the digimon returned as well for both this film and Tri but again some of the digimon in either film were recast. Not that saying the new performers did an bad job but, just saying that technically for whatever the reason not everyone from either the original series or the second season came back since arguably the original Digimon Movie. Or at the end of the 2nd season. Since Tai's voice actor didn't return in the first sequel for example.

Man I love this movie that captures the magic heart spirit and emotions of the first two digimon adventure unlike tri which is helped because it was made by directors and writers of the first two digimon adventure series
This is same with tri, many plot holes and focused on giving tai and matt of another evolution.
The people behind adventure/02 didn't write tri. New writers wrote tri plus tri was writing in Japanese then converted into English language

Pokemon creators should learn something from Digimon...
Thing about Pokemon though is that it's focus is more on fun adventures, slight drama, action battles, teaching kids about the importance of nature and keeping things light hearted for the audience that generally enjoys that. Digimon focuses more on the humans and their growth while their Digimon grow a long side them. Sure there is action and drama but it's more towards a growth and development for mature story writing. Put it short, it kinda makes Pokemon and Digimon uniquely their own thing.

The movie looks good, but as much as i like digimon, there are some serious issues with the plot of this film.
And by that I mean way more than the fact, that it redcons the zero two epilogue....
I think the 02 ending still stands, they will all meet their partners again, according to the tropes page anyway.
the producer confirm before the release that the 02 Epilogue is still happening and the ending scene pretty much implies it with pretty much everyone being in the job they were in the epilogue or somewhere that will lead them to the epilogue (like Davis working at the restaurant foreshadowing his future stand and Matt looking at the rocket for exemple or even Tai's essay which is pretty much the kind of stuff a UN representative would do)

so this is why they make agumon n gabumon shine in most movie ..like in tri.. and make the others seem useless especially seraphimon

In tri it was all the characters but that’s cause it’s like 6 hours this is only one movie so they can only focus on two characters though they’re making mini stories for the rest of the cast

Thank god they didn't cast Vic in this. The new guy isn't Michael Reisz, but he at least sounds like Matt after he hit puberty lol. Vic Mignogna as Matt in tri was such a disaster.

I wonder why they'd go so far as to bring Joshua Seth out of VA retirement but pass over Michael?
@@jennilocke The story behind Joshua Seth is tricky and different as he was retired and contacted Studiopolis himself about returning. Fans told him that Jeff Nimoy already recorded session for Digimon tri.
Joshua called Jeff and asked him why the studio didn't reach him and Jeff was like "you're not in the business anymore. Jeff gave him the number to contact the producers at Studiopolis.
Seeing how very willing he was about coming back as Tai and the fact he would fly out to LA to record, they managed to get him back as Tai. Ironically enough, he payed a LOT more flying out than the checks he received for recording as Tai and Motimon.

Id been like seriously man im too old for this shit adventure. Difference with digimon and pokemon os that the charaters grow up and move on with their lives, that's the message to the fan base, unlile pokemon where we have 40 year old trainer's battling it out.

Yeah. Tai was saying Yamato, Matt's full name, but since the dub never called Matt by his full name they had to make some additional dialogue to fill the lip flaps
This is basically a movie about Tai and Matt. I'm disappointed that the other digidestined didn't have bigger roles. I'm glad Izzy at least got his due.

@@antoniobarrera1983 According to what I've read in the comments, alot of the old cast has either retired or passed away. The only consistent actors I know are really Izzy and Tentomon's voice actors(which happen to be my two favorite characters as well, lol).

Even so its a nice movie. But it seems like those who made it never actually watched 02. Feels like they ignoring that it even exists.
I just really wished they used some of the songs from the fox kids dub. Not the digirap, but the songs from season 2 and the American digimon movie release were really good and captured the emotion of the scene (at least to me)

@@texansgregory5041 Well, first, I'm an American. I grew up with the American version of this show. The American version is how I was even introduced to this show in the first place. I don't have a problem with the Japanese theme. If you love it, great, but that's not what I'm used to and I would rather hear the American music which doesn't sound cheesy to me at all.
