My microphone is connected to input 6, phantom power is turned on, and the audio interface ie connected via usb to my MacBook Pro. I click on use Zoom R16/R24 when prompted by GarageBand, set my input and output to the Zoom R16, and then set the track I've created to input number 6, which is the phantom output. I arm my track for recording, but when I click record, it just records a straight line, there is no wavelength showing, nor any green, yellow, or red monitoring levels throbbing, and nothing records. I try singing into my microphone, my MacBook, and my audio interface, to no avail. I am using the latest version of GarageBand, as well as the latest drivers downloaded from Zoom, and can't figure out the problem. I've watched tons of tutorials about troubleshooting sound and your audio interface on GarageBand, but none of them has helped my situation. if you could please guide me in what I'm doing wrong, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance! I noticed that when you clicked record in the video, it also was recording flat. I don't know whether it's because you weren't speaking into your microphone or not, but it's the exact same problem I've been having! Help?!?!?
I made sure to click on USB > Audio Interface > Continue on my Zoom btw, that was the first step I did, but it's just not working for some reason. Could it be that my cable is not powerful enough? I'm using a direct usb-c cable to connect the device to my MacBook Pro! It's a printer cable to USB-C.

Hello, my guitar amp (Fender GTX 100) has a USB output. I want to use this so as to be able to connect the amp to my Mac and then into GarageBand. Great video, but got a question about i/0 devices sending to either left or right channels only. I use quicktime and filmora for screen recording with a SM58 mic and inline fethead amp (need phantom power) and it only goes to the left channel on both apps with no way to adjust in the applications. I'm using either the focusrite solo, or the focusrite 2i2. Hindenburg audio program is no problem, but I need both channels in programs. I tried the Zoom P4 podcaster and it combined a mono signal to stereo on those video apps, but it was way overkill in some aspects and underkill (lower bit rate) in others, so I returned it. Do you know of any Under $150 devices that would remedy that problem? Thanks.

Here’s the answer that I was looking for from this guy, that he didn’t even bother to address: The little circular port on the side of the MacBook Err is, in fact, an input/output port. However, to make it recognize INPUT, you need a FOUR contact TRRS plug (OR you need to cleverly plug in your bog standard mini-phono-stereo TRS plug in there exactly 85.33% to trick the port into recognizing the input signal)
Will a usb-c to usb-c not work? I know he said to buy an adapter, but he didn't, distinctively, say that usb-c to usb-c will not work. Has anyone tried it and has definitive proof that it will not work?
Wait… Can you seriously not use the fucking audio hole on the side of the MacBook Air 2022 to plug in a mini phono stereo jack, and then set your input device to use that?! WTF Apple!?! 🤬

Here’s the answer that I was looking for from this guy, that he didn’t even bother to address:
The little circular port on the side of the MacBook Err is, in fact, an input/output port. However, to make it recognize INPUT, you need a FOUR contact TRRS plug (OR you need to cleverly plug in your bog standard mini-phono-stereo TRS plug in there exactly 85.33% to trick the port into recognizing the input signal)
My garage band didn’t detect my interface, what do I do?
What interface is it?
you don't need the dongle! just buy a usb-c to usb-c cable!
glad this may be an option, have you tried this and does it work?
@@danav3387 it works fine!
I still can't figure it out.. but I will.
is it weird that your garage band looks identical to my $400 logic pro DAW
The fact you paid $400 for a $200 DAW is pretty weird, yeah.
@@TheGaragebandGuide i paid $399 in 2020 :)
Will a usb-c to usb-c not work? I know he said to buy an adapter, but he didn't, distinctively, say that usb-c to usb-c will not work. Has anyone tried it and has definitive proof that it will not work?
Yes and it’s the optimal way to go. I’m thinking they have less adapter options
What dont you just use usbC to usbC istead of buying adapter from amazon😂
@@mirull_a.r most interfaces still come with a USB-C to USB-A unfortunately.
Enpüt😂
Why are you sorry?
Wait… Can you seriously not use the fucking audio hole on the side of the MacBook Air 2022 to plug in a mini phono stereo jack, and then set your input device to use that?! WTF Apple!?! 🤬
What exactly do you plan to attach to the ‘fucking audio hole’ on your MacBook?
@@TheGaragebandGuide a TRS three pole stereo mini-phono jack. I figured it out. Sorry for the AppleAnger. I'm over it now. :-D
Why can’t you just a usb a to usb c cable?
