Just got the automatic PRX and I love it. Amazing accuracy (COSC-level, measured over two weeks), 80 hour power reserve (game changer for a frequent watch swapper), beautiful integrated bracelet and mesmerizing blue dial. The watch and the bracelet literally shine under the sunlight - something you can't see from the videos. Also, it's quite slim compared to today's watches and it slips effortlessly under the sleeve (being a diver guy I'm not used to that!). Hats off to Tissot for providing such quality at incredible price.

I have the Tissot Gentleman with the Powermatic 80 Silicium automatic, and I get one second-ish per day accuracy. I may have gotten a good watch, but Tissot regulates the movement using a computer controlled laser to vaporize metal from the balance. I assume it’s done based on the performance of each individual watch as measured on the assembly line. The 80 hour power reserve is a real bonus too. I’m thinking that blue waffle dial auto is my next purchase!

@@robertsoares7607 Very good indeed! My blue waffle prx averages +/- 2 seconds per day. Good thing is that the variations compensate themselves on the wrist vs on the shelf. The factory regulation of the movement is exceptional.

I've owned the Quartz version for about 6 months now. Like all the watches in my collection, it just 'grabbed' me from the moment I set eyes on it. Then I spent a couple of weeks reading all articles and watching all videos I could find on it. I then went ahead and pulled the trigger. I absolutely love it. The integrated bracelet is so gorgeous and I always catch people staring at it in places, especially the tube and have had many compliments about it.

You are by far the most interesting watch channel on TH-cam today. Honest, relatable, knowledgeable, with a very soothing voice and a very timely sense of humor. I bought an Omega Seamaster then a Speedmaster, then I bought the PRX powermatic gem. You're absolutely right that watch collecting is not about the price. I love that watch and the bracelet is incredible.
I also appreciate that you focus the entire video on the watch rather than a presenter format. Keep those videos flowing. Big fan.

Never liked a white dial, until now. It’s one of my favorite pieces. Glad to see it’s being recognized for the value it truly is.

I went to a party last night wearing my $8,800 dollar Omega Speedmaster Racing. My mate and I were talking and he was going on about how he appreciated Omega above all other brands (he has a few as well). I happened to do a wrist check whilst we were talking about the Omega he was wearing the Powermatic 80 in blue. My son and I had just been talking about how it seemed like a bargain, almost too good to be true. I have to say , seeing this in the flesh it REALLY stands up. Feeling very special and giving off very much the vibe of a watch of 2-4k in price. I am getting one. It is a no brainer. The execution on the band is absolutely stellar. STELLAR!

Tissot is an underrated brand. One of my first wristwatches was a PR50 with a quartz movement. Nothing extraordinary but just a honest, durable quality dress watch with a vintage feel and look. Even after years, it still looks crisp and beautiful. And because it's so affordable, I can use it almost every day without any worries. It's more inconspicuous than the big names, which I think is a big advantage in some sketchy situations. I’m definitely considering adding the PRX to my collection.

I've had my PR50 Titanium for last the 15 years, it never let me down, just needed some servicing every two years or. Bought in Brussels, here I lived while studying, so it has some sentimental value for me. Once I thought I lost it, as I have stupid habit of taking the watch off my hand at various places. What a feeling of loss. But it just slipped under the bed. It's just perfect for its shape and form factor, weight, wearability, design and titanic looks, so to speak.

Young collector here, I picked up a PRX Powermatic 80 as my 4th auto (after a Seiko 5, an Amphibia and a Pagani) and my first Swiss made watch like a month ago. It is just a game changer. The other watches are cool, the fit can be better or worse… the PRX makes me feel like a million dollars every second I wear it. It’s comfortable, light, flashy but won’t raise the eyebrows of the non-enthusiasts, and can be worn in any situation from working in a lab, to brunch with friends, to the gym, to a more formal event… it’s been a game changer on my collection.

I know exactly where you are coming from Talking Hands, once seen and perish the thought tried on the wrist the PRX just cannot be ignored. The quality of finish at this price point is simply incredible as is the bracelet. Oddly although the bracelet is quick release I'm currently unaware of any other strap options available but this isn't really the point. This watch is stunning regardless of the price and I agree regardless of what resides in the collection space could and arguably should be made for a PRX. As you say the only decision should be quartz or PM80 automatic movement or maybe both. I ended up with the automatic so I guess my comments above could easily be taken with a pinch of sodium chloride as I'm probably a tad biased but this is my cheapest, scratch that, more value orientated watch that I now have in my collection. If you don't want in my humble opinion one of the best bang for the buck watches from Switzerland I'd suggest giving this one a wide birth or you may find like me you go home with one, quartz or automatic I think it would be money well parted with.

I own the PRX powermatic in the black dial and Tissot crushed this out of the ballpark. Now that they are going to offer it in smaller diameters, leather band, and more colors this will be a VERY popular watch. My only complaint is I wish they provided either an extra half link or full link in the box. Luckily the AD installed a half link for me at no cost when I purchased the watch. One of the reasons I ignore gray market and Amazon for watch purchases (except for Seiko).

I love this watch so much. I originally bought the silver dial quartz version, but realized I wanted the automatic version because my brain just came up with 20 ways to justify owning the quartz. I ended up finding a black one from an AD that also had 10% off and no sales tax. Pulled the trigger and returned the quartz...though I really wanted to keep both, i had to be responsible lol. I love this watch so much and it has been my daily for months now. I even acquired my "grail" piece of a Seiko Alpinist, but I can't seem to stop wearing the PRX. I have 8" wrist, so the size is perfect, the weight is light, and the bracelet/case's design is very comfortable. Sometimes it doesn't even feel like i'm wearing the watch at all. I also love how the light plays off the polished bits of the watch. I am convinced this (and my casio a168) are the only two watches i'll ever need.

There's nothing wrong wiht the alpinist, I still love it, but the PRX gets all the wrist time. I wish there was a version with a dive bezel so i can use it as a tool lol. With that said, the only thing I would have liked to change with it, its the polished bezel, I would liked for it to have been brushed too like the rest of the watch :P
    But this is nitpicking.

The world needs a 37-38 mm!
I own the 40mm but find it too big on my quite large 7.25 wrist, especially the dial surface and the lug to lug including the first link. And the 35mm wears too small.

I own a Vacheron Constantin Overseas... and I freaking love the PRX! So glad Tissot made it so that people can experience that style of watch without paying Overseas (or the like) prices. And still get good quality! And nearly equally impressed that Watchfinder would feature it, being below their typical price point for watches they review. This is just great all around! A close friend who just started his watch journey bought the PRX Powermatic at my recommendation and he loves it too.

Have had a number of Tissot’s over the years. In fact I gave my son, last year, a 39 mm ETA 2824 powered dress model that I got in 1996. Still runs and keeps time like a champ!
I’ve been wanting a PRX for some time. My only dilemma was between the mechanical automatic or the quartz version. I decided on the 40 mm quartz as the movement more closely represented the original PRX of the late 1970’s. I had read that some individuals were not pleased that the seconds hand on some examples didn’t match up exactly with the minute markers on the dial. Not the case with the one I picked up. The seconds hand lines up with the minute and hour markers exactly. I did however notice that one of the quartz models in the showcase did exhibit that issue.
None-the-less, I picked the blue sun ray dial. It’s beautifully executed and the scale of the hands and stick hour markers is perfect. Date at three position makes it easy to find and read.
Not much I can say for the 70’s retro cushion case and single link bracelet. It’s all 70’s without question. Beautifully finished with a brushing that reflects the light in a mild glow. This isn’t a $400 watch … it’s really a $1,500 watch being sold for $400. Tremendous value and an absolutely gorgeous timepiece. Well worth the investment…

I was craving for a new watch for weeks, goings over some models back and forth for days without end, until I stumbled upon this. It took me maybe 30 seconds to decide that this is the watch! Even I was shocked at how quick my brain said YESS! Best decision ever! It's beautiful upfront. I have watches 20 times as expensive, but I like this watch no less than those.

Bought the blue PRX Powermatic 80 as soon as it came out and really love it. Became my GADA watch pretty quickly. Earn a lot of positive response from other watchlovers/-collectors as well. So it stands its ground besides my other watches in the collection, such as IWC, JLC, Omega, Oris, Rolex, Tudor and Zenith. Great to see that Watchfinder not only shows the hard to get, absolute top tear watches!

While I understand why the Prx is a succes for Tissot, I think it gets too much attention for what it really is. I got to try one on hand and for me, it just wasnt it. The clasp felt bad, the finishing wasnt there and the dial just didnt have anything special. Yes, it kinda looks like an AP but thats the biggest seller for it imo. The powermatic 80 is a good movement, but once you break it you have no choice but do replace it because Tissot made it so replacing as a while is cheaper than actually going to the nearest watchmaker and get it fix (which is very difficult given the plastic part which it contains )

Just bought the quartz from Goldsmiths for a ridiculous £230 brand new! Truth be told, I bought the all gold PVD version for some summer fun - absolutely fell in love with it and just had to buy the stainless. What a watch for the money and not only do I prefer the simpler dial on the quartz, I think the quartz is right with the design.
It is so elegant and sporty it looks right in almost all situations. Dressed up or down this thing is beautiful.

Really an amazing watch for the price. I really appreciate this really nicely done very descriptive review. I consider this watch an homage to an APRO and I’ve never really been personally interested in homages though I have no judgments about those who do. I’m really glad I don’t have those judgments because now I am seriously considering buying this homage. I have owned a Tissot Powermatic 80 and loved that watch. The only reason it’s gone is that my taste changed with time and I’d like to think more sophistication and sold it. But it was a wonderful watch. I would love to have another Tissot in my collection but I haven’t seen one that I liked enough until now. Tissot has really hit the ball out of the park with this one.
