      Brees averaged over 16 yards per ATTEMPT. That's only happened maybe 6-7 times with Lamar Jackson being the latest one, but it was over 30 years before Brees was 5th or 6th. It's so fun watching prime Brees play. Throwing 30+ yard throws with perfect accuracy. His arm fell off last few years, which led many NFL fans, mostly younger kids, to think he always had a weak arm and only threw 5 yard passes. That was way off. Brees could ball out and throw as well as anyone, usually better

    • @clark2501
      @clark2501 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep. People forget Brees was one of the best deep ball QBs in the league for nearly a decade. But I’m honestly surprised his arm held up as long as it did with how much New Orleans made him throw and his shoulder injury. Hell, Miami took a washed Culpepper over him. That’s how bad his injury was. Brees probably would’ve had another 2-3 years of solid arm strength before that downward trend we saw starting in 2017 if he hadn’t suffered the injury.

      In 2009 and especially 2011, Brees was unbelievable out to at least 50 yards in the air and could probably get it out to 65. More importantly, It was almost always on target and on time out to at least 50. His peak was ridiculous. Sadly though it only lasted a few years. I started noticing deep accuracy issues as soon as 2014 season and it just got continually worse until he had no arm left. I have to think that shoulder injury played a huge role in that rapid decline sadly. Both Brady and Favre still had way more arm left in their 40's than Brees did. Of course they both had more arm to begin with, especially Favre. Both of em could still throw at least 80% of their prime where Brees final season the man could hardly throw 30 yards.

    This game is overhyped if you ask me, the 2009 Pats were bottom 2 in worst teams during Brady's Pats tenure (2002 and maybe 2005 come close).
