Man, THANK you for putting this up. I watch this clip over and over almost daily. This Gram Parsons song coupled with Sierra Ferrell’s indelible vocal touch is a supreme pairing. Incredibly affecting performance. Here and there life throws out a seemingly perfect moment. This feels like one of them.🌹🌹🌹
There are so many great artists that have come to the forefront these past several years. Sierra is one of them. She covers this nicely. I’ve grown up listening to Gram and also Emmylou’s cover. Of course it’s Gram’s original and done so fine. Emmylou’s cover really captures the intent and feeling of the song. Her voice is perfect for the song, overall. It’s great hearing artists interpretations of other great artists songs. Well done, Sierra!🎶❤️🕊️
Two of my favorite singers: Sierra Ferrell and Gram Parsons with one Gram's finest songs. RIP Gram Parsons. Thanks so much Sierra. Love your voice, vision and style. God bless you.
Right. She sings like she means it. It's a big difference than just a singer singing a song. It seems like she's always trying to make a connection to anyone listening. As authentic as it gets. She sure can sing.
oh she's one of the biggest stars of the retro sort of independent country that's having a big moment right now. There are lots of incredible artists in the independent country world since they're shut out from mainstream and radio country. Go look for them, you'll be amazed at some of the talent. take a look at last year's Ameripolitan Awards where she won in one of the categories and see who the other women were- some great singers and songwriters doing retro country and rockabilly.
my very first concert. 1970 at basketball gym at cal state northridge. Savoy brown, linda ronstadt , and the flying burrito brothers. it was awesome. already have ticket for sierra in april. cannot wait
First thing's a capital letter O, then you got your M. If you are me, G follows those two. Oh My God. If you don't react to this with at least Oh My! we can't be friends. If you're "all in" then we can be friends :-) OMG! Thanks, Chris Willman, for recording and posting and (from uploader Sweet Liza Jane's video of the same performance) thanks to guitarist Lo Shook for solid backing!
Good voice Sierra. Beautiful woman. Like your clothes too. I wear clothes like that out of the spot light. Why not? It's my life and am living it for myself. Happy Holidays everyone!
If you’ve never heard the story of Gram’s passing , I highly recommend reading up on it : it’s tragic , yet very strange, ironic & interesting the turn of events that unfolded after he was gone
@@helpfulcommenter Honestly, I haven’t been up to date on movies since the mid 90’s , so I wouldn’t know - but if a “cast member” from Jackass is supposed to be an “actor” , now , I’m sure I’m not missing anything, hahaha
the movie came out twenty years ago but ok, weird flex. jackass ran from 2000 to 2002 with the movies too of course. johnny knoxville created the series along with spike jonze and jeff tremaine. so he wasn't just a "cast member" - and since the jackass franchise he has been acting in movies for twenty years. it's a crappy movie but it's weird to be like "the guy from jackass acts in movies?" when he's been in tons of movies since then @@hazor777
Why do Americans think that way? Just let her be. Why do you force this super stardom on people? Build them up to tear them down? Why was Townes van zandt never a superstar? Just let her be herself.
@@Benjamin-jo4rf That's a really great point. I totally agree with you; she's making a comfortable living doing what she loves. Though as fans, we wish she was a household name. I want to bang my head against a wall when I try to turn friends on to Sierra's music and they are disinterested and talk over the song. Or they compare her with a more homogenized young country artist, that Sierra sounds nothing like. It's frustrating. That's all. I guess I'll just listen to her with my husband because he appreciates her music; and talk to fans on TH-cam. :)
That voice. Instant chills. She is quickly rocketing into the top 30 or 40 American female vocalists OF ALL TIME. She's already better than Linda Rondstadt or Loretta Lynn ever were. Sierra can belt this out on a sidewalk and make traffic stop.
I personally didn’t care for any music Gram Parsons wrote. I didn’t care for anything written by Flying Burrito Brothers . 6 days on the road was ok , but it was written by Earl Green who didn’t get any credit for the song he wrote 6 Days On The Road.

overwhelming voice, fantastic performance, amazing song: this young lady is breathtaking - the great G.P. would certainly feel very honored
Beautiful! Also, a nice nod to the Nudie suit!
Absolutely!
@SierraFerrell wonderful as ever. Such a firecracker. Lovely rendition of one of my favorite songs.
Amazing voice Sierra has!
The Lord has blessed a lot of singers, it's just that he has been particularly good to Sierra. 🌄
The workings of the Lord no doubt.
What a beautiful, rich, powerful voice.
That outfit is golden. I absolutely love it. Nearly as much as I love Sierra’s voice!🤩
Class singing classy classical song!
mmm mmm good!
That jacket... another tribute ro GP.. ❤
Oh Boy can she sing❗️
A Gift !!!
First time hearing this artist…Amazing voice, and love the jacket, ❤
I feel what makes her so amazing is not only can She Sing, but she looks at her audience and is focused on them, not herself. ❤
This will make her a great actress one ☝️

Emmylou sang this on her Luxury Liner album...was it written for her I wonder?
I don’t think it was. Gram and Chris Etheridge wrote this while they were in The Flying Burrito Brothers. A few years before he met Emmylou

She did a couple of Gram Parsons covers, then she did a few of her own.
Ok now it’s time for a duet of Love Hurts with Sturgill or Isbell or Shakey Graves or…?
