i think it's harder for her than normal fans and especially international fans like us. we never get the chance to talk to our idols or meet them so often in real life, so it's easy to accept that they are just celebrities to us and to go about our lives. but she's young and she meets him often and talks to him so it's easy for her emotions to get confused and to actually have the hope of marrying him someday.
Ikr I feel bad for her and Kangnam. I know she really loves Kangnam but I'm not sure if it's like "real" love or just a phase? But I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt considering she did meet him in real ife before and talk to him kinda often. If this were some fairytale they would end up together, but we have to remember that Kangnam is a human with HIS own feelings too and I feel like he probably is kinda uncomfortable while at the same time grateful for her support. I mean, he probably feels bad and a little weird over the fact that a teenage girl who is more than 10 years younger than him is supposedly in love with him. At the same time, I hope he will feel at least a little bit of happiness at the fact that he has helped her go through difficult times directly or indirectly, and I wish the two of them all the best in the future. I hope the girl meets someone great as she seems very sweet and even kind of humorous xD and Kangnam can meet his "soulmate" too
I agree. This is why I'm a bit happy that I'm an international fan. At least I don't muddle my way of thoughts too much to actually think of marrying or dating them.

I heard of some fansites going so far as to deluding themselves and missing the idol more and more with each time bcs they're so used to seeing them all the time. I feel like many of the commenters here didn't actually understand the episode and the reasoning behind all of this. You can clearly hear and see that she has had it very tough and that Kangnam is her escape, and it appears that she'll probably get better from now on as time passes after being able to talk about all of this with her dad and the MCs and guests.
yes, I agree with Yong Pal..she felt left out with her dad's being with his new foreign wife which she was against it...and she further felt the lack of belonging and support from her dad...as he has a new life with his new wife...this girl finds her solace with Kangnam..her idol whom she has turned into to get attention...to fall for her idol to the point where she kinda lost herself coz of her family's circumstances....She adores Kangnam..as Kangnam is really good looking, so funny, talented, and down to earth...so I can understand where she'd fall into him...but her family support isn't strong so she was weakened....but glad she realized that she's gotta move on with her life...

That doesn’t give her a reason to skip school and pretty much take out a chunk from her life and replace it with the guy.
She did realise her wrongs though. She took the test and she'll be able to start up With School again because of that. And at the end, you could see that she would get better.
To be honest, I was once on her place. When I got to college I was heavily bullied by a senior whom I rejected. Since he was in Student Council he has an excuse to be everywhere esp during the time that we had no professor, and my friends except for one left me since he was rejecting all my requests for forms that I should fill up to get new copy of the uniforms etc. And he had all the 3rd years back him up as they thought I rejected him rudely. (Which I didnt I pulled him into a semi secluded area and told him I cant accept him since I had a lot going on, my mom's coming to live with us after it didn't work out with her new family etc)
anyways, this one friend of mine was so addicted to computer gaming that I thought since I don't know what to do, I went with him into internet cafes(he's gay just to clarify) I was already into KPOP during tht time and I got myself so immersed into it. I fall into depression with noone to turn to because my family is so busy fighting whether my mom got to stay or not. I was in the internet shop when I was supposed to be in classes. KPOP was my only solace in the time that I was all alone. My grades started to drop, the only thing I do during that time was eat, sleep, and go to shops. A few weeks before the term ends, my aunt greeted me asking how my grades are and told her it was fine. That was then, I realized what I was doing, I was lying to my family and to myself that everything will get better if I continue watching KPOP and being in a fandom in general. But it doesn't. You have to pick it up yourself. Because your oppa shouldnt be the one leading your life, you should. I slowly got out of it, and transferred schools and continue my studies, I still like KPOP but I'm not as immersed as before. She will get better once she knew that she had other people to turn to instead of just devoting herself into Kangnam. Her family has to support her. And it cannot be a one time deal only cause she's just gonna go back to old routine until she get back to her own feet.
Tldr: It's a phase. What she needs is constant support from her family. Make her feel that she's not alone.
I was angry at the girl first and thought she was an unreasonable adolescent. But as they kept on digging her reason, I pity and understood her condition and reason. No girl at that age would want her dad to remarry. It's rare to have those who understand and cope with it. But still, she's so brave to be that independent at 16. It's a concern.

I hope this is just a phase and it’a not going to transform in anything harmful. But she seems like a sweet girl who just needs to do a bit more growing and focusing on the more important things. Like, family, graduating high school, supporting herself (since she’s living alone), etc.

She's not a sasaeng. Going to the cafe daily and walking around his neighborhood doesn't make her one. If she was one, she would have stalked him 24/7 everywhere he goes but she doesn't. She goes to school and has a part time job, and is just at the cafe most of the time. At the moment, Kangnam makes her days better, is her source of her happiness and inspiration but I believe that she will grow out of it when the time comes. She's very independent. Her family life isn't exactly that great as well which explains. I feel that the dad is also at fault for remarrying without discussing it with her. He should have at least prepared her for this, to slowly bring her around to the idea of him remarrying and she might have accepted.
He isn't at fault for anything she just has an obsession with an idol trying to be around him did you not here the I'll be at the cafe from 7 am to 11 pm everyday so i can see him maybe 10 times a month? She moved cities and transferred schools and got a job to spend $400-$500 a month at a cafe hoping he comes in. Not even caring about her dad having surgery and being in the hospital for a month so she could sit and hope to see kangnam yeah no.

I don't think that it was right for the dad to remarry without talking to the daughter and thinking about her feelings. Yes, he is an adult and it's his decision in the end, however, he isn't alone. When children are involved, the stepparent will be involved in the children's lives as well. Even if he had already made up his mind, letting her know about it and introducing Eunbyeol and stepmom first so they get to know each other before the marriage took place is what I think is best for all parties involved. I understand that it is hard when a parent remarries - I would know because I was in Eunbyeol's shoes (dad remarried after a rough divorce) - but it wasn't fair to her when all he did was say "this is who I'm marrying" and giving her the phone so they could talk. That just seems rude and rushed and in the end, stepparent and stepchild won't have a good relationship from the start.
That being said, Eunbyeol will eventually grow out of her hardcore Kangnam fan stage. She can still like him, however, it is borderline stalking and she is not thinking straight. She is only 16. Her focus should be on school, friends, and family. Following celebrities should be at the bare minimum. Skipping school is overboard. She seems like a really good kid. She's pretty independent already but she just needs to be more responsible about it.
The stepmom also seems like she cares for Eunbyeol as well. From what I see, she cares for her well being and even bothered to learn Korean so that they all can communicate even if it wasn't perfect. She is trying. Eunbyeol should put in effort too. From what I can see, it doesn't seem that she hates her stepmom - just the general idea that her dad is remarried is what she hates most. I think she thinks it was unfair for her mother.
This is just my thoughts.
She is really a sweet, charming, and humorous girl. As hurt as she was by her family, she is so positive and independent.

I mean... I've said I'll marry this or that person as a joke before, but this is on an entirely different scale. I hope she stops being obsessed with him, because it isn't healthy for her. I think everyone in the family had a hard time. The dad because he couldn't express it but did care about his daughter, the stepmom because she wasnt accepted and she was feeling lonely and unwanted. She will understand her dad once she's older. Kangnam is actually someone who gives her comfort and happiness when no one else could. And I love how she is so determined. I mean I understand she spends some time for him but she is actually way more mature than some kids. By the end of it, she admitted she did wrong and promised to change

I want to think that this is just a phase, given that she's a teenager and because of puberty, i remember when I was in h.s i want to marry an anime character so bad and i'm so addicted to anime i spent a lot of time watching it and spent a lot of money buying figurines and anime stuff lol but it stopped when i went to college so I hope this will not continue for a very long time in her case and that she'd start focusing on other important things in her life rather than following a celebrity everywhere, it's a waste of time, energy and money..
2 years late but.. no.. she's not a stalker. she didn't step out of the line. she still respect Kangnam's privacy and literally only met him on the cafe. I know. Everyone here is bashing the girl for being obsessed but she knows how to follow through on her dreams and make them come true! She actually moved across the country, got a part time job and is sustaining herself away from her family, takes singing and acting lessons..goes around the places she knows Kangnam will be in.. has met him multiple times and chatted and taken pics with the guy she likes. Lol if that's not dedication idk what is. He has a true loyal fan here!! i'm thankful that .. the source of the problem is communication. Because at the end of the day, both felt neglected and never realised that all they needed was each other's support.
