We were on the same boat. After all the years of suffering heartburn, chest pain, high blood pressure. To the extent my primary doctor thought i am suffering from depression so she ordered me an anti-depressant medication which i am not compliant to take it because i know myself emotionally & physically. I know something is going on not just psychologically. After GI consult, found out today i also have hiatal hernia after doing Endoscopy today.

I wonder if my severe resistant hypertension is from Hiatel hernia? I was just diagnosed with this last month with hiatal hernia. I suffered for 10 yrs! No one figured out what was causing my epigastric pain for years. Multiple visits to the ER. Doctors told me it was “anxiety “ causing my hypertension, then sent me home. They treated me like I was a nut case, that I felt insulted. So glad that I found a good chiropractor in my local areas to discover this. My heart goes out to this man, as I know what he suffered. So happy for him that he is healed thanks to great healers like you.

I know exactly what he means, I've been suffering with mine for nearly 20 years. I've cut foods and drinks from my diet that caused the acid reflux, and heart burn, after fixing that issue, I lost the weight, and things seemed livable for several years, but in recent, body isnt getting any younger and things seem to be breaking down even harder, I run out of breath just from walking from one side of my house to the other, can't really do simple tasks as easly anymore without help, and just the recent issue that popped up, I can't really eat much anymore. My stomach will swell into my lungs causing even more difficulty to breathe, and sharp pains will start to pop up all around that area. I'm down to eating a very small meal once a day now. I don't even really feel hungry much anymore. I have to force myself to eat the small meal, just to keep my family happy.

Wow! His story is similar to mine! I’ve been to the ER 50+ times from 2011 on, with severe high blood pressure, which eventually caused a stroke. Doctors couldn’t find out the cause, but did find a 1 inch Hiatus Hernia in an CT scan; so they sent me home and said to see my PCP along with taking pharmaceuticals. Got to a point that I stopped going to MDs because I was tired of them treating me like an Anxiety nut case and lazy to find the cause. I suffer from severe acid reflux that I need to sleep on three pillows and now have EOE eosphillic Esophagitis. I don’t know how to heal and cannot find a chiropractor in my area that’s specialized in treating a Hiatal Hernia. So until then, I’m stuck with a Hiatal Hernia, EOE, acid reflux, and resistant hypertension.

I have a large hiatal hernia and have some of these symptoms. I avoid coffee and soft drinks and liquor. I have to eat smaller meals and get anxiety if I eat out because after eating I get lightheaded and semi dizzy for about a half hour. It has put a major halt in my socialite. So glad this worked for Michael. Is it possible to get off PPIs if you have a large hital hernia? I have been on them for a very long time and have a large hital hernia. I have had acid reflux for 47 years found out I had a small hital hernia about 25 years ago. It has been probably been giving me issues for a really long time but the last 5 years have gotten worse with heart palpitations and shortness of breath sometimes. Also a slow heart rate at night. I also have SIBO that I manage with diet. I know I am gluten sensitive and lactose sensitive. I feel pretty hopeless with it all.

The issues Michael was having sounded similar to mine.
I went for a endoscopy and was diagnosed with a large hiatal hernia. Over half of my stomach above my diaphragm. He sent me for a barium swallow. They said I did not have a hiatal hernia.
I'm still suffering from feeling hard to breathe, bloated, a little burning in stomach and gurgling noises coming from right below sternum when I breathe in.
Not sure what I need to do next.
I already have anxiety issues before all this started and now it's worse due to feeling like I can't get enough breath.
I'd appreciate you let me know if it's a possibility to be diagnosed with hiatal hernia but then a barium swallow says different.
    Thanks.
Edit: Oh and the fatigue and brain fog is very much what im experiencing too. I can sleep 10-12 hours a day and still feel exhausted all day.

I've been telling my docs for 5 years now that the anxiety seemed as if it was coming from something physical. And of course they just kept sending me to my psychiatrist. I KNEW it wasn't mental though.. & finally had it confirmed after begging my doc to check my hiatal hernia.. So they did a barium swallow which showed I have a Large non reducible hiatal hernia and severe spontaneous gastroesophageal reflux

I have severe GERD and hiatal hernia and currently very unwell. My doctor says she can’t do anymore so currently going the natural therapies way plus fasting , it is helping but I’m so weak I don’t know what to do. The anxiety and depression are horrible and can’t be stopped

If you don`t have ulcers, you should try taking apple cider vinegar. Distill one tablespoon in a cup of water. Take it 2x a day, first time before breakfast and the second time 2 hours before going to bed. Instead of PPI use special oils that cover your esophagus and protect it from acid. If your teeth are damaged use straw for drinking apple cider vinegar.
Another thing is do regular exercises, walking, reasonable jogging, swimming, etc. Don`t strain your diaphragm by doing physical straining , especially don`t lift hands upward, don`t exert force upwards.

A slew of symptoms are being endured along with deficiency issues. So i feel so stuck, have had to do a tin or research to learn how to talk to these doctors who do nothing to help. Since I don’t want to take meds they are not really invested at all. I am glad someone is spared this anguish. I am in Pa, but would come to FL

I took doxycycline for allergies, but after the second pill, I experienced severe mental and physical side effects, including body aches, fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and weakness. I was unable to eat and had to call 911 for an ambulance due to my condition. I have a history of stomach issues, including ulcers, gastritis, a hiatal hernia, and a swollen colon, which was never treated. Since taking doxycycline, I've been experiencing constant brain fog for 8 months, which was initially misdiagnosed as anxiety and depression. However, I believe the medication has caused ongoing stomach problems that are affecting my mental clarity (brain fog).

Hiatal hernia is awful. I have one and my quality of life has diminished tremendously. I suffer all day every day. It swells sometimes and hurts. I believe it has caused or exasperated my acid reflux. I can’t stand to eat, bend over, clean or exert myself because it causes acid to come up into my throat. It’s really bad. I was diagnosed years ago with GERD and hiatal hernia. Took prescription acid reflux medicine but stopped taking it when I read all of the side effects related to that medication. I want to call The Root Cause clinic but can’t afford any treatment right now. Maybe soon I’ll be able to and they can help me like they did this man in the video.

I’ve been having problems for about a year now. It started with shortness of breath after eating. First they tested me for COVId which came up negative. They sent me to a cardiologist and all was good. Then they said its probably gerd so I started taking ppi blockers which caused the food and acid to come up which helped the pressure and shortness of breath temporarily but food now comes up which never did before. I still have chest pains and shortness of breath. I’m getting a scope done in October to verify if I have a hernia. I’ve been struggling to figure out what’s going on so I feel this guy’s struggle.

Its crazy how many doctors are completely unaware of the link between GERD/Silent reflux and breathing. I have just gone through this and it felt like I was in hell so I want to share this to help
      others like me.
False dyspnea. When acid gets into your esophagus it constricts your lungs even if it doesnt hurt. th-cam.com/video/y89GoKfRRuA/w-d-xo.html
Pepsin. Pepsin gas comes up to your throat when your sphincters are weak. It lodges into the flesh in your ears, sinuses, throat and even lungs. the only way to inactivate it is with high ph water. Gargling/drinking with alkaline water several times a day will very quickly improve symptoms of throat pain. You can also carefully spray it in your nose while inhaling as well as in your mouth. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22844861/
This facebook group has tons of info for almost everything you need to know about this condition facebook.com/refluxhelp/?ref=page_internal
Hiatal Hernia. This may be one of the main things that is causing all your problems.
My symptoms started 3 weeks ago and I started my diet and treatment plan 2 weeks ago which includes ppis for acid suppresion(as i had esophigitis) as well as the lifestyle/diet changes talked about in the facebook group. I have very slowly gotten better and my breathing has improved massively compared to 2 weeks ago.
All symptoms are different for everyone but in my case, I had constant shortness of breath, very hard time breathing in, burning pain in my chest, elevated heart rate, no appetite, chills, anxiety, throat pain, inflamed sinuses, and just generally feeling shitty. Some people may only have throat pain or even just shortness of breath with no other discernible symptoms.

@@katrinatorres2526 Its been 4 months now and my breathing is about 90-95% back to normal. I believe it was a combination of things which I still dont have fully under control.
First off anxiety is huge for breathing, when I have anxiety episodes I dont notice it but my whole chest seizes up and I start getting cracking sounds on my breastbone. I also feel more concious of my breathing and maybe try to breathe more than i should.
Second my sinuses and trachea are inflamed from acid coming up to my throat and nose, I still have inflammation in them after 4 months which makes my nose feel semi stuffy and my throat swollen.
Thirdly I probably had inflammation in my lungs possibly from aspirated food/stomach acid or perhaps something else.
My endoscopy showed mild gastritis and gastroparesis. Im also pretty certain I have GERD.
