As an Orthodox Christian I started praying the Rosary 3 years ago upon the request of my Catholic fiancee. He asked me to pray for his sick aunt and cousin, who were both in critical condition with Covid. Fast forward I am holding our almost 1 year old Rosary baby daughter, gifted to us by God with the intersession by the Blessed Mother.
I am forever grateful to you, Bishop Barron for these series on the Rosary. God Bless you! And thank you! 🙏

Im Orthodox and I do the Rosary too, its part of the Orthodox Antiochian Western Rite of which my parish is a part of. Its a beautiful part of Christendom that fits well into Orthodoxy with some theological revisions and not doing the Loyolan techniques.

Glad to hear your story and how to Rosary relates to the Orthodoxy. I am currently on a journey of getting to learn and know my faith. I should have said that I am a Bulgarian Orthodox and there are a lot of complexities that over the centuries have created confusion. However I feel deeply connected to our Lord through the Rosary and I have been saying it every day with very few misses.

@joshuabutcher4985 Lord's prayer is ok. But not rosary. It is a message given by an angel to Mary. No point repeatedly telling this.
Other reason is according to the bible there is only one mediator to God the father and he is Christ Jesus. Not Mary or Pope made hundread of saints.

This whole series was an eye opener. As someone who grew up Lutheran and have been an atheist for the past ~25 years I thought that praying the Rosary was just praying Hail Marry over and over and over again. I never knew the Rosary was so complex and had a much deeper meaning. And yes, I'm aware that some Lutherans, Anglicans and Orthodox also pray the Rosary, but theirs are all different and I didn't grow up in a family that did this.

I don’t have a grand revelation to cite for what brought me back to my faith, I always thought it would be some angelic choir in the background while my soul ascended into some guy who looked like Zeus’ bosoms. No, today I’m learning the rosary for the first time on TH-cam because a year ago I became a father, and it was only a month ago I realized that of all the gods and all of the religions, the one who I was born and baptized by is the only one who came down from on high and suffered as a man so that whenever any of his adopted children felt utterly alone and helpless, they could find absolute and pure empathy in their father. Just like every kid with their parents I rebelled for so long, and it’s only now that I’ve become a father that I see what mine have given for me. God bless all of you who read this, and thank you once more God, I no longer live by bread alone.

Stopped all vices since and lost over a stone in weight in the last month off the back of it, now seeking a way to convert from protestantism to Catholicism so I can take confession and participate in the Eucharist. Mother Mary cannot pray for anyone. She is dead. Bible never says she went to the heaven. This is the main achievement by satan, diverting the people mind from the truth. Bible clearly says there is only one mediator for us. he is Christ Jesus
".For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people." 1 Thimothy 2;5,6
As long as you keep the bible closed, Satan is very happy because he knows you believe something wrong.
Let God's curse fall on anyone, including us or even an angel from heaven, who preaches a different kind of Good News than the one we preached to you.” Galatian 1:8

Holy Spirit, you who makes me see everything and shows me the way to reach my ideal, you who gives me the divine gift to forgive and forget all the wrong that is done to me and you who are in all instances of my life with me. I, in this short dialogue, want to thank you for everything, and affirm once more that I never want to be separated from you no matter how great the material desires may be. I want to be with you and my loved ones in your perpetual glory. To that end and submitting to God's holy will, I ask from you..(mention your favour). Amen
This prayer should be said for 3 consecutive days. After the 3rd day, your sincere wish will be granted no matter how difficult it may be. Promise to offer thanksgiving by sharing it and expressing it on granting of your favour. The idea is to spread the wonder of the Holy Spirit.

    Holy Beads
    Rays of colors
    Dismantling unwanted thoughts, questionable actions
decisions to make just you and me.,
Quietness, stillness no mask I surrender
    Suddenly a magic breeze comes
    The holy beads in between
    It seems like liberty
It feels optimistic letting go willfully
As I cross our father to Mary’s caretaking
Leaning forward offering my life I tremble
    But my voice rises up
    My heart slows down
    It’s time to receive
    Holy Beads strand of love
    Holy beads transform me,
    please
Here I am on my knees
Shift the weight of my sins
Holy beads I abandon my will
    Don’t want to let go
Your mercy is sacred to me

I want to pray something like this because I love the idea of a mantra, almost a chant. I think that would hugely help me in my prayers. But I'm not Catholic. The bulk of the rosary seems to consist of "hail Marys" which I understand the idea behind and respect, but is not something I am comfortable doing myself. I wish there was some protestant form of this. We have distanced ourselves from Catholics to a great degree over 500 years. A lot of that was quite necessary, in my opinion, but in the process, I fully recognize that we lost beautiful things. I believe my prayers are suffering and failing, in part, as a result of those losses.

As a Catholic myself, there's something tender in the Rosary being a Marian prayer. It's like she and I are praying together to God. But I totally understand you don't feel comfortable with prayers to Mary. You could try using "Our Father"s instead of "Hail Mary"s. Or you could research similar but less-known prayers: the Chaplet of Holy Mercy or the Eastern "Jesus prayer".

Thank you Bishop. I noticed that on the first decade (@2:00) you said, “… contemplating the mystery as we pray …”. Then later (@2:38) you said, “… meditating on each of the five mysteries …”. You also use contemplate/meditate interchangeably at least in the Glorious Mysteries video. Was that on purpose? You are in good company: it seems to me that Pope Saint John Paul II did similarly in the English translation of Rosarium Virginis Mariae.
But in most cases, meditation refers to using one’s mind to analyze a topic, while contemplation refers to a quiet, wordless, loving, mutual gaze with God. For me, while meditating on the mysteries and resonating with the repetitive words (almost on two different levels like conversation and background music) I sometimes have received that gift of peacefully, quietly, resting with God. Can you expound on that?

Bp gud day,my suggestio to the HOLY ROSARY, you invite the community so that they know how to pray ROSARY, its very defferent just to say or talk to them the 5 decades,NO.. it should be recited in the church, & your mission is accomplis, slowly by slowly they know how to pray, put the emage of blessed Virgin Mary ,this is the apostolic work of mercy ,now its almost the feast of mother of perpetual help this comming 27of this month

I’m sorry if this question is… silly for lack of a better word. I was raised Protestant and know nothing of Catholicism, but I am trying to learn. Unfortunately I do not know any Catholics to ask these questions.
Do Catholics ever pray just directly to Jesus? Or do you only pray the rosary?

Bishop, I was baptized Eastern Orthodox but grew up Roman Catholic although I havent practiced much until recently. Long story. However my Great Uncle was a Bishop in Louisville KY and actually had some involvement in Vatican II. I say all this because im curious if because of my Baptism I am in conflict praying the Rosary/taking communion etc? I also genuflect in the manner of Orthodoxy, i.e. right to left. Thanks to anyone with feedback.
By the way until now ive prayed the Jesus Prayer but using a Roman Catholic Rosary. Again just curious if any of this conflicts in a serious way.

My understanding is that both churches are Catholic, but have some differences because they disagreed along time ago about somethings. I can't speak about those, because I just don't know the answers. However, the Blessed Mother wants everyone, of every faith, to pray the rosaries. Have you ever read Fatima For Today by Fr. Andrew Apostoli? A must read for all people. The Blessed Mother told us to pray the rosaries and do penance. She even said this when she appeared to St. Bernadette in Lourds, France. Hope this helps somewhat. Blessings!

@@mariemandy6875 We are not the same church that has differences. The two lung theory is a joke. We are Catholic in a sense of being universal but NOT Roman Catholic. Don't listen to papists that think we are the same, we are NOT the same faith.

Oriental Orthodox and Eastern Orthodox Christians may receive Holy Communion if they seek it on their own accord and are properly disposed. For Protestants that believe in Real Presence it would be required in addition that they're in grave danger and no minister of their churches is available. So it's kind of an Orthodox privilege.
Praying the rosary or attending the liturgy is allowed to anyone from any church, and even to non Christians.
Baptism is only one. For Catholics there's no difference between churches, as long as it is a trinitarian one. If you became officialy a Catholic, you wouldn't be baptized again, as we recognize your baptism as a valid one.
