I have a moderate paraesophageal hiatal hernia , this was confirmed through CT and upper GI . My doctor act like I am exaggerating the pain that I feel and shortness of breath .So I didn't work for 3 months after my visit to the ER My doctors from the surgeon to my primary doctor said that I was good to go back to work with no restrictions and didnt feel that I should go on temporary disability. I do construction, I work with large pieces of metal and I do concrete, sheet rock ect .So I am always putting pressure on my abdomen. I have been back working for 3 days now .Its Sunday I go back to work tomorrow and I have pain from wheelbarrowing cement and do the finish work on last Friday . I am waiting for my endoscopy to be done , because the surgeon wont do anything till then . I hope nothing serious happens till then because paraesophageal hernia is not like your typical sliding hernia!

Thank you for this video, I have looked at various websites that never mention shortness of breath as a symptom. Why? It seems important to mention when listing possible symptoms, so thank you for such an informative video. I have been having SOB just walking around my house and wondering what was wrong. You seem like a very nice person and a great physician, I live in Tennessee otherwise I would certainly make an appointment, lol! Thanks so much!

So glad I found your video! I just don't understand why I can INHALE perfectly fine through nose and mouth but can only exhale PARTIALLY through my nose, so I have to complete the exhalation through my mouth. Why is the problem in just 1 direction?

I was similar with anxiety, get on anxiety meds. They at least help me keep a clear mind while I work through the hernia issues.

Mine is 7cm but because I have heart failure and COPD I cannot be operated on. But this breathless is just too much to handle.

Not sure exactly what caused mine? Maybe coughing alot during the last upper repiratory sickness i had? Maybe even constipation not a 100% sure but it came quickly!! I'm also finding it difficult to figure out if its a hiatal hernia or a epigastric hernia?.. Both seem to have similar symptoms and seem to be around the same area. Mine has cause a lump and is sore. Alot of bloating and breathing problems like you said. Which bums me out bad because im an active person and fairly healthy. I went to the GI docs and my personal doctor. They set me up with an endoscopy and colonoscopy. Ughh.. Kinda wish their was an easier way to determine this root cause. CT scan maybe? I know it didn't show under an ultrasound. I just want my life back!! Have never had a surgery in my life! I feel thats the direction i'm headed and i'm not looking forward to it!.. Why now? Why are soo many people experiencing this? Or has it always been a thing?.. Well i'm hope i get this taken care of one way or another and i hope you all do aswell. Never give up!! God bless!!
