I am a member of the United Church of Canada, and, although, we don’t have a Rosary or prayer beads, I’ve always been drawn to them and have many. I now wish to make the Anglican prayer beads. I’ve heard and read where we should not not use repetitious prayer, but, it certainly would help a person to focus and be more intent in their prayers and therefore, I want to start using them. Thank you for sharing.

As a “Protestant” through my entire upbringing, I used to hold very harsh views toward contemplative prayer, statues, icons, liturgies, etc. However, when I consider that in the west, (i.e. those that inherited the Latin alphabet, in general), most people did not read or write their native language, Latin, Greek, Hebrew, or Aramaic and that massive printed copies of Bibles (The Vulgate, let alone those translated into native languages) were not available until after the 1500s, how did the faithful grow? How did they learn? They learned in community and the icons, stained glass pictures, statues, and artwork reinforced the teachings of Scripture. If I assert an absolutist position of Sola Scriptura (by the way, much thanks to all those Catholic and Orthodox monks who faithfully copied manuscripts so that some future “Protestants” can persecute and anathematize them and question their authenticity), how do you explain the growth of believers in Christ in the absence of general public education and learning of Ecclesiastical Latin or Koine Greek for 15 centuries prior to the Gutenberg Bible (among others, of course)? My sincerest apologies to my Roman Catholic and Autocephalous brothers and sisters in Christ for my past participation in such cruelty towards you.

This is becoming my understanding too recently. What about those centuries of predominately analphabetic people? They relied on teachings and remembered through imaging! As I'm starting to learn more about early chrisianity, I feel kind of decieved by certain parts of my upbringing, almost glorifying the Reformation while demonizing Catholicism. - I'm Dutch and we had almost a century of something called 'pillarization' which led to vertical seperation between (religious/political) beliefs between the 1880's and 1960's. -
I always felt uneasy because as a kid I often thought of "But wat about the centuries before...?".

Amen brother, but faithful Protestants would never anathematize others! We protested against the Roman church and their teaching on authority, not those who were faithful Christians. We never questioned the authenticity of the faith of those who literally dedicated their lives to studying and praying. We just have a different view on priesthood/apostolic succession and papal primacy. And it almost sounds like you’re sorry that education and translated Bibles are accessible to laypeople.

Firstly, this is an Anglican rosary, not a Catholic rosary. Second, no one is worshipping the prayer beads. Third, there are different types of prayer. Repeating words is how some people focus their mind when they are trying to listen for God.

Well, I don’t think this has anything to do with Mother Mary. This is simply just a different variation of the rosary that seeks to focus primarily on Jesus alone. I don’t see the fault in that. Personally I think honoring Mary with my rosary every day is wonderful, but do I think that is it absolutely necessary? No. They are Angelicans/Protestants so I say just to respect their beliefs as long as it does not go against the word of God.

Prayer that is repetitive that a person repeats the same phrase over and over as some sort of formula is not biblical. In Mat 6:7 Jesus says, “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words” Jesus considers this practice empty, devoid of faith. ‘empty phrases’ means to babble, or repeat the same things over and over mindlessly as the RCC teaches its people to do, God doesn't contradict himself so why does the RCC mock & test God by doing the opposite of what He teaches? Why do catholics choose the contrary teachings of their religion while ignoring the teaching of Heaven? "Is God a liar?" Isa 6:3, or is man a liar?

Revelation 4:8 ‘… and they rest not* day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty…‘
Isaiah 6:3 ‘And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.’
Repetitive prayer is also used in Psalm 136. I’d also recommend giving Luke 18:3:1-8 a read.

i don't necessarily agree with you, in that prayer to our Savior needs to be from our heart, and when you are studing the bible, through prayer, or praying the rosary with the understanding that you are completely in submission to the Lord and also studying and receiving the word of God through the Holy spirit, it is an annointed time. I haven't prayed this rosary, nor have i attended one of these services, so we must keep in mine Timothy 4:11, with love

and on top of it all. (I agree) People read the wrong scriptures(Gospel) and change it for their own believes. Scripture says.
Mary can't forgive your sins or save you.
      Jeremiah 7:18-19 KJV
The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.
      Jeremiah 44:19
“And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?”
      Revelation 17:1-10
      King James Version
17 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:
2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.
3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
5 And upon her forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon The Great, The Mother Of Harlots And Abominations Of The Earth.
6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.
7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.
8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
Stop praying to the dead for they are asleep. Mary is not the mother of God. And she is not a virgin no more. Stop worshiping idols. That is not Mary or Jesus do yah research Mary is
Tammuz was the son of Queen Semiramis, born after the death of his father Nimrod who built both Babel and Nineveh (Genesis 10:8-12) This is what catholic church worship. for if they read their bibles they would know

      King James Version
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
      Matthew 23:9
      King James Version
9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
      Mark 2:7
“Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?”
      1 Timothy 2:5
      King James Version
      5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Hoe can she be Gods mother if God is eternal, he is not created but we are. She had kids after Jesus.
      Mark 6:3
“Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.”
Praying to the dead. How can you they can't hear you.
      Ecclesiastes 9:5-6
      King James Version
5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
      1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
      King James Version
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Understand only one way it is through Jesus no one else.
Praying to the Father he says.
      Matthew 6:5-8
      King James Version
5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
This is the true way. For Jesus and the father are one.
      John 1:1
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
      John 1:14
      King James Version
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
      John 10:30
“I and my Father are one.”
      John 14:6
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
      Not Mary or any saint.
repent and get away from this religion. for all religions are false. God does not divide himself.
Trust in Jesus and the holy Bible not Man or Culture.
None of these prayers they showing you are in the bible not the bible of the dead sea scrolls.
Peter is not the rock of the church Jesus is.
      Psalm 18:31
      King James Version
31 For who is God save the Lord? or who is a rock save our God?
      2 Samuel 22:32
      King James Version
32 For who is God, save the Lord? and who is a rock, save our God?
      Psalm 62:6
      King James Version
6 He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.
      Psalm 62:7
      King James Version
7 In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
      Matthew 16:18
      King James Version
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
That last one is the one they use. As the scriptures say God, Jesus is the rock. He is the light.
      Jesus not Mary.
      John 8:12
      King James Version
12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
These are the things i preach to these religious worshipers. we are saved by grace and the teaching of the scriptures not man, religion or culture neither tradition.

You aren't praying TO the rosary. It's a tool to help you keep track OF prayers. It's not inherently pagan or christian. The bible doesn't say to use notebooks in bible study, but people do it anyway. That doesn't mean you can't do it, and doesn't mean it's wrong if you do. You ARE allowed to create tools to help you in life.

I was born catholic & learned through the missal & catechism. When I became an adult I read the orig Greek/Hebrew Bible by the orig author's of scripture & saw the adding, deleting, & contradictions of the teachings of the RCC.
God said "Believers go to the grave at death where they "sleep" until the resurrection" I Cor 15. God never contradicts himself which means 'Mary' could never have appeared on earth. The Bible plainly says that "no man has ascended up to heaven" John 3:13 & "All have sinned" (Rom 3:23, & "no one is truly righteous" Rom 3:10. U teach RCC doctrine that contradicts God's word! "In vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of MEN" Mat 15:9. Mary is not a mediator, “For there is one God, and ONE mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus”1 Tim. 2:5. Jesus said "I am the way & the truth & the life. No one comes to the Father except through ME." Jn 14:6. 1st command "I am the Lord your God...you shall not worship, pray to, or serve any other god..." 2nd com'd: "You shall not make you any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven, or that is in the earth,".Ex 20:2. That rosary, medal, scapular, statue, shroud etc is an idol, a graven image that the RCC uses to raise a female, a creation, to the same level as God. Jesus never called Mary 'mother' and Mary called Jesus 'teacher'. The Bible mentions Mary 4 x's, Mary Magdaline is mentioned 12 x's & Jesus appeared to 'her'.Jesus didn't make Mary a queen of anything & certainly wouldn't make a creation 'co-redeemer' on the same level as God the Creator. "Is God a liar?" Isa 6:3, or is man a liar?

Everything you said was wrongly interpreted and was not a Roman Catholic teaching... So I doubted you were originally a RC. I'll just address one issue you brought here, that is the IDOL. Not one RC worship any statue. I'm sure you're that man made religion that prohibited any kind of images. So can you help me and remind me what is inside of the Temple of Solomon? How about the Ark that Moses built, what's on top of it? What about the Bronze Serpent that Moses erected that who ever got bitten by poisonous snake would heal just by watching the Bronze Serpent? Did they worship the serpent? When you get all the answers, I'm ready to engage with you.
