This movie was very important to me when I was younger. I felt just like the ginger hair girl, like being part of an abusive relationship with my crush. It makes me sad you did not have much thoughts on the story when it meant the world to me at that time. Also, it is not that slow. I've seen worse cases. It's just European cinema xD

Nathalia Junqueira Because it is too unreal, firstly secondly there are more intereseting series with queer charachters you should ckeck out Cophine and Flozmine or ljek Rose and Luisa too funny and I guess I could not see the chemistry between Sanjunipero couple, latelu I am obsessed with Catia and Susana they have crazy chemsitry together It is portiguese tv show oh and most importantly Alexis G Zall plays gay charachter in a seies and I rewatch it instead San Junipero.
Joanna Stiener I feel like they have chemistry but they just didn't show it all, like, they cut the sex scene into a scene of waves crashing, but I think it's because the show doesn't usually have love stories like theirs. I know all these couples and ship them all, but I don't watch all of the shows they're in, is it bad? I just see their scenes. like petramos, I don't watch jane the virgin but LOVE them together

i know its really long :/ BUT its definitely among the best all around queer/wlw film thats been made in a while. while the director is male, its based off a book written by a lesbian, and it's actually really satisfying. and just visually its drop dead gorgeous!
Also while it is long, it's story line is non linear, and there's never a slow moment. like i just see an opportunity for really good commentary for this video series as there's so much to talk about and analyze every step of the way

"We must never be parted" reminds me a lot of a line from Maurice (a classic novel about two gay men,) where a character says, "We shan't ever be parted" - also super up close and in front of a fire, I think. I know it probably isn't a homage but my brain was instantly making the connection!

My take on this movie the first time I saw it was that "Mona" (I think that was her name) was smiling because she realized she can take control of her life and not be in abusive relationships anymore. Her brothers abuse was the reason she was so easily taken in by Tamsin. Abusers can tell when a person is vulnerable. That last shot is of a girl understanding who she is and what she will no longer allow in her life. That is my impression.
