I use the close DT 1770 Pro and really like it. Very comfortable and tasty, dense sound.

I have this headphone. Sometimes I have it connected to a flat screen TV with the digital audio out to an external DAC into a good quality dedicated headphone amp. Amazing for movies if the movie has good quality audio.

Hello. You are extremely convincing. The Dt1990 Pro but rather in 600 ohms, is it a better choice than the 250 ohms ?
I have had mine for two years, I love them. They are no good for recording with microphones as they leak too much but they are great for mixing, mastering or recording DI. They are also very comfortable.

try adding 31 band eq with dual dac . they sound phenomenal
I agree it’s a great headphone. There are Audiophiles who use it on their headphone systems for casual music listening. Personally I think it’s one of the best headphones out there

I wanted to get a nice $100 to $300 headphone amp for my beyerdynamic dt990 250 ohm headphones but for the sake of the mix I don't want the amp to color the headphone sound. I heard a lot of good things about the monolith liquid spark and Jds labs atom being "clean sounding" and outstanding for their price but I get the impression they cater more to "listening pleasure" and not recording or mixing. I also really like the portable monolith thx aaa portable amp that also has a dac built into it but I haven't heard about people using it for mixing or recording either. The Topping L30 came up though - how good is that?

Hi Anthony. They are close in quality. They are two different style headphones for two different applications as well. The Focal Listen Pro's are closed back (recording) while these are open back. But I prefer these because they are more beneficial for my mixing and composing mostly. Open back headphones bleed in the recording of vocals and instruments. I hope this helps.

With open back and guitar recording it really depends on are you mic'ing an amp or recording acoustic guitar. I wouldn't recommend recording with these if you are playing acoustic guitar and mic'ing the neck and body of the guitar. With an amp they should be fine. I hope this helps.
Absolutely hesistating between 1770 and these. Doing mostly film music so I need both low and high end. Any suggestion?
Well, I can tell you the DT1770 have a more point blank range with the bass punch.. It doesn't really escape with the closed back build. But I find myself listening to and better monitoring on my DT1990 as far as my film scores and foley. I hope this helps.
This sounds like: "on 1770, the double bass and tuba will play directly into your ear, which is gonna annoy the heck out of you after 5 min of work"... Am I correct?

Oh for sure. They were made for mixing PERIOD. Until I got my MM-500 this were my go-to and still are my secondary reference. I hope this helps.

Yes! Honestly, I use these for my Xbox One when I'm playing Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Halo Infinite just to hear the details of the music score and foley, lol.

Anyone here using their Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pros with Sonarworks? Thinking about buying it and just wanted to hear some feedback from users here.
I have tried Sonarworks with my 1990 Pro a couple of month ago, but went back to EqualizerAPO, it's just more powerful and sounds better with personalized EQ and VSTs.
If you don't like the boomyness and exaggeration of the B pads, place some electrical tape across/over every second hole. This makes them the perfect and balanced headphone.

Hi Riona! I totally understand the need for honesty in this space. As I stated in this video, I'm scoring 2 movies right now and doing the foley (re-recorded sound effects) which takes hours everyday. I'm not reaching any fatigue with my ears or focus. Thank you for commenting.

The average home studio producer who is trying to come up not paying $599 for headphones. The DT-770 are more affordable $159.
I definitely see your point. Honestly, it’s what works for you, what you are willing to invest in and what your situation is. For example, my wife at the age of 16 (before I met her) was working at Denny’s as a server and saved up $4000 for a year and purchased an iMac, Apogee duet and a rode NTK microphone with no help. Also, the DT770 are an amazing and more affordable option for sure. Thanks for the dropping by.

They're like the original DT990s, you can mix on them all day if you need to as they're so comfortable to wear and detailed so you don't need to monitor loudly.
In my opinion no. Your mileage may vary though
