The int at the end is what people remember but before end of half a missed handoff inside the saints 5, then late in the third Favre throws a int at the 30, then harvin fumbles at their own 10, and then Berrian fumbled inside the saints 15. With 3 of those turnovers inside the 30 and 1 inside Their own 10 is the Vikings don’t lose one of those turnovers it doesn’t take OT that’s not counting AP and harvins fumbles that were recovered by Vikings
coreyandy5 and also if the refs call it right the vikes get the ball in OT. but yeah. A terrible combination of dirty play, bad officiating, and the Vikings shooting themselves in the foot lead to to the misery of this game.
You think the refs called it that way on accident. They all but outright rooted for NO because of the hurricane that year. They did everything they could to put NO in positions to win that season.
sam dorsa That hurricane 4 years prior. The Viks had too many turnovers to over come. Maybe you should watch the game again.
The Vikings history in NFC title games is almost unbelievable.
Throw in their SB games from the 70's and it gets worse
@@TheBrett04 Nah he's right. Vikings NFC Title losses have been more crushing than even their Super Bowl losses. 1998 loss to the Falcons after a 15 - 1 season. 2000 NFC Title Game they get absolutely destroyed by the Giants 41 - 0. Yes Farve made a crucial mistake, but people are forgetting he took some savage hits. He wasn't in peak mental/physical shape
He was throwing interceptions his whole career 😂
Turned it over like 7 times yet everyone talks about Favre
Only because his interception was the last one. But yeah, eliminate just a couple of those and the Vikings maybe win. I really wanted to see Favre get a 2nd ring and in a vikings uniform, it would've been sweet...
I mean it was a boneheaded decision still . He’s done that his whole career
Are we not gonna talk about Pierre Thomas? He was basically carrying the Saints offense all game long.
So many fumbles. I still to this day have no clue how Adrian Peterson got back on that ball at 7:10 . He was on his knee and there were 4 or 5 black jerseys around the ball and he was the first guy on it. That was some hustle and a half there.

Farve fumble the hand off in the redzon that his fault not AP and Percy Harvin lost that fumble that put the saints in scoring range and bernard Barrian fumbled in redzone. what game are you watching LOL Farve int in the last minute was one of the dumbest passes i've seen and inexcusable especially a vet like Favre.
@user-fg4cj1vd4h no the Farve screw up the hand off not AP. he wasn't responsible for a single turnover in that game
Vikings just gave away that game to Saints with 5 turn overs. I remember this like it was yesterday...
Man rewatching this game I feel like it was more on Peterson than farve. That many fumbles is inexcusable.
3 tds and 3 fumbles and he can do that all day long
David and Pierre Thomas were some underrated great players.
The two Saints mascots embracing as the kick goes through.
Most underrated championship game
That was a classic game for both teams
People will blame Favre for his terrible interception at the end, but holy crap did you see all those missed opportunities due to fumbles!? Like 3 lost Viking fumbles this game including the one that would've gotten them AT LEAST 3 points before the end of the half.
Favre proved he was the toughest man in the whole world even tho I’m a saints fan .. playing in a broken ankle .. the pain must have been awful!
Yeah I don’t think his ankle was “broken”.
Brett Favre was a warrior in this game man...he just took a beating and kept going
I wanted Favre to win this game so bad. Dude was such a gamer.
Nah, it was our time to go to the Super Bowl at least one time bc we have always got the most heat and were always the joke of the nfl. And we knew we most likely wouldn’t be allowed to go again in the future. The 2018 game against the rams was pure evidence of that. Plus, every saints player played like hell in 2009. Pierre Thomas was a monster in the playoffs.
If the saints recovered all those Vikings fumbles this game wouldn’t even be close.
Minh Nguyen saints fumbled twice as well and somehow magically recovered them both too ya know
Ethan Leicester no they didn’t bush muffed the punt went to the Vikings

@@SlippingintoFiction even with the fumbles we still had a chance to win the game in regulation with a field goal, Favre should've ran or threw the ball out of bounds
These bountygate hits would definitely be flags in today's NFL... hell some of them actually were flags in this game. Also the fact that the Vikings almost won despite fumbling constantly, despite playing in the Superdome, and despite the bounties... that's pretty impressive.
Farve played one helluva game. Despite the boneheaded int and me being a Saints fan. This was my favorite Farve performance throughout his whole career
fuking cheaters. what happened in 17' wasn't enough. robbed
35K in FINES for the no-flag Favre hit.
The non-calls in that game were like watching old-school professional wrestling refs who's always have their backs turned while the bad guy raked a dude's eyes or did some other nefarious shit. That was my first season watching and playing football in germany. No one was talking about football and it was not that popular than it is nowadays. You didn't even found german news in google. Its an absolute crime that the main thing people most people remember about this game is Favre's INT at the end. Favre took dirty hit after dirty hit all game while his teammates were fumbling all over the place. For the first 59.5 minutes he was the best player on the field at 40 years old and the only reason the Vikings were even in the game.
