Thanks for the love, man! I did a deep dive into both the composition and production of BTL in a live stream that's still up on my YT channel for anyone who wants to watch. Please don't let this deter any of your own thoughts, though! All fan interpretations are welcome. *WARNING* there are a lot of spoilers so please don't watch if you haven't played the game(s) and want to. Rock on! \m/
The man of the hour himself, Mr Edwards! I definitely will watch it. My Devil Trigger breakdown is going up tonight as well. The best thing about Bury The Light was the fact that you weren't satisfied initially. You made the track longer than initially planned. If I'm not mistaken, there were more layers to Vergil you wanted to express through the music.
MAD RESPECT! normally this kind of music isn't my thing, but the way it fits and gives depth to Vergil, the raw, nuanced, feels....OH this was a masterpiece.
Anytime! It was an experience to listen to your vocals on that track. That projection though! And of course I've seen/heard your covers of anime themes! Favorite one? Unravel and I admire your approach to The Kill. Your prononciation when it comes to Japanese songs? 👌👌👌👌👌
Casey Edwards should forever be responsible for creating character themes in DMC games. What he did for Nero with Devil Trigger and Vergil with Bury the Light is simply out of this world. He's fucking phenomenal.
Yes! I thought the same thing! We could have been treated with an amazing track but...Capcom does like to give new artists a time to shine. (I made the mistake of saying Casey Edwards composed V's theme. When it is composed by Jeff Rona)****
I remember a podcast where Casey commented on the dmc team's tendency to always bring in new musical talent for every game, and if they didn't have that tradition he likely would never have been able to compose for the game. I would have never heard of Casey if it wasn't for dmc, and I'm betting there will be more amazing artists the series will introduce us to.
If Vergil considered a edgelord then god damn he’s my favorite take of one. He’s not just a edgy asshole, he is a broken mind of someone who lost everything and became power hungry as coping mechanism against his guilt and rage. He is the perfect take of what toxic mindsets and trauma can do to someone, and I feel Dante the other half of it. (At least, like you said, Dante is better at hiding it and his way of handling things actually protects people) I could honestly make a essay about Vergils character if people didn’t beat me to it, but I’ll just say it: Bury The Light illustrates everything about him perfectly, making this song a masterpiece. Casey Edwards is just a phenomenal producer and knows the material he covers to the core. (Devil trigger also covered Nero nicely and it is a banger, but while I love Nero’s character too, he’s not as complex as his father. Sorry Nero) Great video covering this and I hope you get more subs maybe covering more songs from other series? Or just songs in general Id love to see that.
I loved your reaction to this song, but there are a few things I'd like to point out that absolutely makes this song so... what's the word?... Right, so MOTIVATING. Some of the lyrics that you pointed out as being about Dante and Vergil can also be about the two halves of Vergil. V and Urizen, which is a pretty cool way of looking at it. Then the thing I like the most about this song, not only being a huge tribute to Vergil's character, but also when examining the song and being a huge DMC fan like myself you can definitely point out other themse from past DMC games being mixed into this song beautifully. 1: The beginning of Bury the Light sounds similar to the beginning of Nelo Angelo's theme (Ultra Violet) from DMC1. Nelo Angelo being the corrupted form of Vergil after Mundus transformed him. 2: When the distorted music is playing along side the violen, that sounds like the violen song that plays when V does his EX taunt while playing as him. 3: The slow part sounds incredibly similar to Devil's Never Cry. The main theme from Devil May Cry 3. 4: After the build up as soon as the music kicks up past the slow part. The part you pointed out as "Vergil being summoned" you can immediately hear the main notes from Vergil Battle theme 2 from DMC3. Then 5: they added the main notes from Nero's battle theme from DMC5 (Devil Trigger) and added that on the Vergil battle theme 2 and mixed it so well for the climax of the song. All of these little details Casey Edward added goes to show that this was an absolute passion project for him. This is probably in my top 5 list of favorite songs from Video Game Original Soundtracks.
After doing more research..Casey Edwards said himself that the track Bury The Light has no references to pre DMC 5 Songs. Only lyrical references. The man said so himself so like...🤔🤔🤷🏽♂️ He tweeted this.
@Gold Star Gaming That may be the case. It's difficult enough to compose an original track right? Imagine if you wanted to put musical references from previous songs..😅 I'd imagine it'd be a little more difficult? 🤔
Funnily enough, this song is what got me into DMC in the first place. I heard this track on Spotify, loved it and added it to my liked songs. Weeks later, I searched it up and was very surprised to see this game from a video game OST. I sought out said video game immediately :D
That's amazing! That's happened to me before too with Final Fantasy X. My friend played the main theme song of the game and I fell in love..then I played the game..and that's it. In love 😅
"TWO SOULS ONCE LOST AND NOW THEY REMEMBER" IS ABOUT V & URIZEN*** (When I recorded this I had not played DMC 5 yet and I mention this in the video. I now know those lyrics do pertain to them.)
@@DianaProudmoore Yes!!! Funny how Vergil's theme is BURYING the light while his son is EMBRACING the dark. Father and son going through different internal struggles.
This song is very bombastic and reveals the tortured soul within Vergil. It's funny because I've loved Vergil's character since I played dmc3 the first time, he struck me as the type of older brother who was doing everything he could to protect his last remaining family.
@@arrogantanarchistmariahmck6163 Yes!!! Like I said! He'd never come out and say it. He's a man of action and not words. He doesn't want what happened to them to happen again. The pursuit of power isn't an easy one. Its a gray line.
You know what's so impressive about Bury the Light ever since it dropped? The memes. Those oh so glorious memes. Also, random fact, I at one point used Bury the Light to time myself to get to work. ;P
This was genuinely the most entertaining and genuine break down ive seen so far about Bury the Light. I seriously hope the algorithm takes off for your video, you seriously deserve it man. You can feel the passion and love through the screen Edit: goes without saying but you earned my sub
Thank you so much!! What an amazing compliment. Yes! Yes! What you guys saw is nothing but love for that song. I can't make goosebumps show up when I want them to 😅. The algorithm can be tricky. Once again, thank you so so much for your honest feedback. Means a lot! 🤘🏼 If you have any ideas or requests? Let me know!
When I say, "Someone is coming." I also meant it in the sense of the composition. The lyrics do say he's approaching but Vergil is NOT there just yet. When the song DOES blow up @ 17:31 and we get the guitar solo and Victor singing his lungs out? He's no longer APPROACHING. He's HERE!!! Funny how similar it is to the story of DMC 5. All of these pieces leading up to his return..
My Take on the "If you want this power then come take it." is Dante wanting the Yamoto from him so his portal opening days are over, and Vergil's like: "You'll have to take it, but you knew that already." from 3. I think I relate to Dante and Vergil because we've all gone through some shit.
Oh for sure! Having played all DMC's, I've always loved the dynamic between Vergil and Dante. They're both at different points in their lives in 5 but they still do what they did as kids..and just fight. Siblings express their love for each other in different ways. Them fighting in a sense is their language to show they care. Relate? For sure. I've always related more to Vergil since I was kid. The silent type. Doesn't talk unless he needs to. My older brother? Is more like Dante. And as far as going through some shit? Definitely relate to that.
Yup! Very VERY sure Casey wanted it that way. A few songs now a days don't really use the title of the song in the lyrics, but the fact that it was used as the last verse? Kind of paints this picture that it's Vergil telling himself that. Coming to terms with it all. Coming to terms with his decision. Whatever it may be.
Thank you! Thank you! I also had a great time with the breakdown for Devil Trigger!!! I've beaten DMC 5 already by now. I've beaten and have grown up with all of the games so I'm not just talking out of my butt 😂
Those two knew they captured lighting in a bottle so much so they worked together on another track. Casey's composition is the body and Victors vocals are the heart. The bring that track to life!
I mean, dmc5 is literally about Vergil hiring Vergil's brother and son to stop Vergil from obtaining the fruit and vergil being resurrected, so Vergil technically is there the whole game, just not fully
Thank you! Thank you! For the feedback! 🤘🏼 If I wasn't a fan of this series? I wouldn't have made this video. Too many people do things just for clicks and don't know what they're covering sometimes. Dante's theme is next. He's the face of the franchise so I'm going to be as thorough as possible.
Crazy right? I've already finished the game since this upload....and I'm going to revisit this. Just debating on if I should do a reaction again or just cover what I've learned since beating the game..🤔
@@Ariel_6277 Too damn true, I listen to Bury The Light at least two times in bed, and I can almost lip sync it perfectly. There’s also a fan-made “Definitive Edition” that’s a edited version of the song, but it sounds so incredible and mind blowing that I’d just want to die listening to how beautiful it is. I highly suggest you watch it! Here’s the link: th-cam.com/video/ev7r9pfk8BY/w-d-xo.html
I don't blame you!! I've played the song so many times in the shower, there's been times I've heard my wife humming the melody of "FORSAKENED I AM AWAKENED......" and I'm just like.."Are you humming Bury The Light.." I just heard it! I took a little while to respond because I was listening to it. I really like the use of Victors Acapella vocals. I believe that's from the stream Casey Edwards had when he was breaking down the song. That song is pure gold.
"Two souls, once lost, but now they remember." Refers to the two halves of Vergil, V and Urizon, becoming one again. Both much better United under a remembered goal of why they sought power. Urizon, to prove he was superior to Dante and V, to protect what he had left. Urizon grew by consuming the quiphod fruit and V realizing the worth of his own humanity through Trish, Nero, and even Dante. Its subtle but you can see evidence when Vergil says, "If our fates that day were switched, would we be the same..... Would I have your life and you, mine?" That is, at least, how I interpreted it.
Thank you so much for your interpretation!! I had already put on the description of the video that it is referring to V and Urizen. I hadn't played the game yet when I recorded this. You have a VERY solid interpretation! You sure don't sound like a person who just played the game and turned the console off after beating it..
I would love to see your take on Devils Never Cry, the main theme of DMC3 and very much the opposite of Bury the Light, which is fitting considered the former is Dante’s theme. Even with the later games, Devils Never Cry is widely accepted as THE theme of Dante, not just DMC3 Dante. No theme for him is yet to top it.
I agree with you. DMC 3's theme completely encompasses Dante as a character across the board. The song is still VERY fitting to this day because that's always been his internal struggle still to DMC 5. I got you guys on that reaction though..
The best part about Bury the Light is that it's Vergil's battle theme, and perfectly captures how it feels to play Vergil. (Warning for spoilers for the story of DMC 5. But you already knew that.) Vergil is, compared to the other playable characters, immensely powerful, and Capcom spared no expense in making Vergil not just as strong, but STRONGER than the version that appears in the game as the final boss. If you play aggressively, when you enter battles, you rarely hear most of the song, cutting straight to the chorus of "I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROACHING" as you mercilessly tear through enemies, hitting S Rank in mere seconds. When you play this aggressive, ruthless style, you really do feel like a passing storm-- you come. You destroy everything in your path. You move on. Vergil truly is the storm that is approaching. The rest of the song is for people that play Vergil in a slow, more methodical way. "Something is coming" you described it as. Canonically, vergil's always acted with indifference towards most demons, cutting them down with minimal effort or care. Something is coming, but you don't know what until the demon that just challenged Vergil got cleaved clean in half with minimal effort. Playing this slow, methodical way will almost never let you hit S Rank, but then, that's somewhat the point in my opinion. You aren't the storm, you're *something* that is approaching. Something that has come to do its job as quickly and efficiently as possible. Vergil is my favorite character in the series, hands down.
Do you work with a gaming publisher because this response feels like you do! :D Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for the long response! I'm going to have to sit down to give this a nice lengthy response in return. You're the only person who's interpreted the song while thinking of the gameplay. The first and I hope not the last person to do so. Vergil is my favorite character as well. Since the beginning of DMC 3. The way the game opens up with Lady narrating about the sons of Sparda? Goosebumps. You knew you were in for something special. DMC 3 to a large majority of people is the best. I definitely can see why. With Vergil introduction whether it be when Dante encounters him after all these years or when Vergil is in the library. You could easily get the sense that this man oozes style and doesn't believe in chit chatting. I could go on and on about the complexity of this character.
@@Ariel_6277 Something I also loved about this song is the chorus "I am the storm that is approaching". At first, you'd hear it and think "Oh, Vergil's being a badass". But then you remember the opening of DMC 3 when Vergil and Arkham are on top of the tower. That's when Arkham tells Vergil "A storm is approaching." It took him 2 games and the entire timeline of the story, but Vergil finally gave his response: "*I* am the storm that is approaching."
Be sure to let me know what YOU guys think of the song! Keep in mind! Still haven't beaten DMC 5 yet! Just started! All of this can change for me once I complete it! :) Update*** Just found a tweet by Casey Edwards stating that Bury The Light has no musical references from pre DMC 5 Songs. All original. Lyrical references? Yes. Compositional references? No.
8:30 is not about Dante and Vergil. SPOILERS It's Urizen and V, Vergil's demonic side and human side united once again as one making Vergil whole. Also Vergil thought his mother abandoned him, that's why he needs power.
Thank you so much!!! I always go back and fourth in my head if I should make a follow up to this video. Though it is a song written for a video game and is based on Vergil himself, doesn't mean it's listeners can't relate to the lyrics on a personal level..
The two souls once lost and now they remember refers to V and Urizen and how vergil abandoned his humanity for power and how V remembers that there is power in humanity as Well
Thanks for the comment! I mention this in the description of the video that it refers to V and Urizen. I had not played the game when I recorded this video. Someone else commented on how it can still be applied to Dante & Vergil too.
Damn! I Just stumbled upon your reaction video and gotta say your imagination skills are wonderful man. The way you interpret the last part as a summoning .........just wonderful ! I never thought it like that and..it's more awesome your way...SOO GOOD JOB !
Thank you!!! I couldn't help it! It just felt like he officially made his entrance for us! The song doesn't BLOW up until the very end. It felt like the whole song was leading up to this.
First time, when I look so deep into song. Beautiful reaction with a lot of explaining, which don't make me upset at all, what is amazing. I give like and subscribe, because you deserve this 😊
as much as "two souls lost, and now they remember" could reference Dante and Vergil, it can also reference Urizen and V, Vergil split his soul in 2 and they were lost to each other. V says something like "You've lost me, and I've lost you" before merging with Urizen, and Urizen also has no memory of Vergil's childhood home. So two lost souls, rejoin and remember everything together.
That's what I had a struggle with. Granted, this video was recorded before I played DMC 5. It MOST likely pertains to V and Urizen not so much Dante & Vergil. Vergil hasn't seen his brother since DMC 1, and his "death" was up in the air. So he's been lost. Just as much as Dante has been because he's "lost" his brother. Once again, I believe it's V and Urizen because come on...that's the story of the game!
@@Ariel_6277 Ah, never knew if you had played it or not (may have missed if you said it in the video), but the fact that one can take multiple fitting perspectives of the lyrics just show how much effort Casey Edwards put into this song.
Before i thought that this track was more focused on dmc5's storyline but it fits so much better thinking on the scale of the whole series where vergil is concerned
Exactly! I'm sure Casey Edwards didn't make the track almost 10 minutes just to express DMC 5. Like I demonstrated in my Devil Trigger video, some of the lyrics from Devil Trigger and Bury The Light are quotes from previous games!
@@Ariel_6277 i only noticed that trying to figure out where "through vacant halls i won't surrender" fit, until i thought back to the dmc3 manga where vergil's dt awakening was referenced
A year late but- I’d like to point out the second part of the ending guitar solo is also a verse in the Devil Trigger lyrics Embrace the Darkness that’s within me No hiding in the shadows anymore When this wickedness consumes me Nothing can save you and there’s no way out
Bro, this was an amazing reaction to an amazing piece of music. I can tell that you are a big fan and also understand the instrumental part just as well as the lyrics. To be fair there are only a few decent youtube reactors that actually do good soundtrack reactions and breakdowns and I think you could be one of the best ones if you would start doing more of them!
Thank you so much!!! This means a lot. There are some games that are great games on their own but the music in them? Can push it to the next level. It's a marriage. I adore Final Fantasy X and the first thing I fell in love with was the music. It made the world in that game feel like a character in itself. The song is beautiful. So many emotions mixed in with it. Ever since that video? Pfft. Been playing it everyday! I really wanted to break down the lyrics. I'm sure I'll see the lyrics in a WHOLE new light once I finish DMC 5!
@@Ariel_6277 Couldn't agree more! Whether it's a game soundtrack or movie/series soundtrack as long the story material is decent and the soundtrack is actually good/fitting it will totally elevate a B tier to an A and A tier to an S!
@@Ariel_6277 ooh there are too many! But most of them are from shows that I also really like so there is an emotional bias there as well. If you ever want to check out some emotional or powerful themes either Hiroyuki Swano's or Kevin Penkin's work as composers are simply top tier. Not a lot of lyrics to explore there though ;)
The song has the driving deep passion of a fan project but yet the budget, time allotment, and management of a commercial piece, a rare combination indeed. It revels in itself in the most delightful way. A lot has been said on this song already so I don't have much new to say. Sometimes I say "obsession's pulling me" to myself as a joke when I'm thinking about one thing in particular repeatedly, but that line is also neat because it expresses the sense of basal purpose Vergil has been reduced to in his crumbling, pathetic state (How he was still alive about 16-20 years after apparently dying as Nelo Angelo will probably never be answered), and it plays into that bigger theme of "I regret and I hurt, but I must".
Yes!!!! I was waiting for your response on this one!!! No way that I covered all the emotions Vergil may have been feeling. The ONE thing I did say that Im glad I caught was the feeling of powerlessness. That it is not an solitary mindset. It tends to be accompanied with shame, guilt, and regret.
Hey, so far, great reaction! I just wanted to say that the part that says "you want this power, then come try and take it", it's related to one specific part of the game. I won't spoil it, of course, but it's not mocking Vergil.
@@Ariel_6277 Yeah but he worked hard to gain that power. Hahaha In his trailer, there's a part where he says: this is power. You know, instead of "I need more power".
Yes! Yes! I also meant it in the sense of the composition. The lyrics say he's approaching but not there just yet. When the song does blow up and we get the guitar solo and Victor singing his lungs out? He's no longer APPROACHING. He's HERE!!!
@@Ariel_6277 this song is so good for playing high tempo aggressive games with, idk why it's just so good. Devil trigger on the other hand I use when my lane partner is playing Samira in LOL, she's one big DMC reference anyways
@@ironboy3245 I think I've found out TOO many scenarios where the song fits! Cutting the grass? Bury The Light! Taking a shower? Guess what? Bury the light! Cooking some gold? Bury The Light! 😂😂😂 Yes! Samira really is! I'm sure LOL did that on purpose.
I didnt even finish watching this yet, and I'm already excited to see your reaction. Especially since Bury the Light and Devil trigger have the same melody.
When the voice becomes angelical and summonish and there's a deeper voice behind, I feel like the lyrics hint to Vergil losing his family with everything turned to ashes, even the love that he wouldn't admit before, and the deeper voice is like an inner demon, whispering Vergil to convince him to look for power, which is when Vergil gets devil triggered and kills everyone around, just to come back to his senses to see there's no coming back home, not even Dante or father are there, he's alone. Thus, he bury that angelic child Vergil as a light deep within, replacing his old self with a more obsessive demon-like self that wants power. At least that's my interpretation of what the lyrics said. In which case, this song is about a child summoning his inner demon and becoming the Vergil we know (the one that was born in flames). Btw loved your reaction and analysis, found more love for a song that I've heard way too many times thanks to you.
Oh! I'm honored that I even made you love a song even more! It's a beautiful song. It truly is. That's a VERY interesting thought there about the inner demon! There's a phrase that reminds me of your interpretation.. "The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel it's warmth." I think of Vergil in the sense of lack of power to protect his mother. We've seen Vergil literally make all hell break loose just to get more power. And he's done this twice! When you pursue something for so long, it eventually cripples you to some capacity. Whether that be emotionally, mentally, physically, or spiritually. ...Bury The Light deep within...you just gave it a new meaning to me..
I kinda figure now! Since I recently finished the game! When I made the video, I hadn't started the game yet. I did the reaction to the song first to see what I would initially think of the lyrics. If I was totally wrong? Then hey! I'm glad the game corrected a couple of things for me. Oh. And it certainly has. Like that specific lyric you mentioned! 🤘
My motivation right now is split between DMC 5 and handling my 5 foster kitties 😼 Thank you for the suggestion though!! When I finish the game? I'll do an update 😅 I'm assuming you've already beaten the game..🤔
@@Ariel_6277 Yes! You get on with it, as long as the distractions are kittens thats fine, forget about eating or sleeping or fooling around. Kittens and DMC. Oh, another recomendation if you are into manga. Visions of V. :D
"bury the light deep within, cast aside there's no coming home.with burning chaos in the way, drifting in the ocean all alone" For me that very clearly is vergil's internal struggle to accept his decision of leaving his mother and dante as a child, and forever denying his human half.forever a outcast, witouth even his twin to accompany him as he walks a world that has no place for him
I feel like you are ABSOLUTELY correct. One thing that REALLY drives home what you said is the way this part of the song is sung. I feel like it truly conveys the turmoil within him because of that decision. And I like I stated in this video, the pursuit of power there's no one emotion. Particularly HIS reason for the journey. Shame, guilt, regret, and I'm sure the feeling of being lost constantly keep him company. It kinda makes "honest" intentions a bit muddy to see through.
That vocal change is interesting though... Before he sings this part, he sounds arrogant and a bit irritated. When he gets to this part? His tone changes completely. It's softer. Like a quiet rage. Like rain. It could be showering very heavily then all of sudden..it becomes light rain.
Two souls once lost but now they remember is The split of his demon self and his human self finally reuniting to create Vergil. The Yamato sword split his soul in two he wanted to throw away the weakest part of him his human side but he then realizes the human part is what makes him who he is so he accepts it. That's my thought about it though.
@@Ariel_6277 yeah I forgot to edit my comment saying but you wouldn't know that unless you've played the game. Sorry to annoy you bro 😂. I love this song I play it at times driving back from work to keep me awake just head banging to the beat.
Don't blame you at all!! No worries! I'm just teasing! I told myself .."If someone else tells me it pertains to V and Urizen I swear on Baby Jesus..." 😅😂
The goosebumps? 🤔 I got them because of the vocals not because of instrumental. Out all the reactionary videos I've seen? I haven't seen any that truly react to Victors vocals.
"I am Reclaimer of My Name. Born in flames. I have been blessed. My family crest is a Demon of Death." Casey really did his homework on Vergil. Well done.
Fantastic reaction & analysis to the lyrics, you're pretty close to what Casey intended for the lyrics xP I hope when you get to play DMC5, you get to make an update on what you think about it or something haha. Also, I really wish I can share my thoughts about the lyrics right now, but it's really heavy on spoilers and I don't want to ruin someone's experience on the game. For future stuff, here's a stream where Casey broke down the lyrics (Heavy spoilers for DMC5 of course) - th-cam.com/video/FgTa_GHarqk/w-d-xo.html
Thank you so much!! Of course! I plan on doing an update this weekend! I'm almost there!! Oh really? Man..I was just going with what felt right about these lyrics. Granted! I'm sure most if not all the lyrics will feel totally different once I'm done with the game! 😅 I'll check it out! Thank you for the link. I'm just debating on whether or not I should do similar videos to other "Amazing" video game music!
someone recently pointed out to me that near the end, before the final segment both Bury The Light and Devil Trigger play, almost completely interchangeable. Looks like Vergil even has his own son's theme in his mind
It’s really funny how ur perception of the song can change so much after playing DMC5. Like “Fading I’ve got to take what’s mine” I initially assumed was Vergil’s plan to take Sparda’s power for himself in DMC3 but after playing 5 now I think it’s a reference to Vergil taking Nero’s arm
I like that!! That's actually very clever! I would have never thought it that way. Honestly? From now on? When I hear the song I'm going to think it's that! So cool!!
At 6:00 when you make the comment about Virgil's presence in DmC 4. When Nero goes into devil trigger for the first time after being stabbed by the Yamato, the floating Immage behind him is Virgil devil form, and his first words are "Power! I need more POWER". Because he was not able to save the girl he loved.
I mention this on my Devil Triggers reaction!! Good catch! I'm pretty sure that wasn't Vergil's devil trigger when Nero first activated it in the lab in DMC 4. What we see in DMC 4 doesn't look similar to Vergils transformation. It was more in line with what we got in DMC 5. Nero's transformation has very humanoid appearance. Vergil's wasn't.
@@tindeemo1231 The boss fights were very interesting and honestly? A little difficult/annoying! I was like..."pfft! Come on! I've played every DMC! How hard could they possible be.." and I found myself dying quite often..😅 Devil Hunter 😂

YES!!!!!! I've mentioned that before on other channel videos! It's crazy to me how Jiren as a character gets shitted on but everyone and their mother praise Vergil. If anything? During the tournament, we saw more of Jiren's emotional reasoning than we got of Vergil 😅 Both experienced tragedies and both seek power because of it. One gets worshipped for it? (Vergil) The other? (JIREN) Gets crapped on saying that he has no character depth. The CONVICTION Jiren has throughout the tournament was so great to see. Casting aside any kind of help, belittling anyone who confides in friends for their strength. Jiren took on the solidarity mindset. I could go on and on..
I think the "two souls once lost and now they remember" is about V and Uriziel, because Vergil devides his human self and the Demon self with Yamato and in the end they recconect again, "The storm is approaching" Is for when he finally comes together and becomes once again Himself.
The two souls once lost does pertain to V and Urizen. I hadn't played the game yet when I recorded the video..you're like the 80th person to tell me this 😂 Your interpretation to storm is approaching is interesting. It's interesting because since it's Vergil's theme...he's already one. Like the two souls line..."Now they remember" present tense. Symbolizing that they've already joined as one. 🤔🤷🏽♂️
@@Ariel_6277 Yeah sorry, didn't know haha. Plus you've got a TON of comments so I couldnt read them all haha. But yeah, what I meant with the "Storm approcing" it's exactly because he's finally one and that he's a storm, because every time we see Vergil, in pretty much every game, he's fucking things up like a very violent storm and like you said in the video, he comes quickly and leaves just as quickly.
@@NarutoIIPrayer No worries! I do not blame you because of all the comments I have, as you mentioned. I mean..let's be honest. The ONLY game that Vergil was not in was 2 right? Other than that? I think it wasn't about a summoning if you played dmc5 you would know Virgil is separated from his human side and the whole power theme is there.it could be his demon side is saying if you want this power come get it to his human side.
The recording was before I played DMC 5. I clarify this on the title of my video. I wanted to provide a viewpoint of someone who’s a huge fan of the series but who has not experienced the story of DMC 5.
I feel like I wasn't. We didnt get layering like that again. Throughout the song there's no build, build, build. Specifically at 2:33 where the track is just adding layer after layer. There's Build, build, then the track calms down @15:13. To prepare us for the final explosion.
Considering you seem so heavily impacted by the song... I cannot recommend the songs of Final Fantasy XIV for you to take apart enough. Especially the main themes of Heavensward and Shadowbringers who are extremely powerful, carrying the same kind of strength as Bury the Light, wielding what the story is, hell some of the Primal themes as well as Ultima would be interesting to see be picked apart.
Of course you can recommend a song! Especially if it's Final Fantasy!! I grew up with it. FFX is personal favorite but the music across the board with the series tends to be amazing pieces of work. Hit me with the FF songs! 🤘🏼
I've gone back and fourth on revisiting this song again after beating the game..but yes. The line was also interesting to me. Like you said..Nero? 1.It could be pertaining to this father's secret love with a human. 2. Vergil secretly falling in love with a human like his father. (No context really supports that..) That I know of! Bloodline years.. Yearns for what? Power? Love? Answers? Seeks the other half? The lyrics are vague enough that it sparks the imagination and makes you really think..
@@Ariel_6277 well we know the bare minimum that vergil had a relationship in fortuna in dmc4 before the events in dmc3 One theory says it was just a prostitute and he was still young and half human with human needs Other was that he did love someone but she died giving birth to nero and vergil escaped child support Still, really interesting stuff!

In love 😅
"TWO SOULS ONCE LOST AND NOW THEY REMEMBER" IS ABOUT V & URIZEN***
(When I recorded this I had not played DMC 5 yet and I mention this in the video. I now know those lyrics do pertain to them.)
The part when you're sining the "Bury the light deep whithin" also have the same melody as Devil Trigger's "Embrace the darkness that's within me"~
@@DianaProudmoore Yes!!! Funny how Vergil's theme is BURYING the light while his son is EMBRACING the dark. Father and son going through different internal struggles.
@@Ariel_6277 Father and Son aligning within the darkness~
And Dante just went with Vergil just to contradict the last line of Vergil's song~

When I say, "Someone is coming."
I also meant it in the sense of the composition.
This is a masterpiece......The last verse is so EPIC............only said ''Bury Light'' once ............epic
Cant wait to see what you think of Devil Trigger, Subhuman and Crimson Cloud. Fantastic analysis, my friend.

That song is pure gold.
@@Ariel_6277 Again, too true. God bless Casey and everyone who worked to create such a masterpiece.
Urizen*
But you already knew that.)
Vergil is, compared to the other playable characters, immensely powerful, and Capcom spared no expense in making Vergil not just as strong, but STRONGER than the version that appears in the game as the final boss.
That's when Arkham tells Vergil "A storm is approaching." It took him 2 games and the entire timeline of the story, but Vergil finally gave his response:
"*I* am the storm that is approaching."
Be sure to let me know what YOU guys think of the song! Keep in mind! Still haven't beaten DMC 5 yet! Just started! All of this can change for me once I complete it! :)

Wow!!! It’s an honor! 😍😍😍 I am back and I shall upload regularly now!
Yes..the song gets me a little emotional.
as much as "two souls lost, and now they remember" could reference Dante and Vergil, it can also reference Urizen and V, Vergil split his soul in 2 and they were lost to each other.

Yes they do!!! And I'm sure you'd get a kick out of this reaction video...The vocals...the vocals...
Phenomenal review and reaction
Thank you so much!!! Sorry for the late response!!!
"The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel it's warmth."
I think of Vergil in the sense of lack of power to protect his mother.
The "two souls" are actually V and Urizen
I kinda figure now! Since I recently finished the game! When I made the video, I hadn't started the game yet. I did the reaction to the song first to see what I would initially think of the lyrics. If I was totally wrong? Then hey! I'm glad the game corrected a couple of things for me. Oh. And it certainly has. Like that specific lyric you mentioned! 🤘
@Den Thanks for informing our vergil lover 🤘😈 Also, the music I believe is considered *Industrial Gothic Rock*
leaving a like cause this channel's underrated
Much appreciated, Friend!!!
Hey, you should see Alex Moukala interview with Casey Edwards about this song. After you finish the game ofc.... Where is your motivation dude?
My motivation right now is split between DMC 5 and handling my 5 foster kitties 😼
Thank you for the suggestion though!! When I finish the game? I'll do an update 😅
I'm assuming you've already beaten the game..🤔
@@Ariel_6277 Yes! You get on with it, as long as the distractions are kittens thats fine, forget about eating or sleeping or fooling around. Kittens and DMC. Oh, another recomendation if you are into manga. Visions of V. :D
@Arva Of course I read mangas!! Been into anime before I was born! 😅 Por supuesto que lo voy a leer!
"bury the light deep within, cast aside there's no coming home.with burning chaos in the way, drifting in the ocean all alone"
For me that very clearly is vergil's internal struggle to accept his decision of leaving his mother and dante as a child, and forever denying his human half.forever a outcast, witouth even his twin to accompany him as he walks a world that has no place for him
I feel like you are ABSOLUTELY correct.
My favorite lyric is
"Forsaken, I am awaken."
That vocal change is interesting though...
Before he sings this part, he sounds arrogant and a bit irritated. When he gets to this part? His tone changes completely. It's softer. Like a quiet rage. Like rain. It could be showering very heavily then all of sudden..it becomes light rain.
"Somone is coming"
I AM THE STORM THAT IS APROOOAAACHING!!!
I love how you just get to it. Awesome.
Yup!!! Wanted to jump right in it!
Everytime i listen to it i start to feel Vergils pain and frustration from Victors amazing vocals
Yes! Yes! You're person #91 that has told me this...😅 This reaction was before I played DMC 5..🤘🏼
12:01 average reaction to Bury the Light from anyone anywhere
The goosebumps? 🤔 I got them because of the vocals not because of instrumental. Out all the reactionary videos I've seen? I haven't seen any that truly react to Victors vocals.
Now react to Metal Gear Rising songs!
Sounds like a plan to me! I shall add it to my list.🤘🤘
Hands down this is my new all time favorite theme song 🤩
The song is AMAZING. They really caught lightning in a bottle with this one!!
"I am Reclaimer of My Name. Born in flames. I have been blessed. My family crest is a Demon of Death."
Casey really did his homework on Vergil.
I'll check it out! Thank you for the link. I'm just debating on whether or not I should do similar videos to other "Amazing" video game music!
someone recently pointed out to me that near the end, before the final segment both Bury The Light and Devil Trigger play, almost completely interchangeable.
Looks like Vergil even has his own son's theme in his mind
i thought he was doing his homework and listening to bury the light for some motivation lmaooo
My favorite part of Bury the Light is the part where it sounds like Devils Never Cry.
I always thought the two souls was about V and Vergil and the strings coming in was V whose taunt is him playing classical music on a air violin
I like that!! That's actually very clever! I would have never thought it that way. Honestly? From now on? When I hear the song I'm going to think it's that! So cool!!
this is the closes thing to Doom soundtrack with lyric
Agreed!!!!
@@Ariel_6277 oof. After Google i found out I was still going off an old theory that has sence been debunked. I need to replY the games lol.
@@xXADuckyXx No worries! I had that impression too when I played it the first time too! Then I played it again and I was like...."Wait......" 🤔
I gave you your 1000th like!
Thank you so much!!!! I'm honored! 😭😭😭
This analysis was really good! You should def play dmc 5! Might wanna fix the captions tho, kinda crazy
I've beaten the game since this upload!
@@Ariel_6277 That's great man! What did you think about the game's bossfights?
@@tindeemo1231 The boss fights were very interesting and honestly? A little difficult/annoying! I was like..."pfft! Come on! I've played every DMC! How hard could they possible be.." and I found myself dying quite often..😅 Devil Hunter 😂
His inner demon told him to awaken.
That's also possible as well...there's many ways to see this song 🤔
Me when i saw the title: VERGIIIIIINNNNNN
Just came back to say wow! This really video really got a lot of traffic!
Apparently so! The algorithm is a strange thing 🤔 I shall be back though! Next video will be about how Jiren and Vergil and how similar their traumas are. 🤘🏼
@@Ariel_6277 I just noticed I had a typo in my comment hahaha. And that's awesome, I can't wait! Been waiting for another upload. I understand though, so take your time bro, I hope you've been great!
I just found you and i am so happy about it
Hello! Nice to meet you! :) If you don't mind me asking...why are you happy about it?
@@Ariel_6277 Nice to meet you tooo
And i'm happy about it cause i really enjoyed watching that video and soon i'm going to watch the other ones too
@@zirathel6134 That means so much to me! Get ready for the anime ones I'll be doing soon! HUGE anime lover and I'm going to cover somethings no other channel has done.. (That I know of through my research) 😅

An invocation and provocation are the words youre looking for. common in occult practices.
There we go!!! I KNEW I wasn't using the proper word! 🤦 I was caught in the moment Glad you clarified that. I'll edit that. Thank you so much!!
I really like the string
The strings in this song are majestic. Truly a masterpiece of a track..😭
So basically Vergil and Jiren share the same state of mind and guilt and both bear the burden of the memories from the past
YES!!!!!! I've mentioned that before on other channel videos! It's crazy to me how Jiren as a character gets shitted on but everyone and their mother praise Vergil. If anything? During the tournament, we saw more of Jiren's emotional reasoning than we got of Vergil 😅
Both experienced tragedies and both seek power because of it.
This guy is building up a *M o T i V a T i O n*
Can you blame me?! This song makes you! 😅
@@Ariel_6277 I feel his Song *POWER* AND *MOTIVATION* 😂
I think the "two souls once lost and now they remember" is about V and Uriziel, because Vergil devides his human self and the Demon self with Yamato and in the end they recconect again, "The storm is approaching" Is for when he finally comes together and becomes once again Himself.
The two souls once lost does pertain to V and Urizen. I hadn't played the game yet when I recorded the video..you're like the 80th person to tell me this 😂
Your interpretation to storm is approaching is interesting.
Vergil tends to be the reason why Dante even goes on these adventures. 4? He wasn't really the villain but spiritually he was.
@@Ariel_6277 Exactly, like no matter what we ALWATS want more Vergil haha, thats why in 3 4 and 5 we always beg Camcom to add him, he's just so iconic
@@NarutoIIPrayer I think it's about time they give the man his own game...DMC 6 *Movie Trailer voice* Vergil has to find Nero in the demon because Nero was trying to find his mother. Nero! Vergil! In DEVIL MAY CRY 6....
nice TG:re shirt man! :DD
Thank you!!! Come on! Tokyo Ghoul is in my top 5 of animes! How could I not?! Damn...not worthy of a sub..😅
Why is this vid only have 6k likes??
Did you mean 6K views? I do not know 😅
He wasnt ready!
Once you finish the DMC songs would you consider checking out The Metal Gear Rising Soundtrack??? It's a very strong one and I'd be curious for your opinions!
I've been recommended this many times and I will make it happen!
@@Ariel_6277 ah I see cool
14:00 oh man, you were so wrong Lmao
I feel like I wasn't. We didnt get layering like that again. Throughout the song there's no build, build, build. Specifically at 2:33 where the track is just adding layer after layer. There's Build, build, then the track calms down @15:13. To prepare us for the final explosion.
Have you heard the boss fight cut of the theme?
No I have not! I'm only aware of two edits of this track..🤔
@@Ariel_6277 VtZRVnKuqpw is the vid, its from the vergil mode where you get a dante boss fight.
Two souls lost and now they remember.
That line refers to v and verjil
Any chance you can make your mic louder? It's quite quiet.
I did! I ended up using a better camera for Dante's theme! Better audio too! It's going up in a couple of minutes!
Did you notice the similarities between Devil Trigger and Bury the light?
You mean lyrically? Yes.
@@Ariel_6277 yes
i see that tokyo ghoul shirt
im only 2 mins in but im subbing :D
THANK YOU FOR THAT!!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I should actually do a rock out reaction to the Tokyo Ghoul themes 🤔🤔🤔🤔
"Secret love
Bloodline yearns"
Nero?
I've gone back and fourth on revisiting this song again after beating the game..but yes. The line was also interesting to me.
Like you said..Nero?
1.It could be pertaining to this father's secret love with a human.
2. Vergil secretly falling in love with a human like his father. (No context really supports that..) That I know of!
Bloodline years..
Yearns for what? Power? Love? Answers? Seeks the other half?
The lyrics are vague enough that it sparks the imagination and makes you really think..
@@Ariel_6277 well we know the bare minimum that vergil had a relationship in fortuna in dmc4 before the events in dmc3
One theory says it was just a prostitute and he was still young and half human with human needs
Other was that he did love someone but she died giving birth to nero and vergil escaped child support
Still, really interesting stuff!
@@FlakkerDPS Vergil dodged a bullet that kills any demon..😅
Do "legacy" for nero too😍
I shall see what i could do..
8:30 actually wrong. SPOILERS
Two souls, Urizen and V , Vergil's demonic and human side then United as one
This was before I played dmc 5. I address this in my description of the video.
Play the game and then reanalyze this song.
I definitely will! 🤔 Matter of fact..that might even go up today..
thanks for the reaction, but you should increase your voice volume up higher, because i can't hear what you saying without changing volume every single time
