    Jesus, you made that easy. Had already read like a dozen help articles that just confused the issue more, and you solved it in the first 2 mins of your video. THANK YOU

    Andy, you are a life saver. Here I am trying to mess with context filters when it really came down to rank! Thank you!

    Hi Andy, thank you for explaining it so clearly. I got stuck at 3:03 as i simply dragged the sum of sales vs using crtl+drag - Tableau returned a different layout than yours (got it sorted in the end). Could you clarify what does using ctrl when dragging change please?

    Hi, super helpful video. Can we do a nested sort + ranked sort in the same worksheet? So, essentially trying to sort a table using 2 dimensions and 1 measure

    Very useful. Thanks. How do I display the first 10 categories within each region? Thanks

    • @vizwiz
      @vizwiz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would use a RANK table calc, set it up to compute for each region, then filter the rank to 1-10.

    Great content. I have a similar data and am trying to move region to "pages" so that it only shows one region at a time and user can use tool on the right side to select which region they want to look at. But when I move region to pages, the bars are not sorted properly. Do you have a video or suggestion how to do that?

    • @vizwiz
      @vizwiz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would use region as a filter not on pages.

    Hi Andy, What if I don't want to put Region as column but use as a filter. How can I achieve that?

  • @goranmanojlovic982
    @goranmanojlovic982 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Amazing. Would the option 2 (rank) also work if I start applying some filters? Cheers

    • @vizwiz
      @vizwiz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the filters apply before the rank is calculated.

    But if we have hierarchy in the view and when we drill thru to next level in this case from subcategory to product name, then Rank method is not working as expected and also with combined field method we are not getting grouping of left data items properly. Please suggest the approach if we have hierarchy in the view and if we drill thru to next level it has to be sorted automatically . Thanks

    Table calculations are simultaneously powerful, mysterious, and infuriating in about equal measures, until you get the hang of them. Nice video.

    sorry, for the combined field, why do I have to drag it in between the category and subcategory? why if I put it after subcategory does not work?

    I have three fields , date, state and sum(sales). I have to pick top 5 States (based on sales) for current quarter and get trend graph for those states in past three quarters. How can I do this?

    Nested Sorting worked fine but after that I'm not able to show the values of the SUM(SALES) i.e., Label option is not working afterwards. Can anyone help?
