I have ruined some mixes by trusting the speakers in some of LA's best Studios (I won't mention any names) ..
If I was able to double check on my VSX before printing the mix I could have avoided some recalls no doubt.

I'm a young French apprentice, from Grenoble, in mixing. I was handicapped for a long time by the configuration of my studio and the impossibility of treating it correctly because of its size. Thanks to the VSX, however rather fragile in its first versions but well reinforced in the last one, it allowed me to understand my acoustic environment and to make better choices for the mixing of my prods and songs.
The possibility to listen in several different studios allows to better feel the rendering of your music and to obtain more precise details.
To make it perfect, it would only be missing to be able to control the software in MIDI, allowing to save time and to organize its workflow differently.
But in any case, it is an essential tool for those who wish to have a quality studio at hand!

I have been working professionally for over 40 years all around Australia and in some of the industry level large room studios in the 70s and 80s. I now run my own room in Canberra. I got these headphones about 6 months ago and I can tell you they work as they claim to. This technology will make a huge difference to many home engineers who have less that ideal rooms. Yes, they take a little bit of time and effort to get clear on how they are working for you. However once you do you are IN those rooms. The new expansion room is really rather insane. I have been in rooms that sound EXACTLY like this one. Best choice for referencing? Nope...rather more than that, the BEST cans for mixing and getting the results you want first time.

I know it’s hard to believe that these work so well. It seems like magic and it can’t be real. But trust me, it’s real, and it’s amazing. Since I’ve started using vsx I have very few of any revisions from clients.

Having used VSX headphones for nearly 2 years, I can honestly say I wouldn't want to mix without them now, and I have a fully treated studio, with calibrated speakers etc.
I also have some planar magnetic Hifiman Sundara headphones that I have used with Acustica Sienna, but the experience doesn't really compare to VSX. Mixes done with VSX are translating so well on everything I have played them on. Takes away the guesswork.

A couple of years ago I moved to new house and wife evicted my studio to the basement. I was using the humble KRKs and in the basement all my mixes got messed up. First i got Sonarworks Reference 4 and that helped and then got Waves NX, and then waves Abbey Road studio 3 and started mixing with my beyerdynamic and was better but it still was not enough. Then I got VSX and... Wow.
Yes, you have to get used to them, learn about how and when to use each room and once you figure it out, they are amazing. I no longer have to run to the car, or test the mix on every speaker in the house. They are truly great. And yes, bypass them when you mix down!

VSX is the real deal! I’ve owned these since Day 1 when they were first announced, and I never looked back. They might seem like a gimmick because it’s new technology, but it’s actually incredibly realistic and your mixes translate 100% on any listening medium after the fact. I sold my real studio monitors…these are that incredible and reliable. This is a real review, and I work with some high profile clients. THEY DID IT, AGAIN. It's incredible how the software combines with the hardware and give you the chance to mix in different environments without leaving the chair 😂 Please, go buy these headphones, those ~$500 will change the way you produce/mix/master and feel music.

I bought these a few months ago. Not enough resolution on the headset itself for the money. Maybe it's a problem with my phones but there's a terrible treble response on them. Everything sounds too bright when adjusted through this system. Always had to remix on speakers afterward so I stopped using VSX. YMMV.
Edit: Just received a new pair today, a week after Steven contacted me on here. Turns out my old pair were faulty. The new headphones have a flawless sound and I can definitely see myself getting good results with them. I'll leave my original comment up incase anyone is having the same issue as I was. I can confirm the new build of these headphone has a way better build and sound than the set I originally bought and it's worth the time to get in touch with Steven Slate's team if there's a problem. The best customer service I've ever dealt with. Cheers.

tbh this is a good argument. i dont understand people who just say "this is bullshit and doesnt work". like yes, there are cons, like different people have differently shaped ears and differently shaped earcanals so they still gonna hear stuff different to how its supposed to be. but the details are so miniscule and the positives outweigh the bads so hard that is a nobrainer. like, dont like it? think it doesnt work? just send it back and get your money back too. idk whats not to like here

How is the VSX application on CPU usage? I'm also curious about how much latency it adds to the master chain in Ableton specifically. I primarily use headphones to track vocals and I'm trying to figure out if these would be suitable for production, or purely just mixing and mastering.

despite all my "shill like" euphoric comments about how much i love these. i have to admit... from my laymans observation of the dsp performance graph in my DAW, dude, it's quite a load. 10-20% cpu load increase just by dropping the VSX plugin on my master. im running an intel 8700k which is quite beefy still, but I'd definitely recommend upgrading to atleast the 10x series. Then again, maybe thats just me and my DAW, which isn't all that common (Bitwig) or maybe it's like that for everyone, in which case i hope there will be some adjustments since Steven Slate said it should be very lightweight. Not a dealbreaker though.

You really need to try them out if you can. This is a very different approach to mixing and it actually works mate! :-) You will need to give them a trial over a bit of a 'getting used to the idea' before it will hit you. Then go order a drink in the Club emulation :-)

The magic is the binaurial recreations of high high end mixing rooms. I could care less about flatness or measurements. Waste of time imo.

Flatness and the measurements are the only things that I care about. Anything else is just opinion and personal preference. Neither of which tell me anything about the actual device.

Soooo.. you mix with numbers? Stop it..

Uhhh, yeah, just like everyone else does. Ever use a limiter, compressor, EQ or a master slider before? They are all numerical tools.

The “includes paid promotion” badge has always been enabled, unfortunately TH-cam doesn’t always go a great job displaying it on certain devices

I have them and they are amazing. Sold my $2k Dynaudio and I work exclusively on these now. Night and day better mixes. You have to try it to understand.

      Not at all!!
love mine, I also have the founders edition since they came out, been traveling all over the world with them and for me they been holding up great. But more so I can mix anywhere now, did a few mixes for the Tonight Show as well for Tiny Desk as well as mastered a couple of the Sault Albums while on the road. And even in my Studio with 10k + monitoring I still use VSX, just amazing to get all the different sonic perspectives.
